New tunes thread

Lately Americas pop culture has left a nasty taste in my mouth. I'm starting this thread so we can share our taste in " un-popular" music. The rules are name the band, your favorite song by the band, and why you like them. I hope this thread can broaden everyone's perspective on music and be quite fun. I'm going to start it off, Oh and lets be middle aged adults and not poke fun at someones horrible music taste, especially mine :D

why - the lead singer is Chino Moreno who is also the lead singer of the Deftones. I find this music very relaxing.

Kathy Mattea - 455 rocket
My dad popped her cassette into my vr4 one night during some spirited driving and its been in my car ever since. I have never listened to any of her other stuff but i like this song. everyone says its going to describe me and my vr4 one day.

The Offspring - Worst hangover ever
Pretty funny song that describes collage life exactly, but isn’t as 'poppy' as Asher Roth.

MGMT - Time to pretend
I’m not sure exactly why i love this song so much but its just the type of song that i can listen to over and over and it never gets old. its been on my play list for at least a year and i still listen to it every day.

none of those are new hits but they might be new to someone.

My friend recently showed me this song... I like the transitions to different types of music. Its a good song to pump me up before paintball too. Not as effective if it isn't really loud, lol. Its basically a song making fun of alot of other artists.

this one is really wierd and was only added to my playlist because it was mislabled. it actualy took a while for me to figure out what it really was. i dont know why but i kinda like it. the music video is wierd though. its kinda a technoish remix song. i doubt many people will like it but its def different lol.

I heard this song on a show my fiance was watching...it was something about strippers and the girl was dancing and stripping to it...instant hit in my book.

I ran across a mixed CD I found in a parking lot about a week ago and this was one of a few songs I was able to get from it. Showed a friend who also likes music and he knew exactly who it was. another instant hit for me.

Saw these guys at a local venue tonight, they played for over 2 hours and really wanted to be there. I really liked their music because it had so many flavors. Hope you guys enjoy.

^Totally 80's. So much of the "listen to us, we're different" is the 80's all over again. Which is "ok", I enjoyed the 80's.

I like the "newgrass" revolution that's going on among young'ns. Always been into that kind of music so it's nice to see it getting some appreciation. I hope a lot of them stick with it, as right now it's just the "trendy" thing to listen to... I mean some of the young people I hear talking about it, simply have no clue. :/
