Seeing as LSD's are around $1000, I was thinking about welding my VCU......With my 600hp goal. Im very sure I will keep my T70 if I dont have to spend 2k on LSD's :D.

Will this make my trans stronger?
Has anyone done it and is there anything you dont like about it?
Know of any good write ups?
Anyone want to sell me a junk VCU so I dont have to ruin my good one? :D
Im sure theres a way to weld the rear diff...I just dont know how to go about it. Any write ups on that?

Thanks a bunch :D

It doesn't make it stronger, it just eliminates front to rear wheel slip. Enough wheel slip can make your center diff frag, so this can help prevent that. Eliminating the VCU by welding the center diff makes it harder to park your car, and can make it chirp, or squirm when taking tight bends.

Welding the rear diff makes your car even more of a bitch to park, and it will squirm and chirp tires in bends as well.

Im not to worried about parking because there is almost no parallel parking spots around here. And I dont mind the chirping and wearing :).

Ok so would I still have to get a front LSD or is that weldable also? Or are ours already LSD since we have ABS? Could it handle 600awhp?

A fully welded drivetrain would be... really silly on the street.

 Thats fine with me :) Especially cause its so cheap

Could our VCUs handle 600AWHP?

Easily. Ray is running a stock VCU, IIRC.

Very nicely put.

There is no need to weld all 3, i am making 500 wtq on completely stock drivetrain with no bracing. How you drive the car is more important than how strong it is. Like i have said in many other threads, our shop evo makes 800 whp has made 100's and 100's of passes on the track, street, and dyno and never broken a T-case yet. We have a customer who has had 2 evos with decent bolt ons, his current evo makes 400 wheel and in about 5 passes at the track has broken 3 transfer cases because he cumps the clutch.

If anything weld the center diff, and maybe the front, if you do this maje sure you leave power steering, because it gets real hard to turn.

i wouldn't weld anything. even with vcu replacements, it still makes more sense to weld the planetaries or trade with someone who has a toasted vcu.

Ya I was going to get a toasted one if I do this.

Still wouldn't do it. The people that have done it regret doing it.
