Hey guys,

Quick question, are you able to see the timing belt "ninja star" enough by just removing the upper timing belt covers to check the timing marks? I have a fear I used the white mark instead of the notch on the gear when I did my timing belt a few years back and just realized it. I want to check it but rather tear it down as little as possible.

I'm hoping I'm just being forgetful since we followed the factory manial when installing it but rather be careful than sorry.

Picture for reference of the gear I'm talking about.

Thanks
Josh

with the notch lined up properly, isn't that TDC? set the balancer to TDC & check cam marks?

No, you would need to remove the lower cover to see it.

set the balancer to TDC on the cover shown in the pic then see if the upper marks are on.

Yeah, just use your crank pulley to check alignment. No need to use the gear. Line up your cams, see where the crank pulley is.
