Picked up an XForce 2.5" resonated exhaust on Black Friday sale. Super happy with their exhaust on my RX-8, figured I'd try their 86 offering. Still waiting for my car to get here but whatever.
Came with two sets of tips, which is cool.

https://i.postimg.cc/ydW4R7mj/image.png
Packaging is, uh, "fine" at best. Half the cost of most 86 exhausts though...
https://i.postimg.cc/3wxJL5j4/image.png
Quality looks pretty good though! My RX-8 exhaust has held up well on track and daily driving so I suspect this will be good too. The RX-8 has a LOT higher exhaust temps than most cars and puts a beating on cheap crap.
https://i.postimg.cc/JhFmPy4v/image.png
2017 build date, guessing these don't sell quickly.
https://i.postimg.cc/xCVpfYsq/image.png
They mill the flanges flat after welding, a nice touch.
https://i.postimg.cc/5yRwtSxp/image.png
I just hope it fits as well as the RX-8 exhaust did! I did order some 1/2" split shaft collars like what Perrin uses so I can center the exhaust nicely in the openings. Otherwise, should be good to go whenever I get my car. I'll post videos and such.

I've got a few hundred miles so far and a lot of seat time. I had a BRZ before and a few other comparable cars and some less than comparable, haha.
My initial thoughts on things so far! Really enjoying the car, glad Subaru/Toyota refreshed it.
The whole car just feels premium vs the first gen, in pretty much every way. The top of the dash is hard plastic now I think, which is kinda lame. Some of the ergo choices are a bit odd (thinking of the door handles in particular), but generally all really good. Materials are still "cheap car" but used well so it doesn't feel cheap. The center console/armrest seems totally fine to me. I do wish it had a power port there, but whatever. I love that it can close on my phone cable totally fine so I can still have my phone out and connected to Android Auto. Cupholders themselves seem... fine? I wish there was a nicer place to put my phone, there really should be a pocket under the HVAC controls.
Audio quality seems "fine" at best which is totally fine for me. I haven't felt a need to play with the EQ yet, but it could definitely use a bit more bass. Actual speaker quality seems good for a stock system, sounds pretty clear. The radio interface is very busy looking but works well. Android Auto integration is great. Super smooth and responsive which is the most important thing to me with a radio interface. The backup camera is great during the day, but pretty trash at night as the backup lights wash out everything in view.
The turn signals are fine. Totally fine. I wish there was a bit more of a detent to bump against when doing a tap-turn lane change but it's fine. Going back to a normal car now feels weird, haha.
The high beam stalk operation is really annoying to me. Every other car I've ever driven was push to turn the high beams on, then push again to turn them off (or pull the stalk back to center on older cars) but the BRZ returns to center then you need to pull towards you to turn them off. It feels super weird pulling from the center position to turn them off. Not sure why this is so annoying, but it is.
The actual headlights are "fine" with a decent spread of light. The dead spot from the anode is not ideal but whatever. High beams are also "fine" with a better spread than the first gen HIDs but not really that great.
The active sound thingy is a bit too loud IMO. I don't mind it in normal driving but rev it out or even higher speed highway driving and it's just making noise for no good reason. I can't wait to get an exhaust on the car and turn it off, tbh. If you're leaving the car stock it would be amazing to have an option to cut the volume down a lot but leave it on. I'd imagine with the active sound turned off the car would be way too quiet.
The trunk opening is a bit narrower, I think. Seems to have the same interior space though, and no spare tire so there's some storage under the trunk floor now too.
Seats are still great. There's definitely more bolster along your thigh and the upper back area feels like it's a bit stiffer/more supportive. Headrests seem to be a bit further away which is nice for those of us that autocross/track our cars. They're still really supportive and comfortable though the materials on the base seats are pretty "meh" feeling vs the first gen BRZ seats (they do feel nicer than the materials of the first gen FR-S seats)
The steering feels heavier than a first gen at all times, but loads up a bit less mid corner so there's a bit less "feel" but more weight. It's fine, but doesn't feel quite as light on its feet and communicative. Still super responsive and easy to place the car.
The new suspension tuning feels really nice. Shocks have been dyno'd by RCE and they have similar compression to my RX-8's coilovers, so they're surprisingly stiff and responsive. Balance feels pretty good on the off ramps I've taken so far. Primacies still kinda suck, but duh?
Brakes feel good, though I find them mildly difficult to get used to vs my RX-8 or ND Miata. The brake pedal seems more responsive when you get on it quickly vs just a smooth roll on to the brakes, slightly odd. I haven't accidentally hit the stupid "panic assist" nonsense yet, nor ice mode. We'll see what happens when I autocross/track though.
