My xbox 360 has lost video output ;( Not even any red lights, just no video output. Now I have to find something else to take out my frustrations. No more COD for a bit :( Spending the next several days looking for possible fixes. If it was RROD I would just cook it back in and call it happy, but this is frustrating. I will have to say that this is my first xbox failure and I have had it since ummm crap '07? I may find a walk through to open it up and see if I can see anything. Anyway just needed to vent for a few minutes.. On to your regularly scheduled programming :)

Use that on it, it should let more stress out.

lol. I literally just got a free 360 today with the RROD. Disassembled it in about 20 minutes... never worked on one before. Attempting to fix my RROD and have myself a free gaming system.

Fear lol a buddy of mine asked me if I had hit it on the top yet.. and if that didn't work did I try a hammer :P He has returned like 5 of the consoles for repair over the years.. about 1 a year for the first couple.

It is weird you can hear it boot and it operates ok as far as I can tell other than the lack of video output. At least it is out of warranty and if I open it I don't void anything. P

Well, if I do get it working it's getting an upgraded exhaust fan and I'm also going to install a third fan on top above the heatsinks.

Weird thing is it is the Falcon mobo which was supposed to fix the overheating RROD issue... obviously it hasn't.

Mine had the "open tray" error which forced me to tear into it. The lazer unit had gotten stuck away from the center of the DVD drive, so I moved it back, lubricated the rails and cleaned the lens... So far so good, but I've got most of the case off because I don't trust it. I burned out on CoD pretty quickly. Mostly because I'm average at best. I'm sure you know this, but for those that don't, youtube is a wonderful resource for repairing an xbox ;)

I have several guns :P Not near as much fun at 1am .... legal fun at 1am that is.. :) I would have preferred a PS3, but most of my friends have 360s so that is where I went. I don't enjoy playing offline games, much more fun in a group online giving each other hell :) Adam I am going to spend next couple of days looking at those, I am hoping it will be as easy to fix as the rrod. As much as this box is on for netflix for the kids, and games, and my late night habits, I am surprised this hasn't happened sooner! Timing just sucks. Stealth in a buddies garage waiting on parts to finish putting it back together, back in college, oldest kids b-day friday (18), and her graduation in a couple of month. etc etc etc lol.
I figure wtf, I'll tear it open and see how it goes, if it doesn't work I send it in for 99.00 and let them fix it. :)

I've got an extra elite w/some games if you're interested in buying it. It still has a warranty!

It is most likely the same issue as an RROD. The GPU chip must have unseated itself from the board. Try the typical RROD fix on it if you can. This has worked for me before.

If you open the xbox, microsoft will no service it. Just an FYI. I have a XBOX 360 repair service, if you want yours fixed, just send me a pm and we can work something out. Word of the wise, do not do the towel trick, penny trick, or unplugged fan trick to fix the issue. If it works its only temporary, more often than not it will fry your system. Also do not do the heatgun method, although this is a better method than the other tricks, you still run a high risk of screwing your xbox 360 up even more. Below are links of the proper way to repair them.
