I'm thinkin that they would destablize the air headed to the rear spoiler, but i'm no genius!

Hmm...wonder how that would look on a 3S...the roofline is pretty "smooth" on a 3S so I'm not sure if this would throw it off or not. Where's the photoshop experts?

+1 this wouldn't be a bad idea IMO

If it was to work, someone would have to make it 3S specific so that it matched the lines of the roof, not just a generic/universal one.

sorry to the owners of the vehicles, just needed an image that would work. and these are just to get a gist, itll probably still look good on a second gen, would fit the aggressiveness of a 99 probably too. if anyone supplies good pictures i can see what else i can do.

First of all, thank you unknown for bringing this to my attention.
I'm kind of fundamentally against purely aesthetic body modifications... especially ones that decrease downforce and disrupt airflow. That being said, it doesn't look too bad. I could make one out of fiberglass pretty easily.
A couple questions - how much of an angle would you like it to be at? should it lay parallel to the roof, or come up at an angle?
How should it be attached? the washer nozzle will probably have to be removed or relocated. The black strip at the top of the rear hatch is removable, but I forget how it's attached. Maybe I could make something that replaces the black strip and uses the same mounting clips or whatever it uses.
I'm on the fence about it. If I saw some more interest and some commitments I'd be much more inclined to start working on it.

answering the angle question. I think more of a "roof extension" would look sweet, rather than something that has a duck bill style to it with a more aggressive angle.

What about sunroof spoilers/wind deflectors does anyone have anything on their 3/s like that?

Just went outside to check clearances.
The way our hatches open, the spoiler can not be taller than the rear nozzle until after the nozzle ends (if you wanted it duck bill style) or it will hit when you open the trunk. I believe a flat one would be ok.
Also if we want them stretching across the whole back glass and extend to the side glasses (on 3000s only) we may have to make them in 3 pieces. (im not sure, i didnt check on this)

the stealth sails would NOT work with this, imho. i'm on the fence. i think the roofline of a 3/s is pretty damn perfect to begin with. adding this doesn't really "grab" me.

I'm still struggling with the why's. Are you that bored with the car you need to add body parts? I walked past a Honda Prelude today which had a wing on the hood where the wiper water shoots from. (as per the Toyota Celica) It's just silly where people want aerodynamic features these days. :(

I'm not really a huge fan of any of the factory spoiler offerings for our cars (AA wing is nice I guess), so if a roof spoiler was made that complimented a wingless look then i'm sure i'd at least consider it...

I think it'd be a pretty good looking addition to a 3000GT, but I don't think it'd be very fitting on a Stealth, just because of the sail panels. Also I think they should form with the roof a little better, more or less to a degree that it's going to "guide" the airflow to the spoiler.

I like boosted3S' pick. I would commit to buying two, once you go into production. If you were to start a pre-order list, I would sign up. How many confirmed orders would you need to get this project started? If these could be made ready for prep and paint, that would be cool!
It could be attached to the black strip with 3M tape. The black strips are attached with a couple of clips. I deleted my rear wipers, and replaced the black strip on my cars with the ones that don't have nozzles.

For the Stealth, this might flow better with the sail panels.
I was thinking about a more Euro Design, just like the one that they use on BMW, E36, E46 - AC Schnitser style.
what do you think?

all vents face to the rear. yes, it's a backwards scoop (i know what you meant). and i still think it looks good.

I'd be in for one if they were going to production (the one thats an extension of the roof line.) Everytime I see a wingless 3000GT I consider it more and more and this would be a great replacement for the hoop.

Our cars don't need diffusers as the rear window has a very gradual slope to the spoiler compared to the EVO. Just in case you were being serious.
I assume it would help suck even more air down to the wing though?

The style on the white car has my vote for looks, but until we know what we are doing aerodynamically I would be a bit hesitant.
I assume it would help suck even more air down to the wing though?
no. vortex generators do not "suck air" in any direction. they act by delaying flow-separation...which gives trailing-edge control surfaces greater force exertion.
however you want to word it, they would give our cars a greater amount of air onto the rear wing.