Throttle response is great, sometimes it seems really numb to heel-toe blips though. When you lift off the throttle the ECU really smooths out the sudden drop in throttle which makes it smooth and easy to drive around but also kind of annoying. Driving the car harder this seems to be less of an issue.
Power & power delivery is fantastic. Just what the car needed IMO. There's still a mild torque dip but *nowhere* near as bad as the first gen. Sorta feels like a heavily tuned stock first gen, dip wise. Header & tune will fix that right up and surely make power
Shift feel is very "strong" feeling. The detent springs feel like what a first gen felt like with the MTEC springs, I guess. Still engages nicely and smoothly. A bit stiff when it's cold, but better than the first gen.
Fuel economy seems solid so far. I'm averaging about 23 mpg, I suspect I'll stay around that figure. About what I got on the first gen, I think I got around 24 mpg. Highway fuel economy still seems to be a bit over 30 mpg, so not much change there. There are a lot more underbody aero pieces now so surely that helps. Maybe marginally worse fuel economy overall than the first gen? Worthwhile trade off for the power gains! As a comparison my RX-8 gets ~15 mpg on my commute and ~20 mpg on the highway (in STX autocross trim) while my ND got ~26 mpg on my commute and ~35 mpg on the highway (in STR autocross trim)
I already want motor/diff mount upgrades. The stock motor mounts & diff mounts are hilariously soft. Makes it fairly annoying pulling away from a stop because you don't feel the drivetrain load up as you release the clutch.
Speaking of the clutch, clutch feel is similar to the first gen. I suspect it will benefit a lot from the slave cylinder mod as the first gen car, my buddy's FR-S has that and it's well worth it.
Looks are subjective, but I really really like the looks of the new gen. I do prefer the GR86 front bumper, but Subaru is awesome to work with and I love WRB, haha. The front fender bulges are still great, it makes it easy to place the car with them in your peripheral vision, that was the first thing my fiancee commented on when she drove it around!
Compared to my RX-8 the new BRZ is night and day. The RX-8 is super fun, but definitely a much older car. It feels like a different decade even vs the first gen twin, which makes sense for when they were developed. The RX-8 is faster than my buddy's first gen twin, but slower than the new twin by a lot. RX-8 just feels a lot more aggressive, but in good ways. My RX-8 is fairly modded, but not at the same time. Poly motor mounts and diff mounts, catback, coilovers, camber bushings, front swaybar, intake, tune and that's it. The RX-8 transmission feels like complete crap, super notchy and sorta crunchy into gears when it's cold (brand new trans and clutch too!). RX-8 has a very fun powerband and super addictive noise, so I always want to rev it out and my fuel economy is trash haha. It's definitely slower than the new twin, but the power delivery is *sooo* fun. The RX-8 brakes are a bit touchy vs the BRZ, even with stock pads, but the stock pads are also totally fine on track even on hot days in back to back sessions so I can't complain! RX-8 rides very well considering the spring rates in use (thanks Shaftworks USA!) and no doubt has fantastic suspension, but the twin is shockingly close to the same feel when driving the car hard, assuming you ignore the extra body roll and such. Driver inputs feel the same, which is awesome.
Compared to my prior ND2 Miata, the new twin feels both more expensive and less expensive in a lot of different ways. The ND interior styling is on point and everything feels really nice... Except for where it's clearly *really* cheap. It's hard to compare totally stock versus totally stock as I had MCS shocks on the ND within a month or two, but the ND seemed to absorb large bumps better but it was super floaty and *very* soft so no surprise there. The ND powerband was smoother but felt slower because of it. Straight line acceleration is about identical, but the BRZ feels more dramatic because of the slight torque dip I guess. ND steering feel was nearly non-existent and the twins is miles better. ND was easier to hustle along a back road, the pedal placement and ease of use was *perfect* for heel-toe and such. BRZ is still really really good, but I think it needs a tune to turn off some of the emissions BS that dulls the throttle response in certain situations. ND shifter was definitely not as notchy/less stiff detents but it was also always sorta mechanical feeling and you felt things working to get into gear. The BRZ is more notchy but filters out all of that mechanical feel as it slots into gear. Both cars were different but still great. The BRZ is definitely a more practical car, even with the fairly useless rear seats. The ND wasn't supposed to be a practical car and it always carried everything I ever wanted until I was moving, so I can't complain at all!

