View Full Version : How many 1000HP+ 3/S's are out there?
akotten

It seems within the last year or so there have been multiple 3S cars reaching 900-1100AWHP. Is there any way we can compile this list? I know Ray has seen a few of these now. Maybe make a club out of it? haha Not that it really mean's anything to anyone else, but those that have accomplished it really have put in the time, money, and dedication to the platform to make it happen. Really, in the end I'm just trying to get a number of how many there are.

1000+ AWHP? 1 confirmed that I know of. Nelson. (I don't remember if anyone else broke the 1k mark)
Lots of varying factors involved in the 'highest dyno' category, which is why we stick to who's the fastest down the drag strip.

Um matt monett and nelson for sure. Others close I know. Several 900's posted graphs. I am pretty sure t4 and some east coast guys lately, were in 900's. Drag strip is where it is at though. Dyno's do not do it for me. Just to use as a tuning tool.

I remember chris had high 900's and I dont remember if he added a little more just to break the mark or not. His quicklist is a good list. although it is old and not updated. http://www.3squicklist.com/ I alos remember some russian guys going real big a while back and going over 1000, I am pretty sure were trying to hit 1500, but didnt make it.

as far as i knew matt was ~1400, nelson... no idea but i always thought it was 1000+, i thought ray had something like 7XX on pump and 1000+ on race fuel in his vr4 with the pit road M body kit, not his red dr turbo'ed car. no idea who else, but im sure there are others. didnt someone throw up a vid of Taz's car on youtube as 1000hp 3000gt vs 700hp supra or something? i dobut the title is accurate but who know maybe he really is 1000+hp. theres got to be a few others.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree that its just a dyno number and all that matters is at the track. I was just curious. Maybe more like 900+? I thought I remember seeing a 3.5 or 3.7 with like mivec heads and E85 on Ray's dyno. Also wasn't there some guy from Europe that made a beast with some footage of it eating lambos and supras all day?
While there are many factors on the dyno, there are also many factors at the track (aka weight, F=MA ;) ). Most of us know who the fastest guys are, and I applaud them. I'm just curious how many of our cars out there really are making ridiculous amounts of power.
I know that Pit Road M's gold 3.1L GTO puts out 960HP (article (http://www.urbanracer.com/articles/anmviewer.asp?a=2711)). I know its not 1000HP, but still pretty close. Its actually for sale now, for ¥6,888,000 (was ¥8,800,000). :w00t:

After searching through Nelson's threads looking for a 1k+ dyno, between 'reckons' and 'actuality' is a large gap.

I think 3sx was in the 990s when they were pushing the car hard one day.
Ray said over 1000 AWHP, but didn't post a chart (not that I doubt him). Nelson claims to have a chart for 1348 AWHP.
Matt monet posted a chart around 1100 IIRC.

I'm pretty sure Matt posted up about his race car being 1031 awhp.
Italo Grasso's mivec 3.7L ? It was over 900 awhp.
I think Nelson had some videos on youtube making 12XX awhp.
Rays car over 1000 awhp on race gas.
3sx's T4 was almost 1000awhp.
The Russian car making 12xx awhp.
Thats all I can remember reading about. Few more out there that aren't finished but I'd say they would make 1000 easy....

Leonel? Has a 3.7L 6G74 with twin 6262's, it'll knock out 1000 easy. The guy from France, Saf? has almost the same build going I think.
The guy that bought Jrod's 3.5L and 5857's should be easy.
The NW3S racecar had some 800+ numbers. Other strokers and big dr's out there too. Just no numbers yet.

Dale (97VR4 from Socal3s) will be there soon as he made 660+ on 19T's. Nelson has set a goal of 1800+, Matt stopped, and I will making over 1000 when I'm done. There's a youtube vid of a Triple Charged 3/S, so we'll see about that.

I just wanted to say 835 awhp for a daily driver stock heads and cams is very impressive. Full weight street luxury items and all. Do you still have A/C working? If you do that is awesome in my book. Just about what I want to do. Was hoping to do it this winter. But it will have to wait another year yet.

