...REALLY don't agree with this:

'Stolen Valor' conviction overturned by federal appeals court | Fox News (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/01/12/stolen-valor-conviction-overturned-by-federal-appeals-court.html?intcmp=hpbt4)

People who commit such a heinous act ought to be dry-fucked with a cactus.

I think the legislators miss the issue entirely. Stolen valor isn't about freedom of speech. Nor is it about egotistical veterans incensed at the chest candy they never legitimately earned (most of them), but yet is brazenly displayed by posers. No, the REAL issue is domestic support for the military. It should still be fresh in the minds of our elected officials how disastrous Vietnam was--with regards to domestic support for our military. (Although, given how few legislators actually serve anymore, perhaps not). In any case, domestic support for the US military is crucial for a properly functioning military.

Stolen Valor countermands this by subjecting society to people who are NOT veterans, but yet claim (or demand) respect/kickbacks from being as such. The cumulative effect of which is a growing distaste for ALL things military & a view of the military as entitled pricks. So while I get the idea of 1st amendment protections, the government is kneecapping itself by not perceiving the bigger picture. Because 1 fat-ass poser with the medals of a tin-pot dictator, demanding food/drinks/special treatment....does more to hurt domestic support of the military than $10,000 in propaganda can to negate it.
