Had some free time on a couple Saturdays last month which gave me a chance to try out a new paint touch-up repair method I had been wanting to try out.

Since I bought my car in Nov 2012, it has had a small scrape on the passenger side of the front bumper, right by the wheel. Previous owner probably brushed a curb once and it took off a small area of paint. This spot has always bugged me, but it was too large to fix with brush on touch up paint, yet it was such a small area, that I wasn't going to redo the entire bumper just to fix this little imperfection. So, I decided to do some blending using my airbrush, and some old touchup bc/cc paints I had on hand.

No thread on paint repair is ever good without before and after shots, so I made sure to take a few photos throughout the process.

Before:
8474

After Initial Sanding And Primer:
8475

While Sanding Primer:
8476

After Applying the touch-up paints and color-sanding/buffing:
8477

Considering the process only took about 3 hours total (spread across two different days), and I used materials I already had on hand anyway, I'd say this turned out excellent. I can post a how to/supplies needed if anyone is interested in trying this themselves.

Note that this obviously isn't the best way to fix your car's paint, and works best only on small, inconspicuous areas, but it definitely turns out better than brush-on touchup paint!

that's amazing. if only I didn't have a tri-coat I could fix a few scrapes and scratches.
