View Full Version : Forum Bugs

I know everything is less than a day old but I figured if we could post up any bugs that it will help Alan fix them when he can.

The only bugs I have noticed so far is half a page of empty space at the bottom of threads, and the other is in the avatar area for join date the year is dropping to the next line.

If I see any more I will report them. If you guys see any report them here to keep Alan from getting bombed with PM's about them.

Brian

Wrong sub-forum :p

stealthee
09-11-2010, 08:57 PM
WTF? I couldn't find a proper sub forum to put it in unless I am blind.

DocWalt

We've been using the suggestions on, or in chatter. this is the car related section ;)

I'm going to be a pain until there's someone that can just move misplaced threads, lol

stealthee
09-11-2010, 09:01 PM
Well suggestions just didn't seem like the right place, nor did the chatter section. I guess if Alan wants it moved he can do that. Its of no issue to me where its located, just so people find it and keep everything in one spot.

I don't know since I am paid already. :p

I didnt notice any blank space below threads, but I know I got a ton of emails saying I am subscribed to every thread I post in, which shows every post made. Is it on auto subscription or something? Is there a way to turn it off?

There's a weird colon in our user info on the left. Plus, there's tons of dead space after our posts and before our sigs.

stealthee
09-11-2010, 09:40 PM
Whats weird is the join date is right on your avatar area, but not on mine. I'm not noticing a colon in the user area, unless I am blind. :p

DocWalt
09-11-2010, 09:42 PM
Yeah, my whole user area is skewed because of the arcade stuff. There's definitely a colon chilling under your avatar, lol

vr3.9
09-11-2010, 09:43 PM
Not really a bug, but it bugs me. Maybe it's because I spent all day with my eyes full of sweat, or maybe it's because I'm old and blind. But white background/black text is just so much easier than the reverse. Just my opinion. All though now I feel bad. My first post on the new forum and I'm gripping.

DocWalt
09-11-2010, 09:45 PM
Change your forum style, vr3.9. All the way in the lower left, you can change it to the "light" style.

stealthee
09-11-2010, 09:48 PM
Yeah its easy to change, though in my opinion, I love the dark back ground. So much easier to use.

And Kenny I think you're nuts. I see no colon under my avatar. :p

Fletch
09-11-2010, 09:52 PM
WooHoo, Stealthee is here. Now I can relax even more.

Are we going to start getting our posts migrated over to a sub forum here? I am getting my very few helpful posts and post them here, but where would be the best?

The colon is on the arcade scroller line
That line is messing up the join date row.

if you delete the 1st post that will remove the thread.

DocWalt

It won't let me delete it, maybe because I was thanked for it.

edit: I can delete this post. The other one just didn't have the button. meh.

I noticed when I tried to refresh the verification image when I was signing up, it wouldn't reload. But then when I was able to decipher the original, it kicked it back as invalid, and I had to start over.

+1 to being a ton of dead space in the column below the post content or below the member stats on the left, depending on your point of view. i'm using firefox 3.5.11.

DocWalt
09-12-2010, 01:09 PM
You can't delete threads once somebody replies to them. I'm not sure if that's intentional.

stealthee
09-12-2010, 03:31 PM
OK, I think I figured out the dead space issue after a post. It appears that we have a "text field" the height of the avatar area. No matter now little text you type the field is that height. Because of thise there is a large gap after a post and before a sig.

DocWalt
09-12-2010, 08:54 PM
Weird. It only does it when the sig is there. No big gap on a sig-less post.

stealthee
09-12-2010, 08:59 PM
Exactly why I said its a text field. If you have the dark background you can actually see the field.

I think I traced what caused my browser freak out making me think it was forum bugs.

Apparently I had gotten lazy and hadn't downloaded any Windows updates in about a year. I had to dl 48 updates last night. Since then Explorer has been blazing, even faster than it normally works.

I had a similar issue... I was locked out of both this site and 3Si, but I could get on in Firefox... No problem with several other VB sites I'm on. Thought I had a malware issue, but it came up clean. 46 updates later it's happy again.

Also, there have been several times during the last couple of days when I receive the message "Unable to open the site www.3sgto.org/forum.php Operation aborted" and it boots me...

This also happened with other sections of the board...
