fellas, I went back over 2 years of threads looking for ECS discussions and didn't see anything. I am being told by a mechanic that I need new rear struts. the car does ride pretty rough but its new to me and I have nothing to compare to. they showed me that I cannot push down on the rear of the car. there is no cushion or give to the suspension and the front does still push up and down. anyway they are suggesting new quick struts and they do have the electronic plug for ECS. I guess I would leave the current springs.

BUT my issue is that I have NO lights on my dash to indicate that my ECS is working or broken. its supposed to show "sport" or "touring" and its supposed to blink if faulty. I have nothing and I don't feel a change when I push the button. I read about the ECS as much as I could on 3swiki and stealth316. I see that its operated by hydraulics and I printed out a few pages on how to check the ECS for damage, but if it isn't damaged I don't understand how to test it to see that its working.

before I replace the struts, is it possible that my ECS is broken and stuck in sport mode? in good condition would it have no room to push the car down in the rear? Does someone know why I wouldn't have a light either way? working or broken?

If you have no travel on the rear they are busted. If you have no light coming on the dash when pushing the switch the bulb is blown, the struts are not ecs that are installed, and/or the ecs unit is faulty. I have seen where people have removed the bulb to sell it due to blinking.

Pull the rear interior caps to access the strut plugs, and see if they are infact ecs/plugged in.

If you have no travel they need replaced.

If you have no dash light pull, and test the light/check to see if it exists still.

Check the fronts while you are at it to see if they have plugs as well...

Another thing that a lot of people who own these cars do to "fix" the blinking lights problem is completely remove or disconnect the ECS controller in the back of the car.

Check inside the trunk area in the right rear part of the trunk. Look for one of these and see if it's either missing or disconnected.

Oh yeah I checked all 4 shock plugs and the ECS computer. Everythings plugged in. Not good with wiring so I'll try to figure out how to check to see if a bulb is burned out in the displays. Thnx guys. It would be a plus if the ECS worked but at this point I just need new struts for a smoother ride!
