I have been outta town for a few weeks and upon returning home I found Limewire has been shutdown .. So I ask .. What else is out there ???

As Limewire was a form of torrent sharing I'm going to stay on that track. There is other forms of sharing like sites that share via file sharing upload/download. E.G rapidshare/mediafire etc and then there is news groups like NZBs.

Just go get vuze and peerblock! Vuze is a torrent search engine and torrent downloader all in one, and peerblock keeps your isp out of your shit.

Peerblock does nothing really to help as it cannot keep up with who's checking what torrent when and where unless their ip address is in the list and that's impossible for you to know. And its impossible to stop your ISP from looking your shit (as all your traffic goes through them), all you can do is stop others seeing who you are. Which is what peerblock is trying to do. Buy a rapidshare account (I think it's like $7 or $8/month?) and use warez-bb.org to find stuff to download.

Also, if you guys torrent, make sure you're forcing encryption in your client. Or get in on some private trackers. Or both. Personally, I do both.

I've never had any problems with Frostwire, also you can stop sharing files which is why I used it over Limewire in the first place.

$36 annual for the premium service (w/o commercials, higher bitrate, no limit on how much you can listen to, and access to the mobile apps). You can run it free to see if you like it for 40 hours a month (I think they charge $1.00 if you want to go over) but you get the commercials.

It really is a great alternative to pirating. I've found a ton of bands I would have never known existed and always enjoy the music that is on. If ANYTHING is going to destroy the record industry, I believe Pandora and it's legal business model will long before pirating will.

I actually have rhapsody on the computer but its like .80 cents to burn a song and Im not paying that money for something I will only listen too for a week .. I honestly didnt wanna drop the stock radio in the GT but Im starting to see in the big picture Im just gonna have too if I wanna keep up with my music fetish ..

See 80 cents a song is just too much, especially if it's older stuff. If it's a new album from a big band I can sort of understand but if I'm wanting to download some old Urge or something I think 8 bucks for the album is over priced. It seems like last I checked it was a buck a song so hopefully it will come down in price more.

What does encryption Do?

The RC4 encryption obfuscates not only the header but the entire stream. This means that it’s very hard for your ISP to detect that the traffic you are generating comes from BitTorrent.

Note that RC4 uses more CPU time than the plain encryption or no encryption. It is however harder to identify for traffic shaping devices...

Theres only one true way you can hide and thats by using a HMA VPN service...


Every month hundreds of people are getting pre-lawsuit notices and some are sued. Everything you download can be seen by your ISP. It can throttle or even block all your traffic. In addition, a recent European law allows ISP to disconnect you from the Internet.
While you are downloading via bittorrent, your IP address is fixed by trackers and is visible to all peers. Any of those peers can function as an Internet investigator working for RIAA. The encryption some bittorrent clients have, can only be used to circumvent traffic throttling and not for purpose of security. When your bittorrent client connects via VPN, it is impossible to see your real IP address. All data coming from you peers is also encrypted, so nobody knows what you download. Our VPN allows you to use the same internet service provider (ISP) you currently have and at the same time you remain anonymous in all your internet activities by routing your traffic through our servers via secure encrypted tunnel making it impossible even for your ISP to "spy" on you. By using our services, whenever you visit a website, send email, chat, ICQ, AIM, IRC, FTP, make internet phone calls etc., your real IP address is not provided to the other people involved in the transaction. This is a tremendous preventive measure against hacking. Most hacking is based on using your real IP address, which the hacker will not be able to get, without it they have no idea where to hack into. As a result we are in fact acting as a firewall keeping you safe from any abuse. Your internet provider retains a log file that shows the times your IP address was used and where it was connected to. Some internet providers save these logs indefinitely and they may give these files to whoever asks with or without a court order. It means every website you visited and everything you did is no longer private. If you use our VPN all your ISP logs would show is nothing other than an encrypted connection to our server. All internet traffic leaves our servers with same external address. All traffic of many users becomes mingled together and inseparable should someone try to do it. This is the anonymity.

when I need a single song this is what I do

use google and type "index.of"song.title.mp3 If the song title is more then one word use a period as the space. You have to search around a bit until you actually find one that's free but mostly you'll get it in the first page.

Limewire is a good place to find a virus. I use a site called torrentz.com to find the stuff I want to listen to, then stick to the piratebay, or kickasstorrents. If that fails, I go to demonoid. If you just want to listen to music without burning it to a CD, check out grooveshark. ;)

I belong to a private music tracker called What.cd (that's the web address as well) and I've NEVER looked back. Best music track in the world if you ask me. I've only had a few things not show up when I searched, and pretty much everything has a FLAC rip so for those lossless fans it's the place to be!
