As posted on the other site:

OK, fans of 2-bolt engines, listen up. Mitsubishi did NOT discontinue production of 2-bolt oil pans. I guess when they updated the part number, somebody messed up and it's listed as a 4-bolt oil pan for 93+ engines, so there are 2 "4-bolt oil pan" part numbers. The $117 oil pan is a 2-bolt, not a 4-bolt.

2-bolt oil pan part number: MD166157, ready to ship, and fits perfectly without drilling new holes, lol. Unfortunately I have a 4-bolt...

:welcome:

And he has ordered one from Cherry Hill and sure enough, he has it in hand.

I'm confused. MD166157 is the origional part number! what is the number it is suppossed to have been replaced with? Or is he saying Cherry Hill made a mistake?

The number itself doesn't have to change when it's updated, the important part is the application list that goes with the number in the database, and that's the part that was updated wrong. Whether it was the fault of Cherry Hill or Mitsubishi's program isn't really important, as long as it gets fixed.
