MIMod (My Modifications High Performance)

Pretty sick setup!

Even includes an antitheft system where you have to enter a password to turn on the fuel pumps and to start the car.

Unit displays customized dashboard (style, shape, colors etc) speedo, tach, all sensors (including warnings), fans, wipers, lights, windows, seats, radio, climate controls, GPS, WIFI, HD Radio, Satellite radio, Entertainment pack (MP3, DVD etc..), TPMS (tire pressure temp and pressure), BI-Meteric security, and every engine parameter, all with digital display and operable or visable via touch screen.

They're $1500 :w00t:

Check out the brochure in the link... :thumbup1:

Looks cool. How would it control all of the things it claims?
Mainly climate control, seats and windows?

O.K, Lets frist address how MiMod HP interfaces with something like climate control. I think you will find it quite simple. MiMod Hp can work with the OEM relays in your
vehical wiring harness. This make it possible to adjust things like damper position, heat and A/c control. You can also hook inot your vehical temp indicator as well, allowing you to adjust temp using the auto thermoste feature found in most newer vehicals.
If you happen to have a aftermarket system like vintage air, we can also interface with that unit as well.

As for reading or displaying information laike speed, RPM ect... There are a few ways we can do this. First is to take the information from the vehicals OBDII port. This allows for a single point of connection that would be capable of displaying all the vital engine info. Not only that but with our OBDII option you can diagnois engine issues and codes and clear them for the screen.
But lest say you have an older engine without EFI or computer. Well we got you covered there as well. MiMod HP can display information for digital or anology senders, typlical 5v, but not limited to that. This means you can take and connect each sending unit to the Fusion board of MiMod and display the information you desire. Anything from
Water temp to Speed. You can also do things like out side or cabin temp etc...
We can display or control just about everyhting in the automotive enviorment, Allow a single point of interface for the driver, that is completly customizable.

Thats the basics, let the question begin.

Interesting system. I'm a little curious about why the pic on your site of the gauges behind the wheel is clearly photoshopped. No pictures of that behind the wheel screen actually installed? I'd like more info on that.

So OBDII only?

No, you can either go with OBDII, or you can take a feed from each sender on the engine and display the information that way as well.

The reason we decided to go that route on the web page is becuase we have not yet finished our own bezels yet. We are working on some billet style bezels that will allow a person to have a custom look ,over a square screen. The gauges that as super imposed on the web site are of a set of actual gauges you can display on the MiMod, just over top the original OEM set.
Most people are going to do some interior customizing if they are considering doing a full "ahead of driver" digital display. The possibilties are endless when it comes to design and layout. We just wanted to make the point, that MiMod can be more than a single screen center console system. Nearly half the systems we have sold have been optioned with the "ahead of driver digital display".
We will be updating the web page as time permits and customers send us in pics of their rides with MiMod Hp installed. Sorry I can't be of more help there.

So is each unit is customizable for individual color, cluster layout, gauge, switch size, pod size and screen orientation? Would that mean each unit would require it's own unique bezel rings? What is the weight of the unit and the power requirement?

Not sure what you mean by "pod size", and the switch sizes are optimized for easy accsess. But the rest is correct.
As for the bezels, we offer a few standard gauge layouts. This means the size and position of the gauge on the screen is set. These layouts will be compatiable with our bezels. A customer can still decided what each gauge displays, and the colors ect...
If a person wanted to do a custom gauge layout they can at the time of order. However if they wanted a billet bezel they would either have to make one themselves or have us custom machine one for them.

The weight of the unit is very light, I would estimate 2 lbs or less. As for the power requiremnts. Very minimal. Most customer will wire the MiMod HP to be on continuiosly. Meanng it will go into "sleep mode" when not in use. The drain on the system is such that you could leave the MiMod on in this mode for more than a week without any worry about having enough juice to start you car. Boot up from this state is immediate. If you choose to shut down the system manually form the screen, boot up is still very quick at under 10 sec.

seriously? it's taken 6 FUCKING YEARS for this to become available? goddamn. i had this idea back in 04 & i hasseled EVERY SINGLE VENDOR to make it. including dakota digital.

