Whenever I log into the forums section, the little icon rarely will show up blue for a new post in that topic. It will do it per thread but not for the big topic. I don't know if I am the only one that notices that, however it deters me from looking on here since I am only interested in the new stuff that happens.

The forum software is not set to show forums that have new posts. That is not an option.

The forum will shows threads with new posts.

Have you considered using the "new posts" link at the top of the page? It shows threads with new posts regardless of the forum.

Tapatalk seems 2 work well listing new topics

Took me a few hours to realize there was a "new posts" link under the forums too.

Also, the little arrow next to the forums category does change from pointing down to pointing right and becoming a bit brighter if there are new posts in that forum. It is very easy to miss on the default vBulletin skin.
This works for all the forum categories except for the "Site Links" section.

Wish vBulletin was much more customizable!
