I would like to see a hood that matches our body lines and has the function of some of the supercar hoods. Were it has that deep lip that basically submerges below the top of the front bumper in order to draw air through the radiator and over the hood. Also I think this idea is better than say the top secret so water doesn't specifically drip on the engine if you are stuck in a parking lot and it started to rain. I think there is enough space to do it so the hood dips in the space between the rad and front head.
that's not a cowl hood. a cowl hood (like kaze makes) has a bulge next to the windshield.
although i agree that venting the engine bay is a very good idea, i honestly do not feel that you could ever create such a vent as you describe; there just isn't enough room. and if you built up the height of the hood to afford the room to do it, it would no longer flow with the lines of the car.

Its possible, but ive never seen one for a car that wasnt custom made, mostly because you need full ducting to make it even close to effective. Theres a guy over on one of the major DSM forums making one for his road race car as we speak. I was thinking about the idea when I eventually have a race car as well. The vents are more vertical than you think, so itd fit.
EDIT: and yeah its not a cowl hood, our OEM hoods have a cowl for induction.

Well I am not sure what to call it then. But it is for induction through the radiator....

some good info there
you'll notice how the cars he's referencing are mid-engined; i.e. the motor isn't in the front with the radiator.

Thanks! That is actually what I am talking about.
Yes, even though I am talking about mid engine vehicles, this is what I meant.
if you can make it work, great. the advantage mid-engine cars have is that there's no engine behind the radiator/intercooler; making it a LOT easier to run ducting.
