I know it is not happening, but damn I wish someone could stamp out an OE styled aluminum hood.
Half the weight of steel and none of the draw backs on fiberglass/carbon.
My ranger's got an aluminum hood and other than being light you can't tell, it is a shame that mitsu didn't stamp our hood original in aluminum.

I'd love to, but I can't see it being cost effect, the dies to stamp them out would never pay for themselves.

I love the stock cast iron hood. Doesnt even wiggle until you are approaching 150mph:)

I wish too!
I know about the floopy hood at high speed, but what about an accident with FG/CF, it must offer much less proctection then OEM hood ? Any info on this !?

Aluminum hoods are... well... My hood is light, but almost any dent renders the hood useless. It's not cost effective to fix.

My honest educated opinion beleives the hood offers no real protection in the event of a crash. The core support, bumper and bumper shocks do the job.

Stock hoods are 60lbs. Average FG hood is 18lbs.to22lbs. Aluminum would be cool if cost effective.Polished, clear coated or ZOOP lol

255k miles and 12 years on the truck and this hasn't been a problem.

The 3S is also MUCH lower to the ground... Plus, a mass production hood on your truck is much cheaper to buy if you ever do have an issue. A one off hood for a 3S is going to be next to impossible to replace.
Not worth the money, IMO.

? And your fiberglass hood can't be damaged or de-laminate randomly?
I'm not sure if you read the thread, no where did I say it was worth the money, quite the contrary.

You asked why nobody bothered making one. It wouldn't be worth their time and money. A fiberglass hood is a heck of a lot cheaper than an aluminum hood.

Where did I ask that?

Poor wording here too. You said you wished somebody would make one. I was providing examples of why it's not a good idea, and why it won't happen :p I'm not intentionally being an asshole, really!
if it was made and sold for sub 1K I'd buy one...I have a FG and a CF and I like neither of them :p
