So i got my 92 stealth rttt this summer and it has been quite the project for me. This is my first project car and I am deffinitley learning alot. I have fixed alot of the little problems and now as far as I can tell it has one last problem to be fixed and im hoping to have it going before winter.

So, the problem: It looks and smells like it is running rich at idle. I can drive just fine at lower rpms, but as soon as i make boost, it bogs down and if i continue to give it gas it dies and has trouble starting again (because its flooded?). Im also not sure about my turbo situation. Without the car in gear, i can rev it up just fine but im not making boost (im not sure if that is normal or not). I remember when i first got the car i could rev it up to 4k and here the bov woosh but not anymore. It doesnt smoke or make sounds like a blown turbo though.

My thoughts are the fuel to air ratio is being thrown of by a bad sensor, either tps or maf. I havent been able to find info on how to diagnose either of those though.

Additional info:

Fuel pressure is fine, I installed a ninja performance guage on the fuel rail which i highly recommend.

The ECU is new

It had a very unproffesional engine swap and the wiring is kind of a mess so that could be an issue but im not sure.

Thanks for reading, let me know if you have any helpful ideas or need more info. I plan on actually posting pics once I get the thing running right.

Scan for codes is where I would start.

Aftermarket blow off? Is the vac line still hooked up correctly?

It is aftermarket, the vac line is connected and it sucks. I don't have a check engine light, so would a scanner actually read anything?

What sucks?

The vac line or the bov? Sucks air or is a piece of shit?

Scanner could still show something. Did it ever run right while you have had the car?

If the wiring is all messed up, it'll be tough to diagnose. For maf and tps it should trow a code.

The vac line sucks air, sorry for the confusion.
No it hasnt been running right since i got it. When i first got it the issue was that everything electrical would cut out at random, so i replaced the ecu and that solved that problem. At least when i had the bad ecu i was making good boost.

Put the stock BOV back in and drive it and report back. Some cars just do not like an open BOV.

I actually dont have the stock one. Is there some kind of test i can do to rule that out?

I haven't done a boost leak test or an exhaust leak test and some people have recomended that. The problem is I dont have an air compressor. Does anyone know if there is a simple way to do a leak test without a compressor?

Buy a cheap one from home depot for 30 bucks.

My wife has one in her car, its decently accurate up to 30lbs.

People will give you a stock bov for free.