I installed the OEM crash bolts. I got around -1.3 degrees of camber on both sides with my camber gauge. Toe was nearly unchanged, as it was on the first gen.

I also installed Eibach's 10mm extended stud/spacer kit using the balljoint spreader tool method. Pretty simple as it is on the first gen or most other cars. Warning though, the 2022+ BRZ with aluminum knuckles uses different torque specs than first gens but more annoyingly, the knuckle is in the way and there's no way to install extended studs without pulling the hub. Not a huge deal and overall pretty simple!

Whiteline diff bushing inserts, I skipped the diff outrigger bushing inserts as they made horrible diff whine on my first gen. Easy install, though if you're lazy like my you need to yank on the swaybar to make enough room for the lower bolt on the one side of the diff. Easy enough!
Wheelhop is minimized now, I'll test the subframe bushing inserts at some point in the next few months to see if it's eliminated.

Installed Whiteline's subframe bushing insert kit. Seems to fit fine even with the new swaybar mounting on the BRZ. It will definitely fit fine on the GR86.
There's definitely a bit of NVH, but the rear end of the car feels more connected. Trade offs!

Got some PPF done and a quick clean/seal by Performance Detailz near Lancaster, PA. Rockers all the way into the car, fender vent piece, mirrors, and trunk strip. Really needed the side skirts done as they're so wide they're going to take cone blasts at autocross and they're also a little difficult to step over.
Unfortunately the front bumper was already a bit chipped up so no point in doing that. :(

I've been working on mapping CAN data and finding a nice access point since CAN isn't readily accessible on the OBD2 port anymore. There's an active sound (ASC) computer easily accessible in the passenger side of the dash, so that was a perfect spot to "hack into" and get CAN access.
Parts list for the ASC connector/patch harness:
Male connector (plugs into factory harness):
- AMP/TE Connectivity Connector Housing P/N: 1376106-1 (Quantity 1)
- AMP/TE Connectivity Pins P/N: 1376109-1 (Quantity 8) - I'd suggest ordering a couple of spares though in case you mess up crimping
Female connector (same as factory harness if you're making a patch)
- AMP/TE Connectivity Connector Housing P/N: 1318386-1 (Quantity 1)
- AMP/TE Connectivity Pins P/N: 1123343-1 (Quantity 8) - I'd suggest ordering a couple of spares though in case you mess up crimping
I used this wire: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07T4SYVYG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
I used this RJ45 breakout (for RaceCapture Track Mk2, you'll use something else for other devices): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WKKVZRF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Use something like this to crimp the connectors. It's fiddly and annoying but way cheaper than the "right" tool: https://www.amazon.com/Qibaok-Terminal-Crimper-Crimping-Terminals/dp/B089LW7MWT
If you're wiring to a breakout like I was, this will work to make the ferrules on the wires. Way nicer to insert than stranded wire twisted together or whatever: https://www.amazon.com/TICONN-Insulated-Self-adjustable-Electrical-Connectors/dp/B09F94TPRV/
My patch harness (made a second for a friend that I owe a favor to):

My RaceCapture "install" after I routed the RJ45 cable along the passenger side rocker under the carpet, down in front of the seat, and out the flap that exposes the chassis VIN.

