I read some old threads on 3si about some people making them, but I can't seem to find any now. Do they still exist?

I am sure you know of the urethane ones? 3sx makes those. Why do you want solid ones?

rawavr4

Yea but they're like $340 or something just for the diff bushings. I figure solid ones would be much cheaper. i cant justify spending close to $400 (after taxes) for 4 bushings.

If I could get ahold of some stock bushings and someone was willing to test them I might be able to come up with something.

That would be awesome. If you come up with anything, I'll buy them, but I don't beat on my car so i wouldn't be able to say anything about strength. I'm sure someone else wouldn't mind being the guinea pig.

With power, they could potentially egg a hole couldnt they?

i would love to give them a try! i am trying to reduce as much loss through my drivetrain as possible and have heard that this helps some.

Dynamic Racing made them for a while, you can see if they still have a set.

I remember they had the solid subframe bushings, but neither those or the diff mounts are on their website.

If there is play around the bushing then yes. If they're made as a press in bushing then it will stay tight.

So Maximal, do you think you might be able to whip something up this fall?

I will be tearing my car down again this winter, so if you would like i can send you my dif mounts to see what you can come up with, and come spring time i can give them some real testing.

As long as I get some stock bushings (and it looks like I might from Austin) then I should be able to figure something out with them. If I remember they're not that complicated so I don't think it'll be an issue to come up with something fairly quickly.

Sweet. I'm looking forward to buying these.

So is anybody secretly making these yet?

I'll look into it for ya. I've got a ton of rear diff carrier brackets at the shop.

Alright cool. My one bushing in the rear is shot and sagging. I want solid mounts everywhere lol

Any downsides to solid mounts there? Vibration/noise? More or less wear on other parts?

Hans@GZP

If you have a solid mounted engine, it only makes sense to solid mount your rear diff. I'm sure you may feel a little vibration, but that's what you get with solid mounts. I'll also be looking into poly bushings for the rear as well.

Only downsides I've experienced is if there are any loose interior parts on the car, you'll hear them due to the vibration (Then you know what to tighten, so not so bad after all). But that's only when taking off from a stop. If you interior is tight then you probably won't hear anything. And phantom knock which some people get. Vibration at idle isn't as bad as most people say. My dad DDs a caddy and has never commented on my cars vibration when he drives it. I recommend them.

Cool, thanks for the info! I'll have to get some solids for the rear when I do all the bushings then :)

I've got a set of diff bushings that Maximal can borrow, I've got them off the car right now and it will be down for awhile. If you wanted to do subframe bushings too I've got those too.

Is 3sx the only place to buy all the bushings for the car in poly.??

i believe c3 motorsports has put together a kit. give them a call they are one of the sponsors here

I didn't see anything on their site, and their drivetrain section doesn't show any parts.

Going to attempt to get the rear subframe out this weekend. Based on the pics that have been posted, these will not be too difficult to make, but getting my time (other than for work) is these days. I will try to update you this weekend as I still feel making these is a possibility and I can definitely price them under $300.

Have the rear subframe out, but I am not going to tackle the subframe bushings until winter. Still on jackstands and want to drive sooner than later so solid bushings wait. I already regret not buying a cfds and everything is still apart!

I just ordered new oem diff bushings. 4 @ 26$ each can't complain

rawavr4

I might just go that route if I have to. I prefer solids though.

$26? I got them for ~$10 a piece a few months ago. What's the part # you used?

yeah because most of your addresses don't work, lol. I got so many packages back from Canada with "address errors" that I stopped shipping to Canada too.

Never ha an issue and I order lots of shit

deemo99
10-18-2011, 08:26 AM
I never put the car back together this summer (we bought a boat) so perhaps I could try to tackle this soon? Given the whole rear subframe is still laying in the middle of the garage mostly assembled:Doh:now seems like a good time.

Solid rear subframe busings?
Solid read diff bushings?
Or both?

rawavr4
10-18-2011, 09:37 PM
Probably just diff. If DR isnt making solid subframe bushings anymore then you could get a few buyers if they're quality made. I'm just going to source a diff mount bracket and find some aluminum bushings I can press in.

Use a sawz-all to take the old bushings out. Thats the easiest way. Then freeze the new bushings and press them in but dont stop once you start to push them in or they will just stop going into the bracket and you will be banging them in the rest of the way. Even the brackets with the bushings already installed from Mitsu are not that expensive. I wire brished and painted mine but I should have just bought the whole thing new and painted them with underbody

I'd like solid as well. to match the engine solids.
