Redline MT-85 75W85 GL-4. Anyone on here running this? Essentially this should be the same as mixing MT-90 with MTL (I have heard both 50/50 and 70/30). Just curious as to how you liked it, any complaints etc...

I believe they finally decided to make an 85 for the EVO and others that required a 50/50 mix, it should be just as good if not better than the mix, I think it's too new for anyone to actually have been running it long enough to give decent a review on though.....go get some and let us know! ha

It's too new for anyone to have really been running it long enough for now. I still have a box of MTL and MT90 in the garage, but I might buy MT85 and try that after I'm done break in. I have a feeling it's going to be pretty sweet :)

Im sure it will work well. I have ran straight mtl with very good results in the past.

I gotta get off my ass so I can get my "to do " list done. Gotta fix that driveway first...ugh.

Yes! I did a drivetrain fluid change last month, and it was much more convenient than my required mixing in the past. I have done the 50/50 and 40/60 previously.

I had good results with straight MT90, until it got cold. Swapped to the mix in the VR4, and it was golden.
edit: didn't reload before I posted. Nice to see someone using MT85 :)
Been using Castrol VMX-M...4L is ~$41 :) seems to work just fine

I'm running MT85 in my drivetrain, and it has VASTLY improved my shifting and all around feel of my transmission. Needless to say, I had some generic shitty ass GL-4 in there before, but shifting was very notchy and required some decent force to get into 1st. Since I switched to all Redline fluids in my drivetrain, everything has been much smoother and more enjoyable to drive. I haven't put a ton of miles on it yet, but I noticed a difference in shifting the moment I drove it home from the shop.

I'll be swapping this in when I do the 60K. Scared of what the PO has in there.

Oh wow! Time flies when you are having fun!
Since then, I have also done the drivetrain fluid change using RL for a '93 VR-4. It sure is good stuff for the price.

If I'm displeased with the results I'll be going with the trans fluid that won the recent poll on 3si.

^Are you referencing the DiaQueen fluid that is the stock fill on Evolutions?

No, evidently this is the OEM fluid that was put into the 3/s. $3.89 a liter.
ChargerX3 recently switched from his old fluid to this, curious how it's holding up.

Where are you able to find the Diamond Gear Oil in liters, and at that, for $3.89? All I can seem to find is the 5 gallon containers.

Evidently they had it on hand at his local Mitsubishi. I would verify this, but the closest dealership is approximately 2 hours away from where I live.

Just curious because I had called the Mitsubishi dealer and they quoted me $230 for 5 gallons, which is $11.50 a quart.

Initially it held up fine. Once cold weather came around i was back to the same notchy shifting. I think it mixed with the redline that was already in there and caused it to change its properties over that time. I still have a fresh gallon to swap in if i choose to do so. Probably wont do that though until i install a trans brace.

Changed all the fluids out a little while ago, made a world of difference. We'll see how well it holds up.

As MB3000 posted, we sell it as well as all the Redline line of oils.
Been selling the MT85 for a while now and all our customers agree it works very well.

Just to update this, I ran the NP Redline kit in my 92 vr4 up until September, when the car was totaled. I had great results and will be ordering another kit when the time comes.
The NP kit gives you the right amount of fluids to fill up and have some to spare if you spill some, etc.. but not too much that you're paying for fluids that you don't need. Best value around!
