Your pricing is pretty similar to Midwest turbo connections price, I was wondering if you could tell me a little bit more about what exactly your replacing in rebuilding the turbos.

This is the list Midwest offers:

-VSR Component Balanced (High speed balancing ensures proper balance and long turbo life)
-All turbos are completely disassembled, cleaned, inspected, and powder-coated.

-Rebuild and upgrades include new:
-Journal Bearings
-Retaining Rings for Journal Bearing
-Thrust Spacer
-Upgraded 360 Thrust Bearing
-Thrust Collars
-Piston ring for Turbine End
-Piston Ring for Compressor End
-O-Ring for Bearing Housing to Compressor Housing
-O-Ring for Seal Plate
-Nut for Turbine Shaft
-Seal Plate

I'm curious how yours compares. I'm just looking for the best bang for the buck deal.

I know that your from Texas, and I would much rather give a fellow Texan business.

couple things i wouldn't believe that he has a vsr unless i seen the machine, (unless its a china machine). Reason i say that is they cost 125k for the machine ( good one ) and you have to buy each exhaust housing for each turbo setup. so you end up paying another 100k in housings. only a few companies in the usa have them. most of them are manufactures. But the reason manufactures use that type (vsr machine) is because they are faster for production. (but ive also seen those machines get oil contamination on bearings and shafts do to the continuous open line of taking of the oil lines and reinstalling them so many times). So its not even necessarily better.

Another thing is 360* thrust bearing is stock. they are all 360* they dont make a 270* degree on like on the t/3 and t/4 turbos do.

They do make a bigger one I call it a Monster thrust bearing upgrade and the bearing housing has to be machined to fit it. Those are extra $100 each for that upgrade, I do use those on my 19t/HL upgrades. Its part of the price for those. I seriously doubt he is using those.

Yes i also replace all internal parts as well as he does.

if you would like to call me ill pm you my number

You're pretty close, I believe it was somewhere around 110k ;). It's a TurboTechnics VSR Mk3 balancing machine (I'll try to remember to snap some pics of it later this week for the doubtful lol). The flanges for each particular turbo are not expensive, about 150 dollars each per exhaust housing and we needed and we only needed about 20 of them. We have a partnership with another company and we use/rent their machine. Is it in house? No, but its the next best thing because we are there hands on.

Yes 360 thrust bearings are stock on TD04's. The paragraph before that states that we use 360 thrust bearings in almost every application unless that application does not have one available. The upgraded 360 was accidentally carried over from the T3 parts breakdown when I copied parts of the text to make the TD04 listing. I missed taking "upgraded" off the list. It has been corrected. :)

Yes you have the good vsr balancer. I like the idea of the balancer but it also is a liability. Ive seen many vsr machines oil contaminate the new chra even from genuine mhi. So that is my only concern about the machine.

Thanks! We like it :D.
Oil contamination is always a concern with anything that runs oil through it, but we have a filter system just like a car on the machine and the oil is changed regularly. That and we never put old turbos or questionable turbos on the balancer, we're only balancing new or freshly rebuilt ones so there should never be contaminants in it
