I hate them!
So do most of the people I work with.
I know I'm old but it was always a business power move.
Out dated?
Worse yet...limp hugs!
If I like you and want to hug you a limp hug just pisses me off.
I'm not from Hollywood!
Keep it real folks!
Maybe they don't want to hug?

I hate limp but I hate the guy that want's to crush the hand too. The to hard guy is a total lack of pussy guy. Want's to take the firm because he never had the caress.
The limp? I hate that too, you have no ambition or just a weak person.
The custom of 'meeting' another person has become diluted, I think.
I always wonder if people - guys, especially - even think of what the other person takes away from a handshake, proper or otherwise.

Dead fish handshakes are the worst.

"Premature" grip is the worst in my opinion, Nothing like an awkward handshake with someone's fingers.

As a female I don't encounter the over power handshake.
No fun power shaking with Granny.
Those people have issues.
Are they trying to show domanace?
Or are they so wimpy they think they have to prove something?
Could they be an adult bully?
Nice firm handshake...nothing more...nothing less
They used to teach this when preparing you for job interviews.

I am with Paul. Another one I hate that just seems disrespectful is the guy that offers his hand, and does not grip or do anything. Just puts his hand out with nothing in return. Not limp, or week, just there.
Then there are the assholes that are above acknowledgement, self_rightous_pricks...

only 1 way to properly shake hands (broshake). grasp thumb, pull towards chest, hug around back. you can't "oversqueeze" someone's thumb (unlike crushing the hand); you don't have to worry about shiens with double-fisting shake; etc. and you don't have to worry about how firmly you can hug someone, because you're only using 1 arm to hug, and there's a handshake in the middle so it's not creepy.

Lacks the necessary formality for non-social events, which is what I thought we were referring to.

screw tradition. use a shoulder grasp if you don't like hugs.

I got no problem with hugs.
Not gonna do it to my new boss.
Questionable when meeting a prospective father-n-law.
I think we agree, Carlos, except it isn't always appropriate.

My sons do the Broshake but it's with close friends.
They use a traditional handshake when greeting an aquatance or in business.

a dead fish hand shake tells me that you don't give 2 shits about meeting me and really don't want to be doing it in the first place. I instantly write off people that do that as not being important to the situation.

If you genuinely don't like them, leave them hanging ;).