Karcepts makes badass parts for a limited selection of cars, but when their swaybars or other parts are available for your car you have to buy them. Over-engineered in the best ways possible! The swaybars have a nice arc built in for the adjustment holes so you can quickly and easily adjust the swaybar stiffness between runs at autocross or you could even do it in a pitstop during an enduro race or something. Easy install for a motorsports product with a great installation manual and they even included some specialty tools that are required.

First autocross weekend in the history books! The car is phenomenal! I tested back to back with an ND2 Miata in STR and I don't think we can hang in STR yet (but it will be close with tunes to fix the low rev limiter) but the car is so dang fun I don't even really care. Love the easy adjust Karcepts swaybar and the Shaftworks USA shocks. I made one swaybar change early Saturday at the Test and Tune (math said I should have been where I ended up, but I was lazy and set the swaybar softer) and I didn't do anything for shocks, adjustment wise. I'm really really happy with the car.

Sunday's event was defined by crummy off and on rain. I made no changes for the wet and I was clearly the fastest in the wet, but it dried out and I coned away my fast run, then it rained again for Amy and she was faster in the rain than in the dry but coned it away too. Ignore the squeaking in the video, we left our trunk junk in because of the rain and the mic was picking up the squeaky styrofoam. I'll share our faster runs first.

NNJR autocross #1 in the books! I finished up 2nd in PAX, 1st in STR. Amy was 4th in STR, a very solid result. We struggled badly with understeer, made one car change and then just sort of didn't make another change with runs happening so quickly. We should have kept making changes, but that's on me for not accepting that the car wasn't performing at its best, whoops!

Needed more rear camber! Rear lower control arms from the first gen aren't legal on the new car due to a change in motion ratio, makes this mildly annoying but oh well. The only other options are a $650 set of upper control arms or a $130 set of offset upper arm bushings that are a huge PITA to install and adjust as well as being easy to have them slip...
I'm giving a $25 option a try :) I got ~0.3 degrees more rear camber (one side gained like 0.5 degrees, so I just evened it out) using two MOOG K90473 camber bolts. They torque to about the same torque spec as the OEM bolts so I'm hoping they don't slip. I'll find out soon!

I swapped from the Perrin 2.5" catback to the CSG Touring 86 catback... It's effectively OEM+ inside the car and not very loud outside the car either.
I have a JDL UEL and ISR Overpipe, stock frontpipe. The drone with the Perrin catback between 2-3k RPM was getting old quickly, not sure why it's so bad on a 2nd gen with UEL. Local friend has it with an EL header and it's drone free, so YMMV.
The CSG Touring 86 is damn near silent inside the car, may as well be OEM+ with zero drone and not much noise. It's getting a little louder after ~100 miles but I doubt it will ever get loud. Outside the car, on video anyway, it's not as deep of a sound as the Perrin but it's also less raspy and more "wooshy"
The CSG installs a little easier than the Perrin because you can set the tip depth easily, but the exhaust clamps were installed "backwards" meaning the bolt was on the wrong side of the exhaust for maximum clearance on installation. Kinda dumb but whatever, easy to fix. I also wish the CSG was 304 stainless, big bummer that it's not.

Philly SCCA had another event this weekend, it was ridiculously hot and humid and we probably used four gallons of water spraying our tires to keep them cool! Really fun course and it was a lot of fun to work with Amy and see her improving as a driver! I pulled off first in PAX with a really close battle with an STR class ND Miata. 15 thousandths! Amy ended up finishing a really close 5th in STR, she's clearly getting comfortable with the added pace this year and she's crushing it.