it's about damn time someone came out with an LCD instrument cluster. kudos to you guys. unfortunately, it still looks like this is in its infancy. i'm looking for something i can adjust colors & layout on the fly. i'd also like to have gauge layouts from a litany of cars available at my fingertips (deuce coupe, 2010 z06, and everything in between). also interested in a variety of readout styles; analog needle, digital numbers, bar, line, pie, etc. the ability to create custom readout profiles and save them would be a huge plus. the ability to display 6-12 readouts in addition to tac & speedo would be a massive bonus; and would eliminate the need for gauge pods. heck, i might even be able to shave the stock center gauge pods if this thing is capable enough.

since my car is obd1, how difficult is it to accurately set things like RPM & MPH? can you adjust MPH readouts for different rolling diameter setups? how much labor is involved in installing this? can the system be set to "full shut down" when the car is turned off, rather than sleep mode? can this be done automatically?

i'm sure more questions will come to me, but those are the first few i can think of. this has type of device has been a WOEFUL oversight to the aftermarket community. i have no desire to use 19th century gauge technology when modding my car in the 21st century; and frankly, the "stack 2" is a boring, fugly POS, imho.

Jamie, My car doesn't have the digital climate control. It has knobs and levers, will this still work on mine? I guess it's still electrical and not mechanical so I'd have to tie into the wiring? Also can you monitor knock and hook a wideband to this thing?

Great questions, here we go.
Yes you can adjust color on the fly, and you can even add or remove switches, relable them etc.. As for cluster layouts. We can do just about any layout you want, send us a pic and we can install them on the MiMod before it ships.
That said we have 3 Standard layouts that we work with for many reasons. First, most OEM layouts lack all the information a racer or tuner would want. But more importantly we are also working on custom billet bezels, so having 3 set gauge layouts makes R&D and CNC'ing cost effective for us and the customer. Don't get be wrong, you can have any custom layout you want, but if you use one of our layout's you will have the option of the Billet bezel that goes over top the screen and makes your cluster look like a Cluster not a rectangle screen.
We have 32 I/O inputs on MiMod which allows you to control and display uo to 32 things, Which in 99% of cases will be plently. If not we can add another 32 for a total of 64.
MiMOd HP has the potential to run multi screens. For eg, we have some customers running a 10" center console touch screen, and two 7' or 8" screen in front of the wheel.
This allows for a dsiplay longer and shorter than the 12" diagonal screen and permits allot more gauges to be displayed at one time, 6-12 shouldnt be an issue. Many of our customers are getting rid of their old gauges and running MiMod HP to display all that information.

The MiMod HP system can be setup to fully shut down when the car is shut off, either automatically or manually, no problem there.

As for the RPM and MPH accuracy, that would be determined by the sender. MiMod displays exactly what information is sent to it. In your case because your OBD1 you would have to take information from each sending unit on the engine, which makes for a little more wiring, but in the end you have a setup with instant response. Where in an OBDII connect MiMod HP is limited to the send rate of the computer, usually a .040 second delay depending on how many perameters a person is trying to pull at one time. Even then, that is well within acceptable perameters for most high performace vehicals.

Lasly, allow me to add. Although MiMod HP is new to the market, MiMod has been tested in electric and hybrid vehicals for some time with the name MiMod EV. As a matter a fact it has been OEM certified, which as you know, is no small task. MiMod HP is the exact same unit as MiMOD EV, Just focused on the "High Performace" side of the auto sector.
Thanks for the questions

Tahnks for the question

Interesting question, depending on the levers. Some older cars have slide lever that opperate cables to cloase and open dampers. In that case, your out of luck. But if your lever opperate electric motors, no problem. All you have to do is take the wire feeds from the levers and knobs and hook them to the proper wires on your fusion board, which will be determined when you setup your layout with customer support. The manual you recive with your unit will indicate the proper connections.

As for seeing the MiMod in a car. You most likely will very soon. We are going to do a video install with one of our customers and post it on You tube.

I have to correct everyone on the price. That price was a PROMO for the Pro touring forum. The promo came with the MiMod HP unit and a back camera/app for $1495.
Reg price is:
MiMod HP- $1870
Back up camera- $187.50
Total savings on the promo was $562.50. The units sold VERY fast. I also discounted some of the options if they order them with the promo unit. Nearly ever unit went out full loaded, bringing the average total to over $725 per unit!!
This is something I would be willing to do for this forum if we can pre sell 5 units. Our lead time is now after Jan 1st, but you will most likely need this time to sort out
what you want your screens to display, graphics etc....

