What spring should I order with my TIAL BOV? 7,9 or 11?

LOL, Do you have a boost guage to know what kind of vacuum you have.

I'm sorry....I can't remember what we went with it's been so long ago.

I do but the car isn't running at the moment. I’m getting ready to install 19t’s.

blow thru or speed density, get the lightest one to keep the BOV cracked open at idle and the fastest response (this is what the synapse bov is)

I'm was thinking we went with the lightest as well but because of how it responded with the ATX.

You getting recirculated?

Stock MAS for now, open atmosphere

AFAIK the "11" is a 10 on the Q tial valve.

Depending on your vacuum it may be a bit tight. I'm running a "9" right now and about 19-20 inches of mercury of vacuum. It doesn't seem to leak at idle, but I'm probably going to swap to the "10" to be sure it doesn't leak under heavy engine braking.

There is a seller on ebay that has the springs cheap if you end up needing a different one. I may also have a 9 for sale soon if you want to order a 10 and try the 9 later.

The 9psi was to loose for my setup at idle with TD05 16G's. Went with the 11psi spring, but still thinking its opening at engine decel/braking. Running it open atmosphere and draw through.

If you are on the stock MAF you wont like life it is opening at idle, it will stall all the time.

Can you here it leak? I don't think I have ever had one leak.

if you look at it it will be open at idle if the spring is wrong, with pressure they never leak, its just at idle that it overcomes the spring and holds the valve open until there is pressure.

9 was too loose for mine. I use the 11. Make sure before you drive it to pull the spring open with a vacuum pump. Mine was stuck shut fresh out of the box. 28"HG on the vacuum pump couldn't pull it open. I lubricated the seal with a little silicone compound and it hasn't stuck since.

The spring should be bought based on the amount of vacuum you pull at idle. Altitude can affect this.

It's crazy how different I had to set up my system.
It has to leak or it starts going off like a choo choo train.
We had to put this crazy thing on there that Hubby used on automatic doors to make it stop.
I have to give DJ credit. He has figured out shit that no one else has.

I use 11psi spring (paid $30 for it)

The 11 psi spring is designed for our engines factory vacuum pressure .. Curious though why everyone seems to have such different experiences with the Tial .. Could vacuum line deletion be playing a part here, or is that just silly thinking :clue:

Vacuum hose reduction shouldn't have anything to do with it unless there is a vacuum leak.

I have a hard time understanding why you would want the BOV open during vacuum situations. I understand the chu chu sound during low load scenarios but it is very tolerable vs sucking junk into the engine during vacuum. My $.02

I really like your driveway shot in your sig. I have to admit I'm a little jealous.

I have the turbos off at this time so I cant look at the vacuum at this moment. I kind of figured our cars were about the same (as far as vac @ idle). I'll get the 11

I noticed issues with mine on decel for some reason. Blitz DSBC reads about -57 kg/cm2 on decel. When that happens the AF's on the wide band actually go rich, when it should be lean on decel. 11 psi spring too.

Have you checked your idle position switch?

Idle position switch? Not sure if its the same as the TPS, but TPS reads 14.5 when closed or no foot on throttle.

Idle position switch? Not sure if its the same as the TPS, but TPS reads 14.5 when closed or no foot on throttle.

The TPS has a switch and a potentiometer built into it. The potentiometer gives the actual throttle position and the switch tells the ECU that the throttle is closed. Socket 1 should have 5VDC with the key on for the potentiometer. Socket 2 is the sensor wire giving feedback to the ECU. Socket 3 is the return for the switch to the ECU. Socket 4 is the ground feed for the switch and the potentiometer. With the throttle closed you should have a low ohm value between pin 3 and pin 4(I got 200-300 ohms on mine). I tested mine with the connector off. With the throttle open it should open the circuit.

Yes, stock MAF in my case, though the HKS does not do this and it vents to the atmosphere as well. I'm assuming the tial just does its job too good. In hindsight I should have bought the Tial BOV version that plumbs back in since I don't really ever plan to go blow through or speed density.