Toledo ProSolo! Super fun, even with the wrong car for STR. 500 pounds more weight than the ND Miata on the same tire is going to be hard to make up for. We whiffed on setup big time on day one, big thanks to Jon Lugod at Shaftworks USA for an all new setup to try on Sunday. The car was magical.
Weather all weekend was whacky. The entire morning session on Saturday was thrown out with thunderstorms, so we ran 6 runs in the afternoon instead of four. That meant no time to test anything really and Amy got stuck in drying conditions both days since of course it rained again overnight into Sunday.
Amy drove extremely well, just had bad luck getting away from the tree because of the changing conditions of the start line.
Here's Amy's fastest left, unfortunately the line dried up and she red lit :( :

Installed a JDL Ultra Quiet frontpipe today, I found a gasket that works to adapt from 2.5" frontpipes to stock midpipe, which is nice
Walker 31398 fits perfectly with no hassle, but does have a smaller ID (which is about the same as the stock midpipe anyway)
If you want to dork around cutting some of the gasket's built in metal flange that fits into the frontpipe, a Walker 31554 "fits" as well if you cut away most of the metal ring so it only has a few tabs left to center it/support it in the front pipe. It seals fine and all, just know it's a bit of a hassle up front for essentially no benefit. The other gasket wasn't available locally to me so I did this

Had a fun day with Philly & WDCR at Ripken stadium, pulled off another 2nd place in PAX and a win in STR. My car is working really really well, I ordered an OS Giken diff tuned by Shaftworks USA and I'm not even sure I need it, haha. I'll be installing that soon, but for now, a video of my fastest run. Amusingly, like every other Ripken event, I don't seem to find any time after my first run... Annoying, but glad I'm on pace right away at least haha.

I installed my Shaftworks USA tuned OS Giken Super Lock LSD this past weekend! Install went smoothly and no leaks. Here are some install pics, my feedback so far (very very limited feedback) is below.

Ring gear all torqued on with orange threadlocker in lieu of the stock locking tabs. Marked for future inspection.

Diff backlash checked out perfectly in spec, at the tighter end but NBD. The diff has less whine on decel now, haha.

Installed a polyurethane shifter bushing, mostly because it was cheap. I've noticed no meaningful difference.

So for some initial feedback... With the caveat that I now have ~15 miles on the diff (of the 1500 street miles for full break in) and I'm using Motorcraft fluid, not the fancy OS Giken fluid.
The diff chatters bad on power in tight corners in my neighborhood but does not when coasting. I assume this is mostly just the oil, my ND Miata was silent and smooth as silk.
Feels awesome when attacking, drifts are super progressive and less snappy. When it's not drifting it just carves the line you picked, like it did on my ND. So you're on a line and you get on the gas and the nose almost wants to tuck itself in to counteract the natural push.
Seems to put power down better too, duh?

I was a bit tired of the chattery/binding from the cheap break in fluid... So I swapped to the OSG fluid, haha.
With the Motorcraft fluid, the diff felt like it was sort of sticking. Driving around casually I'd go to turn in and the car sort of fought me until I took my foot off the gas and went to neutral throttle and the diff opened up.
The diff took a bit to work the other fluid out but now it's essentially silent and smooth. Feels really good. Just yeet it around corners and floor it and you get a super smooth progressive slide, like the diff is actively working to push you forward and arrest the slide. I can't wait to see how it does at autocross now!

Did my first autocross yesterday on the new diff. Simmons codrove as well, so lots of runs and good competition! The diff definitely needs more break in usage and some dry runs, but so far the car seems more stable on entry and puts power down better on exit. Less snappy and you can be way more aggressive on power. I'm really curious how it behaves in the dry!
Here's my fastest run, good for 2nd in PAX. I was slower than Simmons in the slalom and a good bit slower into the far turnaround as well, I just braked too early.