Not sure if i mentioned we are working on a tuning application with Unichip. This would allow you to tune your engien from MiMod HP. You will be able to accsess
Everthing from boost, to spark advance and even things like Nitros or water injection. You can use a pre tune for your basis, or you can totally write your own tune
right from the touch screen. You can even decide to run the engine in closed or open loop.
Can you imagine what you can do with MiMod HP outfitted with this tuning app, OBDII or individual senor monitoring, Accelerometer performance Application, the TMPS (tire pressure and temp) and Wifi option? You can data log information on a pass or test run and then send it to an external HD or computer for later viewing. There is simply no other system on the planet that can offer you this kind of versatiliy.

thanks for the info. i'm not really interested in being constrained into one given layout; even if it's one that i can hand-pick.

i think i'd rather re-fab the dash to accommodate a dual-screen instrument cluster, than to "half-ass" it by shoehorning something in as an afterthought.

i'm not entirely sold on the idea of tuning with this product. perhaps if you were partnered with AEM. i don't know that i'd really put my trust in anything else though. running a piggyback through your display would be nice; but tuning is where it starts to cross the line into mod imbreeding. i don't know that i want skynet running my car.

Thats the beauty of MiMod HP, you have the ability to decide what you want to run and have the system outfitted accordingly. This allows the system to stay streamlined and doesnt clutter it with a bunch of option and applications you will never use.

As for tuning, what it comes down to is how truly capable one is. Most guys want the ability to tune, but have no real idea of what they are doing, those are the plain facts.
We chose to work with Unichip because of their reputation, and their product can be run as a piggy back on any system. Unichip is more than a piggy back and with MiMod tuning can be done in many ways. Either as 2 or 3 preprogramed tunes by simply pressing a button on the screen, or (as stated prior) complelty custom.
There are MANY that want this option, but some, like yourself, may not. That's cool with us, becuase it's all about what each customer desires. We are just making the options available.
Just so you know, if you dont want "sky net" running your car (great line by the way), simply dont purchase Wifi, or turn the option off in the menu. Cheers.

Sorry about that. We can display all the information that the Vehicals computer can. So things like Knock and O2 should not be any issue at all.
To be honest we cn display most any information. Fo eg, say you have a aftermarket EMC and have tuning software for it on your lap top. We can install this
into the MiMod so you can do tuning form the MiMod HP at anytime. We have a growing number of companies that are asking us to interface with their products like that.
As for your cable opperated levers. If you have even limited skills fabricating it would not be difficult to convert those cable levers to motorized. In that case, your could run them with MiMod HP. or you could even change out the basic heating /AC to a newer one from a yard to save some cash. Bottom line is , we can control anything with an electrical current up to 12V with the right relays.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Thanks again.

Cool, the knock and narrowband O2's can be monitored. The thing is my AEM wideband doesn't run through the ECU it just reads out on a gauge. It would be great to be able to run the 0-5 volt signal through this and have the corrections already programed in. IDK if this thing can data log but it would be very cool if it would for tuning purposes. Just wire in the wideband 0-5 volt signal and be able to view all of this info after a pull.

We can display any 5 volt signal you have. So if the Wide band has a 5V signal then we can display the information on the screen. As for calculating corrections... well, If you asking us to take Data from the ODB1 and then information from the stand alone Wide band, and make corrections of on the information, that would be another story. Now your talking about writing a compelelty different app. Not saying we couldn't do it. But that we havnt. Usually we just display the information sent to us by the computer
which does all the calculating. For us to do that we would have some liability issues becuase you would be using our calculations to tune.

I am not sure abut I think that AEM doesn't have a diognositc port which is where we would pull all the inforamtion from. That said, can MiMod HP
still work along side AEM? Yes it can, you could take a feed from each sender on the motor seperately and display the information on MiMod. Essentially
you would have the same information your computer is getting. As for tuning, if you have the tuning software, we can run it on MiMod and plug into the AEM serial port.

If I'm not mistaken there is a chart from AEM that can be put in to data loggers to turn the 0-5 volt signal into a readable display. I like this. A broader issue, is where is IT going and if this or another product would be the nexus that ties this platform to it.

Comments and issues I see are as follows:
1. modular set up; consumers can pick and choose ala carte, and of course add on later.
2. And what is the worst thing about IT??? Its proclivity to be dated and old just after you buy it.
Product has room to grow/ability to remain current if not cutting edge?
3. Vendors need to be able to provide support. Hows the financial statements of provider?
4. Future is touch screens, navigators, connectivity, smart cars, as well as engine management/logging/tuning.

Hoping this doesn't discourage anyone, but opens up ideas on subject.

