Any reason you don't want to switch to a sealed battery?

I ran sealed batteries for some time, went through numerous ones. The problem being they kept dying on me, even when on my float charger they would always slowly die out. Once sealed batteries hit a certain voltage, like 5-6 volts they are worthless, won't recover and are void of warranty. I went through Optima, Odyssey, Etc. Got tired of pissing the money way. Have had my Energizer wet battery now for two years without any issues. I have a small AGM Kinetic battery in the trunk to assist with voltage drops for the stereo and fuel pump. It is nowhere big enough to start the car though.

Rear is a lot easier when you have as much deleted from the car as I do. No heat shields and shit in the way so it's easy to get to the bolt.

Curious, what are you using to film with?

Main camera I use for the interview portions is a Nikon D3200 at 1080P w/ 18mm lens mounted on a rail system with follow focus, matte box and external monitor. I was using a Rode VideoPro mic on a boom but didn't like the sound, So I switched to a Stony Edge Simple Lav mic which I really like. For mounted shots I have 2 x 4k Action Camera shooting 2.7k on clamp mounts that I move around. I also use a GoPro hero 3 for the "Selfie" shots as I am able to use an external Lav mic right into the GoPro for Audio. I also use a Neewer Lav mic connected to my Iphone 6 running the Rode Recording app and I sync up the audio in Post.

I'm finishing up filming of Episode 3 probably today/tomorrow. Then I hope to have all editing and cuts done by friday, Render complete Saturday and then posted online saturday night.

I'll be on a fishing trip at the Outer Banks all next week So there may be a slight delay in Episode 4 or a may just thrown something together, who knows. Most of the project and episodes are pre-planned but I should have enough B-roll and other stuff to throw together an episode when I get back. That's the good things about shooting with 4 cameras...LOL.

For future episode I'll be making a change to the music being used. I'll strictly be using music from NCS going forward to alleviate myself of any issues with Youtube copyright content. NCS provides free music to original content creators without the worries of Youtube interfering. You can check out more about them and what they do here - http://nocopyrightsounds.co.uk/

This is a personal choice and not a sponsor by any means. The title intro music will stay the same as that is already copyright free content.

Finished editing Episode 3 and it is rendering out now. Should be complete in a couple hours and then I start uploading to YouTube. If it completes tonight then it will be available to subscribers first and then tomorrow sometime released to everyone else. why not use air or electric Tools for the sanding? :)

I did use an air die grinder with sanding disks on it for some of the larger areas. In the engine bay there are too many uneven surfaces so best to just do it by hand. With the rest of the body it will be just a rough up with 600 grit so that will be done by hand also.

I have heard there was an audio issue in the last episode. I'm not sure if it was due to Youtube processing or something I did on my end. I'm still investigating it and hopefully I will not have a repeat of it with the next episode.

LOL I usually only wear the white t-shirts when I know I'm going to get dirty. Since I'm starting reassembly you will probably see less of it as I'll be re-installing nice clean parts. So no worries of messing up the good clothes... :p

Yeah, I had planned audio tracks to use, but I got hit with copyright claim on the first video I released using it "which I had to delete" so I had to switch the music up. The original audio was supposed to be royalty free and free use, Lies!!!

The current audio tracks I use are from a UK company called NoCopyrightSound and they specifically release tracks to be used for YouTube for free. I may change things up here in a bit. shorten the into and change the audio. out. It is something I have been thinking about doing. The intro is a bit long now for the series. I should have trimmed it down after the intro was released but I didn;t want to go back and reedit the original master...LOL

Keep the comments coming as it will only make things better.... I hope :)

There seems to be dwindling interest in the series according to the stats on the videos and the facebook page The last video I set it up on Facebook that if the post got 50 likes and 10 shares I would make it live as I'm trying to get more interest and traffic to it. If I can't keep consistent interest in the series then I may stop doing it unless the stats convince me otherwise.

The point is more to draw interest back to the platform which has gone to shit the last 5+ years. There are very few doing anything of interest anymore and the scene has moved more to "kids not being able to keep their cars running", Part-outs, Ricer builds and "I want to make XXX hp on my neglected engine".

It's gotten to the point that there is no interest in the platform anymore and it comes from lack of involvement from the owners, Minus a select few. If the members/owner don't start taking it upon themselves to generate the interest who will?

I wouldn't be expecting big numbers to begin with.. Just watch the forums not much being posted.

Most are not involved with their car anymore I figure. My car is still a side hobby for me but for most interest will fade after a few years of ownership. It's only natural with an old platform like this.

No I was never expecting big numbers. I knew that would be a far fetched dream...LOL I'm basic it off of the decline of viewers on the videos as the series progresses. Each episode is not lucky to see 60 people view it. Most people only watch about 4-6 min of the video and move on. That to me shows a lack of interest.

BTW Episode 7 is now live even though it didn't hit the goal... Figured best to do it tonight and not on Halloween night when everyone will be out and about I'm sure.

Thats a shame that most people dont even watch the entire video. They arent that long and I personally have enjoyed watching the progression of the car and how much detail you are going into with this build.

Yeah, I purposely try to only keep them about 20 min long. Seeing as I start with 5-6 hours of footage I cut out 90% of what's going on and speed up the more interesting scenes if need be.

I'll continue to watch them all, thanks for taking the time to make them. Make sure to get some bare metal showing on that powdercoated alternator bracket, I've had to fix a few of these cars after they powdercoated the bracket and didn't get a proper ground afterwards.

I use a separate standalone ground cable running directly from the alternator to the frame. I don't rely on the alt->engine->engine mount->frame as a good grounding point...LOL :)

I enjoyed what I did watch. My problem wasn't lack of interest, it is my sucky computer bogging down. I need a new one bad.

I'm hoping to shop for a new PC or parts to build one this month, then I can catch up on them all.

Episode 8 is now Live!! Majority of the episode is the rebuild of the power steering pump as it was one of the main things holding me back from getting the engine installed. So I was able to finish that up, button up the last of the engine bay and Safelite got the new windshield installed!

If you don't mind me asking what did the windshield install run you? My windshield has a chip in it that has been in it for years now, but I still wouldn't mind getting it taken care of once I (if I? :lol: ) get the car back on the road.

Short episode but an important one as I finally get the motor dropped back into the car. I also do some work to the AC system getting it set to be charged up later on down the road.

Figured I would drop an update on the forums since it may be awhile till my next video gets released and those not on facebook may not see the post.

Here is the latest post from the page following the Episode 15 release:

It's Saturday which means it's time for another video! Sadly it may be awhile before the next one gets released. My vacation from work is over so I won't have the free time like before to work on the car everyday. Plus winter is here so that also slows things down. I've still got tons to knock out and as soon as I get enough footage together I'll release another video, it may just be a month before the next installment.

I have taken all of the footage I have up till now and released a large episode with it. hopefully this will hold everyone over for the time being. :p