Your 'new diff' experience made me think of my '71 Mustang with the locker - noisy as hell cornering, in town - the clutching was always sticky, and the only relief was using Ford's own product for that specific diff, though it wasn't entirely effective.
I remember being supremely irritated that a certain girl who liked my car decided to tell all her friends she thought there was something wrong with my rear-end.

This weekend was Philadelphia SCCA region's Al Holbert Memorial autocross weekend. I've been the winner of the two day event the last two years, but this year with my class having a harder PAX handicap and having the "wrong car" for my class I knew it would be tough. I was able to just pull off the win last year even with the "wrong car" but competition has been really stiff this year! Lots of really fast drivers in the Philly region and we had drivers visiting from all around!
Day one was great, Amy and I were getting used to the new OS Giken diff, more on that later. Amy was super happy with the car and I felt like it was easier too. We did pretty darn well, I won STR and was sitting fourth for the Holbert trophy. Amy was really competitive in STR as well!
Amy's fastest run:

I went a little faster on my 5th run when I really learned the diff, but I tagged a stupid cone in the process.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A27i3EJjW4
Amy was very happy on day 1!
https://i.postimg.cc/GmzfqSx0/image.png
Day two was even more fun, but other folks got faster! I ended up finishing fourth for the Holbert, less than a half second back over two days. Not at all unhappy considering the limitations of my car in STR. Amy had a weird issue on one run, the car popped out of first gear for no apparent reason about 25 feet off the line.

For feedback on the differential, Jon at Shaftworks USA *killed it* on the diff! It's a pretty decent difference in driving style, but it's really rewarding and fun to get it right... and more importantly I think it's made the car faster. The car is more stable on entry and really really forgiving of chucking the car around. When you're mid corner in a sweeper and you feel like the front end isn't going to hold on anymore, you can start to roll on the gas and it just tucks the nose wherever you have the steering wheel pointed. SOOOO nice to be able to get on the gas earlier and power out of the corner sooner. On top of the behavior change, the new differential puts down power over bumps so much better than the stock Torsen limited slip, it just accelerates forwards all the time instead of chattering and hopping.

Installed the STI wing this evening and I love it! Subaru's execution of aftermarket parts is exceptional, I wish every aftermarket parts manufacturer was nearly as good. Subaru provided vacuum molded drilling templates for the inside of the trunk, a huge paper template for the top of the trunk, then all of the reinforcement brackets to stiffen the trunk lid so it can handle the downforce safely, I'm really impressed!

Over the winter I had designed a replica of the GR Cup hood vent and slowly worked on making it a reality (mostly sitting around not doing anything about it after moving, if I'm honest)
https://i.postimg.cc/dtnvCfRK/image.png
I finally got around to setting up my oldest 3D printer, an Ender 3 Pro, to handle Nylon 12 CF and printed the hood vent. I wasted a bunch of material testing various setups, so that was neat... Sadly you need to test with the material you're printing!
I glued the parts of the hood vent together on Friday and set up a template to mark up the hood for cutting.
https://i.postimg.cc/MT4scQd0/PXL-20231006-233048336.jpg
https://i.postimg.cc/g0gtW5hT/PXL-20231006-233236666.jpg

https://i.postimg.cc/Gt5q0CnL/PXL-20231007-004454821.jpg
Saturday started off with transferring the template location to the hood, carefully centering it and positioning it in the right spot to hit the support structure where Toyota has theirs.

