After having watched that episode I have come to two possible conclusions:
1) The show lines up buyers before they purchase a car and then ensure the car is fixed up to meet the buyer's wishes
2) People in California like ugly wheels, imo, on VR4's
Otherwise I just can't fathom how a 'market', aka the majority of potential buyers, would want the stock wheels on a 2nd gen car. I can understand a small portion of people liking them but not the majority.

pretty sure you're right on both of those.

Agreed, but while I really got a kick out of seeing the Villains, prospective buyers always seem to want to think they should be the ones deciding which mods to go with when departing from stock.
My car was untouched, except for non-ECS shocks - I arrived to pick it up with a new PFIK in hand, and I was the one who pulled the restrictor, etc.
I have the fans in my basement. :p
Anyway, it was just nice to see someone blowing air up the platform's skirt, yes?
They fixed all the doodads and sold it to a chick...good TV. :D

He sure made a funny face when talking about the wheels he spent $1000 on... without tires!
Yeah, his stupid is enthusiastic, though...:p

It was not actually sold. They just added that bit at the end. The girl "bought" it on the show posted on FB that they faked that part.

Though I can't say this is surprising it does kind of undermine the premise of the show. But the more important question is if they asked her to say the 2nd gen wheels were a good touch.

I love the 2nd gen chromies...they look fantastic IMO.

2g Stealth TT chromies are the best looking stock wheel IMO.

One the guys that used to live in the STL area also loved his 2nd gen chromies, so much so that he spent time looking for a way to re-chrome them. So I know you guys are out there I just don't believe you make up the majority of the VR4 buying market.
But then again what do I know, I haven't bought one of these cars in 13 years.

Gawd, you're old...:p
I would argue that point but I don't have the time, I need to go tell some kids to get off my lawn....

Who am I to refuse tips and tricks. And you have peaked my interest, what sorts of other activities constitute "stuff like" telling people to get off your lawn?
There is a religious aspect I won't bore you with, but general curmudgeonly-ness R me, as you know.
As a newly-old guy, you'll need some guidance, I'm sure you'll agree. ;)

I've been out of the 3/S game for quite some time so I enjoyed seeing one worked on. Anybody know who makes that replacement shifter? I'm pretty sure my car has that piece of garbage he threw out. (edit: yes I'm late, I literally just watched the ep)

Welcome back - I've been after an Ohio-Bob or Seattle-short shifter forever.
Be really cool if someone could work up a group buy, like we used-to.
I might take a swing at it, if I had one in hand as a template.

It's a seattle bearing loaded shifter. I have one, I would not buy any other shifter.

sdup f*cker! I think someone mentioned you on that "other forum" the other day. you should pop back in. pretty dead these days since they banned politics. no one has anything to talk about besides their flower bed in the back yard or fantasy football.

Due to my now far more domestic lifestyle, flower beds and a new kid is pretty much all I'd be able to contribute at this point LOL
Heh - took me until about ten years ago to get beyond flowerbeds.
Having really bad knees helped a lot. ;)

you'd be in good company. most everyone is doing the domestic kids/wife things. I'm one of maybe 3 or 4 guys that aren't married and one of them is a total cuck anyways.
