Hey Guys,

So yesterday I was driving my stealth TT and while heading home I heard a whooshing sound followed by a bang, and then the headlights weren't working and the 4wd oil light very briefly came on. It sounded like perhaps an intercooler pipe came off, but I wasn't in boost really so it didn't make sense. The bang sound was kind of a pop followed by a bang. I've removed the clutch booster and have the manifold vacuum line capped off. A while back I had that cap pop off and this sounded like that, however the cap is still there now so clearly it wasn't. But the pop sounded similar and the bang sounded like when that cap hit the underside of the hood. I continued driving home and immediately noticed that the headlights were no longer working. Neither the low beams or high beams would turn on, but the fog lights did and the pop ups would actuate. I continued driving home and a few blocks later I heard the whoosh sound again but this time there was no bang. The 4wd oil light again came on very briefly. I continued driving as I wasn't that far from home and the car didn't really seem to want to go into boost. I basically kept it to 40 mph and under 3000 rpm because it didn't seem to really make power when I tried to go faster although I didn't push it hard at all. Finally, two blocks from my house I was stopped at a stop light and when the light turned green and I pushed the clutch in the car made a horrible grinding sound and the 4wd oil light came on and stayed on. Every time I pushed the clutch in it made this sound and every time I let up it stopped. I decided to just push it and gave it some gas, put it in gear, and then coasted home in 2nd without shifting or stopping.

I looked under the car today and there are no leaks, no drips, not a single thing. I checked the power steering reservoir and it is full. I inspected all the 4wd lines from the engine bay and they all seem intact. I started the car and it seems fine and the headlights work and the 4wd oil light is off.

There is a chance the grinding sound was a coincidence as the car has always made noise at first start up from the throw out bearing. I have a new throw out bearing, clutch fork, pivot, etc ready to go in and have since I bought the car, but haven't actually swapped it out because I haven't decided what clutch and flywheel to put in while I'm in there. I'm now planning on pulling the transmission and putting a new clutch in there before I drive it again, but hoping to find out what the whoosh and bang sound is before really driving it anywhere. It seems perhaps the issue was something electrical, but obviously something very physical caused the whoosh and bang noise observed.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