Masking off and protecting the car for the cutting process. Tedious but much easier clean up. The car is still filthy, but no aluminum shavings everywhere.
https://i.postimg.cc/SNYGXHp9/PXL-20231007-164559194.jpg
Nothing to it but to do it, right? Took some guts to start the cutting, haha

https://i.postimg.cc/vTJfLHdV/PXL-20231007-172924230.jpg
Cutting the support structure chewed up the cutting disks quickly, the skin was easy though!
https://i.postimg.cc/FKpb540M/PXL-20231007-174606047.jpg
After many hours of messing around test fitting and cutting more material, the hood vent fits nearly perfectly! The rear corners are about a millimeter too proud of the surface so I'll tweak the design, but for now the hood vent fits well enough and with a bit of care nobody will ever know the difference.
https://i.postimg.cc/1tTqs5Xj/PXL-20231007-193113734.jpg
Test fitted on Sunday after some clean up and painting the edges of the bare metal. This is before gluing the vent down, you can't even tell that it's not millimeter perfect.

and done! Drove to work today. No more hood flutter on the highway at 80 mph and when I stop in traffic there's a pretty massive amount of heat pouring out of the hood vent. I still want to block the vent and test some before/after temps, plus I need to trim and reinstall the hood insulation.

Next up I need to design a rain tray/debris guard that clips onto the bottom of the vent so I can daily drive this in all weather and not be concerned since it's just a gaping hole now.

My first event in "XA" prep, against at least one real XA car too! The car feels great still, literally only softened the front bar for the less grippy site. I think the wing starts to help a little at high speeds, the car seemed a bit more stable at the ends of slaloms which were the only higher speed sections on yesterday's course. I'm going to struggle against the top XA cars without power, my plans for next year should get corner speeds up more and hopefully make up some of the difference there.

Some data on temps so far:
Before I cut the hood, I saw coolant temps regularly in the mid 190s (Farenheit) and oil temps would heat quickly to 120+ by the first on ramp on my morning commute, plateauing at 210 on the street. Coolant temps peaked at ~201F at autocross but mostly in the upper 190s. Oil temps would peak in the mid 230s in a single autocross run, dropping back down again to low 200s by the next run.
With the hood vent, coolant temps were solidly in the low 190s on the street and they'd be in the mid 190s at autocross. Oil temps seemed to behave identically.
With the rain tray installed on the hood vent, the coolant temps would be in the low-mid 190s, like 192-194 F. Oil temps still identical.
Today, coolant temps were definitely a little slower to warm up and plateaued solidly in the 187-192F range even with the rain tray on the hood vent. Oil temps were lagging ~10 degrees F behind "normal" initially (it *just* hit 120F entering my morning commute on ramp) but then took AGES to get to 185 F and then it was stable there excepting when I peaked it at 194 F after ripping my favorite 270 degree off ramp at 60-80 mph in 3rd gear. It quickly dropped back down into the mid 180s. The oil temps are definitely slower to warm up than the OEM heat exchanger, but way quicker than an air/oil cooler even thermostatically controlled like I had on my first gen.

Installed the GP Sports "rear traction member collar" aka the "traction mod" that reduces the rear anti-squat for a more compliant suspension and better ability to put power down. Initial testing on the street says it does all of that very well! The car rides better and seems to settle into the road better on corner exit. There's a particularly bumpy intersection I drive every day that I couldn't accelerate out of hard on stock tires even in 2nd gear and now it just squats and goes. I can actually use first gear now without totally roasting the stock rear tires too on regular roads, so that's a marked improvement. Definitely curious how it does in performance driving!

I also installed the Perrin 16mm rear swaybar and made some DIY end links that I offset using some round tube and washers to fine tune the alignment to not bind the joint nor have the end link hit the control arm. Nothing too exciting to report here, but definitely excited to test these changes. I actually installed the end links last week and drove to work with the OEM rear bar all week, the non-OEM rear end links also seemed to make the car ride better, go figure not being all bound up helps a lot with ride quality.

How much weight have you added/subtracted from the car, Doc?
Really good question. It's probably kind of a wash. Header is significantly lighter, wheels and tires are as well. Shocks are lighter. The pimpy front swaybar is heavier, the rear swaybar is heavier. The catback is slightly heavier than stock but the front pipe is lighter than stock. Rear wing added <5 lbs and the hood vent likely lost a few ounces? Aluminum hood so not much loss there really. The intake is likely heavier than stock.

