Hey all,

Well ive decided to start my tear down of the car to get it ready for body work and paint. Ill be changing color to a metallic white mixed for me by a friend of mine. The engine is toast so that is coming out and will be doing a flat or gloss black engine bay along with the underside of the hood to match.

body: So for body work i have a full novara 1st gen kit waiting to go on, along with vented fronts and the wide rear fenders. Lat42 Fixed headlight conversion, 99 sails(still have to get) and a victory hood. I wanted a ducktail (what ever its called) spoiler but the shipping was more then the part itself so i scratched that. Ill also be adding a 99 center garnish and tinting the tails.

Engine: next winter im planning on doing a full build with as it looks now: 3.1 ray shorty, dr stg 3 heads, dr750s, aem ems, meth. Cant decide between the greddy/3sx front mount or the oohnoo dcfmic. Both gonna cost the same as i would need a DN hardpipe kit. my power goals are peak around 630 but want to tune and run the car for 525 or so. I hope to have it running by next spring. for drivetrain it will be sce center diff quafie front diff and kaaz rear diff so it should handle pretty well.

The car will be a track/weekend warrier so i want to loose as much as possible. The ac is coming out and since the dash is now out i want everything removed that i can. I only wanna keep my heat just because. No active areo or anything like that so i have some pics of things im not sure what they are if you could tell me what it does so i can know to remove it or not.

Okay so enough talking onward with the pictures!!!

Nice looking forward to follow this build. Looks like a clean base to work with.

Caswell239
04-12-2011, 10:53 AM
Yea it's a pretty decent base. Most of the interior is going back in except for seats. While it's all out my buddy who's painting the car is gonna shoot all the interior pieces black for me. I'm excited to see how it turns out.

I love the wheels too since what I really want is out of the budget(advan model t5 or whatever it is) but can't decide which color to do them! Leave em bronzy or black or gun metal.

Leave them bronze IMO.

You might want to think about deleting the AWS. works great when new but it's very old.

I look forward to watching this build :bigthumb:

You did a great job under that car BTW. it looks clean enough to eat off of (if you flipped it over). Keep up the good work and keep taking lots of pics.

Thanks guys, appreciate the compliments, I brought all the hardware to work, blasted it all and just painting them now. Love the fact I bring it to work and do it all on company time haha:). And before you frown you have to realize how big my company is, they net 800million a quarter... So trust me they don't notice a thing lol.

I'm having a hard time scaling the size of the bolt. If it was a rod, the nut fell off. If it was a cradle bolt, it is amazing it made it through the side of the pan. Kinda curious to see what let go. Would suck if it turned out the nut just fell off.

Caswell239
10-19-2011, 10:13 AM
Nuts fell off. Cap dropped off bang out the side. Pretty dissapointing really. Makes me wonder who was in there playing with my nuts!!! Haha, but it was a used engine with 150k on it just chilling in a dudes garage. Oh well no biggie, was already planning on getting a ray p 3.1L.

so i got the diff done, pulled the speed sensors and fabbed up some cover brackets, got it all bolted together again just waiting on my 3sx/addco bar and links before putting her back in. The lower control arms will go back in on the car IF i get the bar before it snows and get the subframe back in, heres how it looks! I love the way it turned out with only doing the subframe in green and the rest black. the second pic is my favorite!

Awesome work on that rear end! How did you rehab the rear diff and get into all those crevices? Bead blast like the other parts? Are the rear subframe bushings new?

Really cool thread keep it up!

All thr bushings look like brand new cept for diff bushing. I used a powered wire wheel. Then just a wire brush. Unfortunately I ended up giving the car away to a friend to make room for my new ride (2011 camaro ss)

I guarantee it won't be at the crushers, my buddy is obsessed with anything with a turbo so he will be putting it all back together. I still have one more Gto (black 1990) but that will be up for sale as soon as I put some new axles in it.