Power is awesome but the cost to do so seems to go up exponentially with HP and only a select few have the resources to so so. That being said maybe a list that covers the gambit of HP achievements out there in our world could also be accumulated. I see no problem using Dyno numbers as the proof. Yea, strip times and speeds are great but there are so many variables involved like lane, track conditions, launches, shifts or misses, altitude, etc. that even two evenly matched cars are going to turn in different numbers. Plus how many times has the second car to the lights actually had the fastest speed or time. A list like the following would be very interesting to see as so many other incredible cars would also be on it. Just a thought.
Something like:
500 HP
…
600 HP
…
700 HP
…
800 HP

900 HP

1000 HP+

bc stroker with the tripple ball bearing turbos from 3sx, the 50 trim equivilant. with new german ball bearing center sections added since ive completed the build. id like to convert to t/3-t/4 hotsides someday but, for now this car is very fast and hasnt not done anything ive requested of her and, she's got alot more tune to sqeeze out. ive been told she's good for 800awhp but that would be 35lbs boost and she's a rocket at 17lbs!

Question for everyone. Should I dig through the other site and try to find cars for the list, or keep it relative to those on here that earn their places? I'd like it to represent the entire community, but I also don't want cars that have changed ownership several times, not running anymore, etc.

no awd dyno in ak and my guess was based off your car with 50 trims. your hitting 800+ awhp and ive got tripple ball bearing 50 trims with a stroker and built heads so i think im close. i run 100 octane only and, it wont be run at full power(over 20 lbs boost) till i add another fuel pump. split hairs if you like im not bragging, i know my car could hit that number if it was really important to me. [end quote]
I see where you are coming from, but remember I ran over 30psi and 95% ethanol 5% methanol to get those numbers
Just busting your balls. Just a pet peeve when people post numbers before they have any.

i said if i ran over 35lbs boost i could get over 900hp. im just going by what you said she's good for so i copied the post from the other site so you will know im not putting words in your mouth. i guess it might be cool for you to find out some numbers as you have a dyno avail, you sell the turbos, and i do not. ive been going by your quote as my max hp as there is no way for me to test my car in ak. i can say the new ceramic sections that were installed at the turbo manufacturer(dont they have any charts for the turbos they sell?) and they spin much better than when i got them(wouldnt spin freely at all!). car spools like it has dr500's on her.
again heres my mods list to show that i have given all my money to 3sx. not to be an ass but i love 3sx, never say anything bad about them,i even stick up for them in threads. yet, whenever i mention my car in a thread you have to knock me down some way. as ive stated many times numbers dont mean shit to me(everyone here treats them like scripture) but since i dont have access to a dyno i have only your info to go by so, if you say she's "probably" good for 800awhp thats all i have to go on. so please dont bash someone that loves 3sx, gives them every spare dime he earns builds his best with thier best, and you tell me its lame.
3sx td05 kit with ss headers, terminator tripple ceramic ball bearing turbos, brian crower 3.4l stroker kit with billit crank, ross forged pistons,3sx h beam rods, ss dumppipes,ss downpipe, tial external wastegates(1.0bar spring, leaded gas),high flow metal mesh fuel filter, bigger fuel lines, dual feed fuel rail adapter, fuel lab fuel pressure regulator with guage. dual walbro fuel pumps hotwired(rdr method at the pump),kenne belle boost-a-pump,arc2 with big mas,2 arm(narrowband a/f)units,one per bank,k&n filter,720 denso injectors, rps cynergy segmented flywheel, spec stage 4+ clutch, dynamic racing stage 2 heads(ported polished, headlift fix by ray),ported polished lower intake, custom plenum with internal velocity stacks, huge fmic, ceramic coated fmic pipes 2&3 inch,e boost 2 ebc,j&s safeguard timing control box(individual cylinder knock control),prosport digital egt and a/f ratio guages, hand held halo hybrid datalogger, oil catch can, radiator breather tank, tial qr style bov(recirculated),solid motor mounts,tc bracket, rear cusco rear strut bar, solid motor mounts,tc bracket, rear cusco strut bar, billet oil pump gears, stillen drilled rotors&pads,ss brake lines, caliper stiffening bolts, samco hoses, single shot cat back,no cats, magnacore 10.5mm silcone plug wires,2 step colder plugs,19 row oil cooler,a/c delete, cruise delete, power radiator, flexalite fans,3sx cam gears.
i am not a kid that thru on a couple mods and quoting hp gains from what the mod says it adds. im on my 6th build and kinda know what im doing and have not bragged at all about any number. i just look at what others have and thier numbers, compared to my mod list, and thats the best i have to go on. somewhat educated but not scientific for sure.

