I've been running a little rich since i've put my car back together. I did have a wastegate come loose, fixed that and its still running rich. Did a pressure test still the same. So whats next? Leaking injector??? Bad fpr? Help!!

Sup, yeah this forum takes a little getting used to, but now I like it better in almost every way. As an added bonus, I'm not presently banned from it!

What do you tune with again?

ZERO

Im using the arc-2 which has been doing great. But since I have put the motor back in its having a rich condition. I tried dialing it out with the arc but then it goes way lean. So I know it isnt the tune since you can only adjust so much on the arc, so I believe its mechanical. Im gonna try some injector cleaner and see if it'll clear up on its own before I just go replacing low mileage parts. I'd much rather have the rich condition then the overheating problem I had before though.

Did you change anything as far as the vacuum lines to the FPR?

Is it always rich, or only certain conditions? Is WOT AFR ok and idle is rich? Or?

BTW My smoking problem was the VSS. I guess the machine shop didn't know how to seat them. Some were all the way up the valve. It's all Justins fault.

At idle its fine. It'll be running at 13-14 while cruising and i'll look at it again (every few mins now) and then it'll be pegged off the gauge rich---. So i'll let off throttle re-apply and it goes back to normal for a few then the same thing over and over. I dont believe that I have changed the vacuum lines either, i'll double check that.

Vacumm lines are hooked up correctly. I did find that my cas bolt had vibrated loose so I need to set the timing. Could that be causing the car to run rich?

I mean if its out of time I should see some knock or something right?

It's not NG priority because finances are probably not going to allow NG........again. :(
I want the car back together and both is not possible.

BRG may be an option.

Yeah I'd say that could cause the problem. IDT It would knock if the timing retarded.

Yea, we really wanted to go to NG as well, but with the move, starting up and now building the new shop, we have to accept the fact that we will be pretty busy at that time and just won't be able to go.
BRG we are still trying to work out. Finding a new dog sitter is tougher than I thought. I can guarantee that you will have an absolute BLAST at BRG, though. You should REALLY look into it. :cheers2:

Yeah unfortunately we haven't got this area very active yet. It doesn't help that it's not on the main page of the forum.

I just read the first post, so I'm going to try and update regularly here if I can.

Cool! I'll try and do the same. I'm probably going to pressure test the IC system and hook the AEM boost controller to the ECU so I can log boost with evoscan today. I had to move a pin on the harness to do it for the wideband and it looks like I'll need to do that for the BC also. I can ether take one from the extra O2 sensors that my car doesn't have or I can try to use one from this old emanage blue cable that I don't need.

I had to work on the Mud Turtle today (Mazda protege DD). The rear drums were grinding. When I took off the passenger rear wheel, the tire was ballooned  so now I need new tires. I found tires and rims on CL. 50% tread and pretty nice looking rims instead of steel wheels and hubcaps. 175 OBO, I might have to do that.

While moving the old engine around, I realized why I don't get much of a kick out of 3S major services. I asked granny about pulling my starter (the user, not my actual late grandmother) and she suggested pulling from underneath. I was a bit saddened by this, so I looked for alternate methods. After sifting through 100 DSM threads with "take a grammar class, and buy a chelton manual" as the only "helpful" response, I found this wonderful how-to, with pics! If you ever need/want to pull a DSM starter for the first time without diving under the car, (say the garage is full, and it snowed) here's the way. Put some gas in the daytona, oiled the cylinders down, spun it a few revolutions, temporarily twisted the distributor wires together that the mice chewed in two, and started it up. Speed density is the shtuff. It took less than 2 minutes for the ECU to figure out wtf was going on, adjust, and idle. Not bad for a car that has not been asked to start in 6 years. Car ran fine when I parked it, but that was 10 years ago. Hearing the old T3 come to life, and feeling the boost on my hand, brings back memories. (I had the piping off in case it blew any dirt/critters out) I forgot how much room was under the hood. Looking at it, I remembered doing timing belts without ever jacking up the car.

My uncle has a parts car, and is going to give me a trans. I hope to let my buddy that is down on his luck borrow or rent to own the car. I'll have to turn the boost down a bit before I hand over the keys to make sure he can't make my stealth look bad.

I'm hoping to put air in the tires tomorrow, change the oil, scrub some crud of the windsheild, and see how she drives lol. Should make for some interesting pictures. I think I might take it to the 1/8th mile track to see what it runs with the new trans, before I wash it.... There will be some amazed and confused faces in the bleachers, that is why I love k-cars lol.

ohh, and FN thieves stole every drop of gas out of the tank, it had a quarter when I parked it. I hope they sucked all the rust out of the tank, and swallowed some of it.

Made it to AL, I just drove the car until the squeaking stopped. The carrier bearing still chatters under load though. I think hankook tires have earned my respect for durability. They fronts have worn through the wires on the inside shoulders, and they still made the 3.5 hour trip to Birmingham. Car is pulling to the right enough to annoy me. I won't know if it is the tires or the struts until I replace one or the other. The car has always aligned in spec, so it's probably the tires at this point. I can't blame them as I have ruined almost every set of tires I have bought with my driving.

Going to do school stuff for now, but later I'll start looking into potential ideas for the doing monthly or bimonthly minimeets and nice roads to cruise on.
