Frosted guages

Hi, guys how do I replace the center gauges? I want to keep them looking stock, but I want a more accurate boost gauge. How hard is it to replace the dash once everything is fixed? I will have no problem taking it apart, but after reassembly I dont want to have too many leftover parts, or set off the airbag.

If you have a first gen then the best way is to take down the dash, be very organized as there is a lot of bolts in this process.

60mm gauges will fit in the stock cluster just fine or you can do what i did and dremel the stock brackets to hold 52mm gauges. I suggest dye'n the dash as well while you have the dash out of the car but this is optional and this would be the time to do it.

I dyed my dash black since i had it down since I was installing gauges. Giving it that gloss black look. I love it a lot.

I then took out the center console and the doors and A pillars off and dyed those as well but the dash is the main thing to do as it is the hardest to do.

I just got the car and have not driven it at night, but I sat in it in the garage and turned the lights on. Then you can make out the position of the needles, but its still frosted. Anyone know what this is? Was is cleaned with the wrong solution and the plastic fogged? Do you know if this can be reversed, until I get the new gauges and install them?

You can always take the plastic parts off all it is a casing around the gauge, it is not sealed and there is moisture inside. I am going to assume you live in cold weather.

Well today it was cold, about 45F. But even when its warm out it is like that.

Yeah there is moisture inside and only way I know to fix it is to take down the dash and get back there and clean it out and hide oxygen absorber packet.

If you are going to do that might as well bite the bullet and get some accurate gauges.

I'm willing to bet it got moisture in it and someone tried to clean it with the armor all cleaner, it fogs up plastic nearly instantly...

The regular armor all doesn't do that to my knowledge, I know the cleaner will.

Hmm, could be. That's what I was thinking, someone tried to clean it with the wrong stuff. I just couldn't figure out what. Do you know of any way to reverse this?