Yes I believe they have dual systems. As for logging. MiMod can data log. It runs on a loop system so once the alloted space has been filled it begins at the start and writes over old data. That shouldnt be an issue since you will be likely down loading that information long before you fill it. Most people that use this feature will be sending this information to external HD via wifi.

This is one of the reason we made MiMod. The fact that a person can expand, customize, update and change the abilities of MiMod allows the unit to be vastly more
versitile and user friendly than anything in the Automotive market. Just looking into the OEM market, which has set the scence in terms of technology for as long as cars have been made. Tells us the direction things are headed in terms of driver interface. Touch screens, voice command and bio-metric security. Can MiMod support these things, the answer is Yes. Can you turn your older muscle car into a cutting edge gadget machine in line with the best the industry has to offer and more, like tuning and data logging, yes you can.
Will MiMod HP evolve with new technology as it becomes available? You bet.
Not only that but we have some of the best customer support you could ask for. Where most companies give you a product setup the way they designed want it, then tell you how to use it. With MiMod you have the ability to tell us what YOU want. You get to design and add options or aplications that match your needs, style and vehicle layout.
And if your more on the laid back side, just take MiMod HP out of the box and use it's vastly capable Standard layouts and your ready to rock.

That's perfect, Chances are I won't need the old log, so great!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you can keep downloading updates almost like apps on a iphone then this thing will be great. If the support is there it will be awesome.

If you need a guinea pig give me a call. :)

Lots of great things going on in here... Did I hear correcly the unit itself can interface with a standalone computer? Will it load an onboard real time tuning screen from say Megasquirt, EFI Live, Autronic, Fast, AEM, etc ? Is there a touchscreen keyboard to make on the fly tuning adjustments? Since it's WIFI compatable can you load different driving (tuning) profiles from any wireless device, say you want a valet mode?

I also like the feature of a displayable knock sensor with a bar graph and possibly an audible alarm.

I don't think it matters. It basically can display any of the telemetry outputs that can be dispayed. With AEM you can only display 19, with this you can display 32+. Some quick ones from an AEM standpoint

(Thank you SB over at AEM)

Tele1 Data01 Engine Load
Tele1 Data02 ADCR12
Tele1 Data03 Throttle
Tele1 Data04 Air Temp

It will display any of these parameters plus a slew more wether it be in a bar stack, digital graph, simulated gauge or however you want Jamie to program it to look. Regardless of ECU style all of these are displayable. I could see how 32 displayable outputs can fill up fast especially when you add in temp controls, window switches, tire pressure sensors, active aerocontrols, electronic suspension controls and etc.

Cool looking product. Certainly the way of the future. You already have the ability to control windows and climate controls, what about taking over other electronic controls, systems, and functions in the cab like replacing the stereo, providing GPS navigation, cruise control with multiple presets etc? I can envision ripping out all switches in the cabin and going to a "glass cockpit".

Lastly, for guys like me that have more ideas than talent, do you provide installation?

Providing you can get the software you need, we can interface with any Serial port on a given standalone computer. Most companies are more than willing to supply
us with what we need. Knock sensor (or any 5V sender) are easy to display since they send signals in incimates of Volt. So yes you can display it if you desire. We can also
supply warning lights if needed, if you have the stero option and an external amp i think we could even do an Audible alrm with that warning light, or you could simply
use one of the I/O and hook up a electric style Buzzer.

Heck Yeah, MiMod HP is capable of controlling the entire automotive enviroment. We can do all that as a matter a fact, if you check out or web site (www.MiModHP.com) you will see we already offer options for GPS, Satellite and HD Radio, WiFi, Entertainment Utility (Mp3 and video). We are working on , TMPS (tire prssue/Temp monitoring), Accelerometer performance meter, bio-meteric security and some other cool stuff. That said, if you want MiMod to run the Radio/Cd/MP3/Video you will still need an external amp and speakers.
As for things head lights, Hi Beams, wiper controls and Cruise control. Most people will want to keep these things on the column were they are in reach at all times rather than
scrolling to a screen to find them. However, we can put them in MiMod. That is everything except Crusie control becasue of liability reasons.

I'm electrically savvy and mechanically inclined so this would be a snap but for those of us who are old and lazy or prefer to be hands off as Markingtime mentioned do you guys offer installation? So how does this work then, would someone bring their vehicle you you? Bring you the instrument cluster and you retrofit the thing, same with the main console area if you want a second screen? Are the apps included in the deal or are those all additional? NAV, Satellite radio, temp controls, etc?

