View Full Version : Don't Want My Cobra Rims

When I bought my car it had rims from an 01 Cobra (17x8). Awhile back I bought a front set of 1G TT calipers for a good price, however I need different rims in order for the calipers to fit. Simple enough!
However, I really like the simple look of these rims. The offset puts my tires about 1/4in past the fenders and the spokes curve inward instead of bowing out really far. What I'm trying to find is a wheel that will look similar to what I have but also fit my tires (245/45-17) and clear the calipers while maintaining the same offset. I can't seem to find anything and was hoping someone here would have some recommendations.
Here are the rims. They are painted from the factory which I prefer over chrome or polished.

Here are some rims that aren't bad that all fit a 1G TT. Some don't follow my exact 100% but they are ok. I can't seem to find any painted rims that I like at all.

Golden G195A - Chrome but still nice

Enkei RP05 Silver Gloss - Would prefer this w/no gloss

MSR 090 - 6-spoke

You could try Saleen rims, they would be similar to what you had before.

A spider on here somewhere has the Rp05's. I was looking at them, but decided not...
why not just get cobra 18x8 replicas and call it a day?

why not just get cobra 18x8 replicas and call it a day?
Because I just bought new tires not too long ago and would rather just use them on the new rims, plus I don't want a 40 profile tire. The roads are way too bad here.
How much could I sell my rims for?

40 profile isn't consistent, so your statement doesn't work. For instance, a 275/40 is taller than a 245/40.

I don't plan on getting a wider tire even if I did get new. 245 will fit just fine on an 8in rim, which is as wide as I would go. Either way I prefer a 17" rim.

I didn't mean for you to get a wider tire, the whole "profile" thing is a pet peeve of mine. The correct way to state it would have been something like, "I don't want 18's because of the loss of extra sidewall" or something like that

Look at some Ray's Engineering Volk wheels. The Challenge SF is pretty close to cobra rims, except lighter and more options as far as finish/color.
