It's very very similar to MMCd with some of my own "this would be better"s. You can find a "proof of concept" in the android market under MMCdroid

This only supports the OBD1 protocol, I'm not sure how similar the OBD2 stuff is so we
may go down that road later.

As soon as I figure out the differences - yes. And I may *MAY* port this to the iPhone.. it's far too lucrative of a market.. but for now, I'd prefer to rub it in Apple's white-boxed, overpriced, prissy face.