hey guys, mine at 20psi and pump made 740whp 620wtq in september 09. a month or so later it made 1075whp.. dont remember the tq at29psi. i was at the dyno dynamics i was renting and it climbed the front of the rollers and almost came off.. it was an aborted run with not a great chart so i never printed it. i was planning on going to a dynojet for full pulls so i would have printed a chart there.
one thing led to another... we bought our own dyno, took forever for us to get it running... i havnt had my car on it yet because its covered in dust sitting in my garage at home. im changing some stuff around and il have the car here at some point this winter and do the real race gas dynos...

October 29th, 2009 TX Gathering, hot-lapped on the dyno... Started at ~350 AWHP and ended at 584 AWHP & 561 AWTQ on 104.x octane @ ~30 psi. I had knock issues, otherwise I would have pushed it harder on the timing side. I don't care if you add me to the list, this number isn't something I'm proud of, haha... I'll go again when I have a fully-functional transmission and get the 600 AWHP number I'm after.

Well lucky for me, I'm stuck at home for Christmas break during an ice/snow storm, so I have some time to do some research. I'll look for it. :)

imho, ~500 club is pointless. there's probably a lot more members there than you can shake a stick at; and a good percentage of them aren't even that active in the community. not saying that it's not an accomplishment--but the actual numbers are large enough that it attenuates the specialness of that milestone. there's three cars in warner-robins alone that are in that ballpark; and this is a town of less than 100k people.
p.s.
before anyone goes CRAZY...i'll suggest that a reading of eugene's thread on "that site we will not speak of" is highly applicable to newcomers reading this thread. 500awhp is good limit for what you can use on the street. and that goes 2x if you're looking at RWD.

we should have it with each type of dyno because a dynojet reads higher than mustang. That way we can compare all about the same. Hopefully i get time in the next couple of weeks to check the measurements on the 2nd machine shop, and hopefully if they did their job right i can start assembly on mine. I should make 1k after engine break-in.

Wow time flies. Did ~ 663awhp/607tq over 5 years ago on the local mustang dyno with the old e16g setup. No big boost dyno runs on my newer setups only tuning sessions so nothing for direct comparison. Maybe next year I'll get the car out of storage.

What would E85 3.5L with twin 16g put me at? 650? Haven't got to a dyno. No AWD dyno anywhere near here to put it on.

I'm guessing these are all corrected numbers? Matt, what was the correction on yours, it's just barely cut off in the pic. Impressive as hell none the less. Were those unmodded heads too Matt?
I'll tell ya this much, on my car or with the heads I have (92 un-surfaced heads) will bend or flex and fill up the overflow bottle at just shy of 850 WHP. (28psi GT4094R) Which reminds me, Ray, still doing the head fix stuff?
I haven't used correction factors, even being at a mile high in Denver. I want to know what it does here, where I race, not in Seattle or San Diego. Matt, you're a mile high as well, correct?

3.0L w/ 16g's on pump+meth will make 600awhp alone. i don't honestly know when 16g's are tapped out, but adding another .5L and race-gas/e85 should allow you to push it QUITE a bit further.

what setup are you goin with to make 600? dr750 probably?
Yup.
Another thing for the thread, should there be a distinction as to the kind of fuel used? Obviously pump numbers wont be as high. Nelson would be the only person over 1000 on pump (and maybe Andre when his setup is finished). I think there should at least be some note as to what fuel was used.