I can try to get some more pics of the screens we have done and post them later. The only ones I have are the ones on the web page.
As for installing, no we dont offer that option at the present time. That would require a large dealer base (which we are working On), and installation centers etc..
But honestly, the directions you recive and the installation are designed to be user friendly. However, a typlical automotive stereo shop could handle the install easily if your not up to the task.
As for things like the cluster behind the wheel. I need to be clear, we do not offer snap in or drop in replacment items, nor do we currenlty plan to do so. Most people that are going to use MiMod Hp to it's full potenial (gauge cluster, muti screen etc..) will relise they will have to do some fab work on their dashes to install our product.
IF you just want the one 7" touch screen the MiMod HP comes standard with the installation becomes simple because the screen it is meant to fit a 2 din stereo space.

Lastly, things like NAv, Wifi, OBDII, OBD1, TPMS, Accelerometer, Satellite radio, HD radio,Entertainment pack, HD upgrade, Ram upgrades, extra sceens, or upgrading the 7" screen to a 8",10",12" etc.. are Options and have to be purchased seperately.
This allows the customer to outfit the unit the way they want and not pay for things they would never use.

The Standard MiMod HP comes with the ability to turn ON/OFF or put UP/DOWN anything you could want and also display gauge information via individual senders. It also comes with the ability to lay lable, add or remove switches and change color.
Laslty you will have the oppertunity (if desired) to work with customer support on custom layouts and graghics. You can even do things like have a shift light displayed on the screen that will light up when you hit the RPM you program. For rg, in my V10 Ghia, I will have it set so at 6000rpm the whole screen turns bright red until I shift, then returns to the display info.
The price on the Standard MiMod HP is $1870 +S/H.

1.The MiMod HP comes standard with 6 USB ports, a Serial Port, RCA, and I/O connections
2.Yes you can use it just as a MP3 player provided that it can be hooked into an external amp and you have the Entertainment Utility.
3.Options like NAV, Satellite radio, ODBII ect... are extra (see above post).
4. Things like climate control can be done without purchasing extra apps or options. As can anything you need turn ON/OFF or UP/Down etc...

Yes sir, the phone companies don't make money on the GPS app, they make money every month on your phone and data transfer services. Either way you look at it,
in the long run your paying for it.

Could I for instance run Centrafuse as the front end, and run your app in the background for logging, control and gauges on a 2nd and 3rd display?

Unfortunatley no. The MiMod is more than just a pc and software. The real magic happens in our fusion panel which we hold patents on. The software is desgined to work with the Fusion panel.

Yes Sir thats MiMod EV. We are working with some well known transportation companies on some new hybrid trucks that will be using our system.
One of the differances between the MiMod Ev and HP is that we have made the foot print of the components 35% in the HP. This was nessasary because in smaller cars like hot rod coupes and VW theres is limited space. This makes uinstalling and mounting the system much easier.
Thanks for posting those pics, I forgot we had them kicking around.

That said, if you want to install the full system with multi screensand have zero fabriaction skills, then yes you will have to pay someone to do it. I need to carify my first answer to this question to make sure everyone gets what they need.
If you are running anolog style gauges like (autometer, stewart warrner etc..) then yest just take those 5 volt feed wires off the back and
hook them to the fusion panel.
If you have OBD1 or II then the easiest way is to use our OBD monitoring app to pull the gauge info in.
If you dont want to run our ODB option. Then you can always tap into the wires running from each sender to the computer.
It's not rocket science, but every car and customer will have a different requirment. That said, all the infomation you need for YOUR
instal will be available to you. Our instructions are solid and our customer service it excellent.

What actuators and gauges can i wire into it?

You will ned to use the OEM relays on that are in place in your system. One of the easiest ways to do this is to go through your fuse panel.
Things like power convertible tops and hyrualic suspension can also be opperated from MiMod HP if you wish, pretty much anything you want.
As for gauges, you can run anything you want. Things like wide band 02 require software to display and read properly, but like I mentioned in an earlier post we are going to be offering a wide band 02 form innovate in the near furture.

The layout is basic and easy since that was what the company desired. However this should give you an idea of the system and you can see it working....and work it does!

Wow this is pretty cool.

When I get my VR4 I'll definitely look into this.

Uh . . . . 40mph? Looking out the window the vehicle never moved. Did you have the driver's off the ground or on a dyno?
