Help with wierd console thing goin on with my Z-71 Siverado started yesterday night.

2001 Silverado Z-71. Last night the stupid heads up console started flashing all this garbage. Low coolant, Low Fuel, Change Oil, Cargo lamp, Washer Fluid. So I pull over into a gas station and pop the hood. No fluid issues or anything oil full and clear on the dipstick. Didn't have time to fiddle with it since I didn't get home till 9 so I left it. Wouldn't you know it I couldn't sleep all damn night because I was thinking about that stupid friggin light.

So when I started it this morning everything was cool for a second, no more oil, fuel, cooland flashes but it keeps flashing "Cargo Lamp" like every 10 seconds. Cargo lamp turns on and off, all interior lights work, parking lights work. So what gives? When I turn the cargo lamp on the light stays on on the console, and when I turn it off it flashes on the console. :confused1:

Had this truck for years and never one problem. Is this a mind-fug game to service the light or something? Are there two light bulbs in the lamp or something? Anyone know GM's real good?

Bad ground somewhere.

I don't see why there would be a bad ground but I'll check. There's no wires under the dash on the drivers side really. The truck is in excellent shape. Lot's of highway miles daily so I figured the electrical and charging system is in great shape. I was thinking the display was going out or the comptuer was on the fritz. I don't want to start strippin this car apart too it's my DD. I'll check the switch and light for shorts.

Get a schematic before you tear anything apart. All those sensors probably share a common ground or the computer has a reference ground thats bad. Should be easy to spot in a schematic.

I'm not sure about 1500's, but reading on the Duramaxforum, early Duramax's (2001-2004) had guage cluster issues. Just something to look into
