PSN is actually rebuilding their security, thus, they shut it down. No credit card numbers were leaked, as has been mentioned in countless articles, Sony would have legal obligation to inform its customers if that was the case.

To be honest, it is comforting to know they are making it more secure and it is only taking 5 days. "After days of speculation, Sony has confirmed that PlayStation Network and Qriocity were infiltrated and personal details, including credit card data, was compromised. The system was hacked three full days before Sony shut down PSN access. The official announcement comes only after Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal publicly chastised Sony for it's slow response to the problem. It is also interesting to note that they waited until after the press conference for their soon-to-be-released PlayStation tablet and after the stock market has closed.

As expected, this had nothing to do with REBUG, PSX-SCENE, Anonymous or any of the other wild conspiracy theories that have been brandied about over the last week. One wonders if fear-mongers like Mathieulh will issue a public apology or simply continue to spew non-truths and propaganda.


Sony also stated it might be another week or more before a new PSN is ready for their "valued customers"! They have not confirmed whether or not data such as trophies will be carried over to the new server."

False. Credit card info has not been confirmed. Countless links when out saying that for a hot story. Sony said it was unlikely, but not out of the question. There ass is getting sued either way though. :D

not false... they have no f'ing clue what is lost, so yes credit card info is gone... its going to cost them millions upon millions in fines and penaties aside from the lost revenue. Thats pretty weak for a major company to be compromised like that and have no clue whats going on. Typical japanese response "downplay it, downplay it, ignore it maybe it will go away, continue to let the sheep think nothing is wrong, quality here nothing wrong!"... Mitsu, Toyota, Nuclear plants, Sony... All big corps do it to a point(Oracle is bad about it)... Google and Microsoft have gotten better as of late but when google apps is down they are always like OMG its only 2% of the users! its nothing!!... Generally, I have to pick apart your poorly put-together comments with copious amounts of periods, "ROFL's", and hypocrisies that would baffle even the most bias of minds. I signed up for everquest like 2 decades ago... Sony kept it. Sony fanbois dont think someone walking around with all your info isnt a big deal but it is... birth date, emails, phone, address, old pass and account name...

Maybe I can get on the class action lawsuit. I want paid for my time to check my accounts and make sure I don't have the same pass on stuff from a long time ago.