I did an autocross yesterday with Motorsports NE at MetLife stadium. The recent car changes have been... simply put, incredible. I took top PAX (non-SCCA event using their own PAX) and fastest raw time over a well driven GT4 RS, I took second using SCCA PAX, so that's a pretty darn solid result.
The anti-squat changes are a HUGE improvement, it's frankly kind of mind blowing. I would definitely recommend the traction mod for anyone that can do it within their rule set. The improvement in power down is really hard to describe, but it's really sort of mind blowing how early I can roll on the power now and not worry about the car getting unsettled over bumps or slightly imperfect inputs. I was so late to power on my early runs because it was just so settled and forgiving versus how it was before.
That said, the traction mod brings with it some setup issues. I went ~30% stiffer on the rear swaybar versus stock, but in practice it's likely more with the stiffer bar bushings and better end links, and that nearly perfectly compensated for the geometry changes creating a balance change. So you definitely need to plan ahead and plan on stiffer rear springs or swaybar to get the same steady state balance back now that the rear end is so much more stable and planted.
We made zero setup changes all day (not that we had time anyway since it was 3-4 minutes between runs which is pretty tight) and it was SUPER dialed right from the get-go.
Related, but not? I measured the wing angle change between the two settings, ~1.5 degrees between the two settings. I left it in the lower AoA position for now until I do some front aero.

Off to NNJR at Metlife Stadium for my final event of the year, it was warm enough and we got 6 runs (or in my case 8 after some re-runs) and the car was a blast. Just some small setup tweaks since last event and the car is awesome. Sadly, I coned away my PAX winning run on my last run. Annoyingly, where I hit cones, I did those sector times clean earlier so the pace was definitely there. I have some more development work to do before next year, but hoping to at least be in the hunt for PAX wins even with the much harder XA PAX (even if XA PAX is too soft for what it is...) Considering lots of other competitors weren't nailing one sector that I was and therefore giving up nearly half a second to me, I need to find pace in the car for next year!
Had a friend help warm tires and give setup feedback, it's been half a year since he drove an autocross so he made some mistakes and under drove a bit, but had a blast and it's always a great time to codrive with friends.
Here's my fastest run, but dirty:

I got my splitter blade for next year, just waiting on the brackets. Seems like a pretty nice product so far! Not too heavy, which is good.

Designed an intake snorkel like the GR Cup cars. No clue if it fits first gens, *should* fit second gens but haven't had a chance to pull my bumper and triple check my work. It fits the airbox fine anyway, with a bit of weather seal tape.
I designed it to maximize the air intake area into the box while still using thin foam weatherstripping (1/16" thick) and mounting using the OEM grommet.

Installed the Racebred splitter last night/today. I made it really hard on myself by wanting to keep the stock undertrays so I could drive the car without the splitter installed, I succeeded though it's a lot harder to install/remove the splitter now (still pretty quick). The silliest part is that I'll probably still mostly drive the car with the splitter on anyway, it doesn't really scrape on any of my normal roads.

First gen front hubs bolt right into a second gen and work perfectly fine. I replaced mine with a Timken which is *much* chunkier. Time will tell if it holds up better.

Got my 17x10 ET48 Konig Ultragrams from Vision Speedworks a while back, finally got tires on (245/40R17 Yokohama A052) and test fit yesterday with my normal 13mm front spacers and no rear spacers. They look great and the fitment is on point. The clearances in places are... snug. The clearance at full lock to the tie rod is nearly non-existent at ride height, in bump it would touch. I ordered some steering rack limiters to make sure it doesn't touch.

Rear clearance to the fender tab is VERY close when the suspension compresses, but it does clear. Ideally I'd have a RUCA to pull the top of the wheel in, but here we are haha.

The front clearances are a bit easier, especially with the spacers. That said, the tie rod is VERY close.
