So, I have been looking for a rear spoiler for about two weeks now. I don't plan on buying it for a little while.. but something really just hit me. (I'm an idiot, I know.) My spoiler is also a back breaklight.

I can't seem to find one that I like and serves the same purpose as the one I have.

Any suggestions? Maybe point me in the right direction?

:Doh:

You can run w/o a third brake light. Most states don't care. Otherwise, the 99 vr4s have a light mounted inside the rear window (like most other vehicles), just rig something up like that.

Well, I could always find one without the back brake*** light. However, I was curious to know if there are some.. that are not stock that can be hooked up as a spoiler and a back brake light..?

The 97-99 "hoop" spoiler has a center brake light in it:

So that's all? I was expecting to find so many more options. I suppose I am just silly.

iirc, base stealths had the 3rd brake light like 99's did: mounted inside the rear window. you can always use that.

fwiw, n/a wing mounted 1-2" further back than the stock location is pure sex.

I'll have to look that up. The one mounted in the rear window. I know I want to get rid of the spoiler I have. It's beautiful how it is.. but.. I need to add a little "Stakie-pizzazz".

i think subtle works best on these cars. keep that in mind. whatever you put on there should look OEM. metal pillars look tacky & ricey.

Ugh, like the ones people put on those little civics!? Ew. No, something a little bit more classy. I'll find some pictures of ones I have seen and enjoy the look of.

````
So, I couldn't find pictures of many.. none on dodge stealths but on the gts...
I know this one is someone's signature..somewhere. So hopefully I won't get yelled at for just showing this. I really LOVE that spoiler.
I even like the ones that come stock on the gts...
If I find more I will post them.
For some reason I like the hoop spoilers...usually I wouldn't say that but they just seem to work on the 3k's imo. What year is the car? Toss on some active aero goodies ;)
The first pic - that's the NA wing that inperfectdarkness was talking about.
The second pic is the hoop spoiler. I've got a white one in the garage somewhere, for sale, if you're interested.
You will have to forgive me. I am not good with names and acronyms sometimes. (I did say I was an idiot..right?)
Then, I really love the NA wing, could someone link to a place that sells them... so I can look at prices?
Shoot me a price for the hoop spoiler and let me know if it has the brake light or not. =3
you can find either one of those in the "for sale" section. if not, i'm sure one of our vendors can hook you up. i'd say you could probably find a good condition n/a wing for $100 shipped. the hoop is probably a little more. all hoops have the brake light, unless someone modified it.
Ohhh, that sounds lovely then. I am guessing the wing can not have a brake light on it. So I suppose I may go with the hoop. But who knows right? I really appreciate all the help! Feel free to send more info my way! =3
not have a brake light? rofl! they ALL come with a 3rd brake light stock. only the 99 combat wing didn't have the 3rd brake light.
here's some pics of my car with the n/a wing; before and after the r/t conversion.
Q45 Reverse lights grafted into R/T center panel! lots of pics! (http://florida3s.com/forum/past-work/19515-q45-reverse-lights-grafted-into-r-t-center-panel-lots-pics.html)
Inperfectdarkness AWD ATX Conversion! (http://florida3s.com/forum/past-work/19522-inperfectdarkness-awd-atx-conversion.html)
keep in mind that it's in the stock location. as i was saying, if you mount it just a BIT further back, it looks better. it's a subtle change, but one that makes a LOT of difference; similar to the change between 91-95 banana & the 96 banana.
p.s.
sorry i can't pull out specific pics. i'm at work & it won't let me access photobucket.
We have the na wing in stock. $75. you can pick any color you want. :)
We have multiple hoop spoilers in stock too, $150 for the whole 3 pieces and the brackets and bolt covers plates.
Ohhh! How much is it to install as well for the na wing? O__O Who would of thnk the cooler of the two cost less. =3
well, you'll want to weld up the holds from your original spoiler, then prep, prime, and paint the "rain tray", then drill new holes and install the spoiler:
without painting the spoiler $400
with paintig the spoiler $650
plus the cost of the spoiler.
Thank you. =3
Seems like all the "small" things I want to do.. aren't so small afterall. The light I want alone are like 800.
So worth every penny.
option B:
buy a black wing, and install it yourself using a tape-measure and the stock holes for reference. then paint any exposed metal from the old wing & jb weld plastic-cap or tape over the old holes. (LOTS of threads on this from guys who have done it).
option C: same as above, but buy any color wing & rattle-can it.
I am not so worried about getting it on. It's more so about getting the brake light to work without me messing something else up. I figure I can get my mechanic to do that.. since he is helping with the motor issue.
I am sure it doesn't take TOO long to put on a spoiler, right?
Emilie@GZP
if you want it straight, it does. lol
joking aside, the hardest part is welding the old holes shut, grinding them smooth, finishing them off, priming, and painting for a stock-finish. If you really don't care how clean of a job it is, some rubber circular plugs and call it a day.
as far as the brake light? all 3/s's should have wiring to the hatch for a 3rd brake light. it's either on the wing, or inside the window; but it IS there.
all you'd need to do is splice it and run it back to wherever you mount the center post for the wing. the wiring should still, ideally, be covered by the interior hatch panel.
The third brake light will plug right in if you use a factory wing. You really can't screw it up.
I am honestly not sure what to say to that. =o(
he's 100% right, it should plug right in. but since i've only taken apart my 3kgt, i can't say for certain if the wiring from the stealth banana is long enough to reach. ditto for 99/stealth base interior 3rd brake lights.
Hans just said it "will plug right in".
I assure you, I can make things that should work.. not work. And I am digging the wing to NOT be in the stock location so...
