View Full Version : 18's or 20's for truck wheels?

I know the basics of plus sizing, which is usually that larger size handles better, but gets worse MPG & rides rougher.

That said, I'd like honest opinions. I'd be running (most likely) 265/60r18 or 265/50r20 tires. I'm not sure how much sidewall is needed to maintain a "cushy" ride. I'm also not sure how much this will change unsprung mass (after factoring in tire/wheel combo together).

Anyone have any input?

As long as you aren't building a pimper, put a good/suitable stock diameter tire and don't compromise comfort. :wink:

See, that's the thing though. There's not a huge difference in price between the two. If we were talking $100+ difference, that might be one thing--but I think we're talking barely $100 for a set.

I'm leaning towards the 18's though. I like the look of 20's...but the ones I've got my eyes on are about a 11lbs difference between 18's and 20's. That's a pretty substantial amount of unsprung weight.
