I'm getting a new respray, I have acquired a DEFT 575 1g Fibreglass Hood.(Bonnet in my language) :) ( and yes i'm keeping the gen 1 look, omg shock!!! lol )
I know how hot these things run, especially in Australia.
Think I should get a custom shield made?

Google tells me that most cars do ok with the heat but I have reservations.

Advice/Experice very welcome.

Cheers

I am not aware of anyone with an aftermarket bonnet using a custom heat-shield with them for these cars.

Fortunately fiberglass dissipates heat faster than the factory hood and shouldn't get as hot (especially with the scoop in there). I think you'll be fine - just be sure to get hood pins though.

My custom hood is getting some small weird spots from the heat, but I think it is the filler or paint or something else rather than the fiberglass. I have used this stick on exhaust heat shield tape on motorcycle plastic in the past and if I actually cared about the hood, I would use something like that. You will probably be fine without it though.

I have a hood that is similar to the 575, but also with rear vents and extractors on the sides, made from fiberglass. I have driven the car on sunny, 100 degree weather days and have not had any problems. I run 16 psi and have 13T turbos, also with the stock turbo heat shields removed. For what it's worth, I also have DSM sidemounts which don't get nearly as hot as the stockers.

You should be fine if you at least have a downpipe to scavenge the exhaust a bit better.

I love your hood, Matt did an excellent job on it. I can't wait to get to the body stage of my car to get some work from him.

He'd be happy to hear that. Not sure how many he ever made, I think there's only 3 as far as I know.

I've driven mine in the California and Arizona deserts during the summer with no heat issues to the underside of the hood. I hope your hood fits better than mine does.

I have never seen an issue.
