I will admit I do not know the AFC well enough to pick which one will make it to face the Packers. But It will be the Packers from the NFC that will take it all.
GB>than AFC

let me put this in simple terms.

steelers last ring: 2008 total appearances: 7
packers last ring: 1996 total appearances: 4
bears last ring: 1985 total appearances: 2
jets last ring: 1968 total appearances: 1

personally, only a jets-bears game holds interest to me.

The Packers on the Jets seem to be on a roll lately so that's my vote. At the same time though pretty much every matchup I've guessed this post season has been wrong. :p

Alot of votes for Packers over Steelers. The Pack haven't versed a defense like the Steelers can provide. And the Packers newfound running game won't stand a chance against the best rushing defense in the league. Plus with Troy Polamalu and Ryan Clark in the secondary, it's hard to write them off.

While all that is true the packers defense is second only to the steelers in regular season play. The running game is not meant to win the game but to provide an option so that the defense does not face a one dimension team. That is all it has to do. But as the Steelers have not faced the Packers during this season then it follows that the Steelers have not faced a defense as tough as the Packers this year either. Remember they are number 2. I will finish with the Packers are in the zone right now the Steelers will have to amp up to match them. But we are putting the cart before the horse. Lets take care of the conference games first. Then we can talk smack.

IPD
01-19-2011, 01:19 AM
...but that's not how it works. the smack-talking about teams facing the steelers starts in the pre-season for stealthee.

you both don't make any sense.

if you love your team that much, it would be better to have lost to the eventual super bowl champion; not a team who came up short. losing to the eventual winner makes your team look better than losing to someone who lost to someone who lost to the winner.

No they make perfect sense. You don't want the team you hate to win the Super Bowl, period.

No one cares who lost in the Wild Card round, or the Divisional round or the Conference Championship for that matter. All that matters is who wins it all.

CoreyB

Stealthee is right. This year Pats fans hate the jets more than any team. Rex's mouth running along with his team really makes it annoying when they win. I would have any team but the jets win.

if the jags were in and the colts were out, i'd root for the jags. same for the titans.

pats fans are just prima-donnas; as evidinced by their unwillingness to root for their division.

While it is great to win the Superbowl. I find that statement to be quite untrue. Maybe for you, yes. Ask any Packers or Bears fan and I'm sure they will tell you they do care who wins the NFC championship. Sort of a big deal. Again, maybe not you, nor would I expect it to be. ;)

I think you proved its one single Colts fan is an idiot. You do NOT root for your rivals. You don't want them to have the bragging rights. Your team doesn't look better just because someone from your division wins the Superbowl.

QFT.

our unwillingness to root for our rivals. why the hell should i be rooting for "our division" when the teams in it are our direct rivals? that makes little to no sense IMO.

i'd much rather see a rival team not win the championship than have them win and then say "yup, we lost to the team that won it all. shucks. maybe next year!"

the definition of division is not "list of teams i should root for"

IPD

it just proves you had a stronger division. and personally, i'd rather have an "acceptable" record against a tough division than a great record against a cupcake division.

Two years ago when Pittsburgh beat Baltimore in the AFC Championship and went on to win the Superbowl do you really think the Ravens took any consolation in that they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champs? Hell no they didn't. They hate us and they didn't want us to win. Had Baltimore beat us last week I damn sure would not be rooting for them this week. I guess Steelers fans are primadonnas too.

everybody already knew that the AFC east had two strong teams in it...all it proves is that one made the wildcard.
what about a great record in a tough division? i'd rather have my cake and eat it, too.
