11.29@122 in the almost stock DR650 car

hey guys! last friday night i burned out the clutch and went 11.80. yesterday, with an RPS 6 puck i had better luck... ran low 11s all day.

the only mods are...
old style DR650s
550s
afc maftranslator
walbro pump
rps clutch
downpipe no cats

stock everything else including stock 18s on regular tires, stock exhaust, stock intercoolers, full weight with stereo, amp and sub box, stock interior etc etc.

we build cars like this all the time and i always try to stress the point that its not that hard! you dont need to overcomplicate things..
i get calls all the time with customers wanting to buy parts or have us build a fast street car for them. i tell them the things i use to do this then 50% of the time they tell me "yea im going e manage, 13TGHL-4E turbos and my friend is porting my heads and obd2 cars cant be tuned...im gonna cut my car up with a sawzall" blablabla..

its not that those parts are bad, its not that weight loss is bad..its that you can take a stock vr4 do the RIGHT things and run 11s! if i add a front mount ill go 10s! all in a stock car with OBD2 AND 165,000 on the clock.
it still looks, drives, sounds like a factory car but i go out at night slapping the shit out of people with it:D

i still love 3S cars! they mod oh so easy and go FAST:)

For sure, I ran 11's with my FWD with just

525cc injector
Safc2
Supra fuel pump
17g turbos (tdo4)
ebay fmic

Very basic mods are enough to run 11's. No need to complicate stuff.

edit: I did have a stage 4 clutch, 3 in exhaust and k&n intake, but still simple things.

And it was all on pure 93 pump. So no need for anything crazy just to run 11's.

Oh and I think having AWD makes up for much more than my weight reduction in my case.

But yea, for a healthy vr4/tt it doesnt take much, for 11's.
