picked this evo up about a month ago with ~14k miles on it, bone stock from car max for a good deal. ill be posting what she does to the car here as we go along.

Well, it's mod time for this car. Her first mod that she has chosen is a stage three clutch by exedy. Even with the low miles, we don't know how the previous owner treated it, and we definitely know how this owner will treat it so, clutch exhaust and tune are up first. After that it'll be full suspension (coilovers, sways, etc) and wheels.

Have fun with that job... Is the stage 3 full face still? I googled and couldn't find a stage 3 exedy clutch, lol.

The X's are nice cars but for the power they make, they are behind the curve. Definitely a bit porkier than the earlier EVO's. My buddy with an 8 who had full bolt-ons with a 9 turbo beat my other buddies X, which made over 490whp full bolt-on with the fp-mhi18k? i think it was...awesome handling cars though.

The X is miles better out of the box than any of the earlier Evos. The earlier Evos are better at drag racing, but that's not really the point of an Evo is it? :)

ended up ordering a fresh clutch for it this morning.
old owner didnt know how to drive and burnt it up, ended up going OEM again because she doesnt plan on doing much over BPU.
ordered thou cherry hill, apparently, the old 3si and 3sgto codes no longer work.

Coilovers are here and going on this weekend
MAPerformance evo 8 CMC conversion on its way and will be here this weekend and installed too
Hallman boost controller is here and we will be installing that when the exhaust arrives as we will be installing them together then imidiately tuning.

since i was last here we have removed the front license plate holder and had the bumper repaired and repainted
installed MAPerformance hardpiping kit
ordered MAPerformance intake
CCW twisted classics 18x10 +32 1.5" of lip on the way
lined up a powdercoater to do the valve cover, calipers, intake, hard piping, catch can and the STM aluminum powersteering res. in rose gold.
bought alot of stainless steel bolts
next thing to order is the aluminum valve cover, caliper rebuild kits, braided brake lines then everything can go off to powder

Oh man, I forgot these came with the plastic valve cover. When people went top mount turbo they were melting the valve cover. Good times.

its ok, we knew you were not too swift.

also, we found when getting the front bumper fixed it has an upgraded AMS front mount in it. apparently carmax returns cars to stock, but only if its easy, so the piping kit had been swapped back out to stock, but the front mount remained, only reason i looking into it is that the stock piping onto the intercooler had AMS written on the couplers.

Are the 15x10's going to fit without rubbing? I was reading around forums trying to see about if by 17x9 +30 Villains would fit and everyone was saying they rubbed in the rear. I'm not entirely sure if it was Lancer only, as I know the Evo has slightly wider fenders, but I'd hate to see you get tires mounted only to find out they are going to tear them up.

The 10" wide wheels fit fine. There's a couple of local guys running autocross with the 10s with no fitment issues.

well, had it tuned by Blevins tuning over the weekend on 23 PSI, and man, what a difference now. the car probably only makes 50 more horses (around 330AWHP) but man, when comes on, it hits!
