Only 12 more months until the NFL hands the Patriots yet another Super Bowl win on a silver platter! :D

But offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said Lockette shares the blame.
Lockette "could have been stronger through the ball," Bevell pointed out to reporters multiple times.

- Bevell: Lockette 'could have been stronger' to ball - NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000467672/article/bevell-lockette-could-have-been-stronger-to-ball?campaign=Facebook_atn_rosenthal)

for what it's worth, I do think that Lockette could've been stronger to the ball like the OC says. Watching the play, you can see he looks like he flops and gestures for a flag. That said, still a shitty playcall not to run it IMO. Realistic worst case, lose a yard or two and waste some clock. Still leaves 2 downs and 30 seconds to score with a timeout left.

I believe Lockette thought he'd be unimpeded to the ball, and thought he was moving with proper alacrity.

I doubt Lockette had a clue Butler was going to even be a factor, given Butler's angle-of-attack - made possible by the corner jamming Kearse and not allowing him to 'pick' Butler - I think that is proven out by the gymnastics Lockette went through on his way to the ground, which strongly indicate he wasn't anticipating any sort of collision.

Likewise, I think it was this lack of anticipation that led him to gesture for a flag.

The OC is a dumbass and is just trying to pass the blame of his terrible playcall. Lockette did what he was asked to do. The DB jumped the route. The only blame of that entire situation falls on Bevell and Carroll for calling an inside pass in the first place.

HilbillyHomeboy
02-02-2015, 06:27 PM
It really wasn't a bad strategy. But, yeah, inside pass? How about, no? QB roll out to a corner pass or just through the back of the endzone if it falls apart. Carroll said he (basically) didn't give a shit if the pass worked or not, so why take a risk like that? Cra-zy.

Agreed 100%. The only pass on that play should have been on a rollout. It gives them a few options at that point. Float it to the corner, throw it away, try to be a defender to the pylon.

Let's forget the fact that Marshawn Lynch is in the backfield, and no coach in the history of football would call an inside slant in that situation. None.

I like how you threw on the again even thought they never have before. but you see the difference here is if they did I'll accept it and call the penalty per the rule justified and not make a bunch of BS excuses. ;)

that being said I find it hard to believe. then again maybe they did to drown out the Steelers, Browns and Bears fans so it wouldn't sound like an away game on tv. :dontknow: maybe the cold weather set the speakers off or something. ;)

they still have to pay the fine and still lose draft picks. the judge just ruled that they couldn't prove Brady's involvement. basically saying that the ball boys just decided to deflate the balls all on their own accord. something we all know would never happen anyways.

HilbillyHomeboy
09-04-2015, 07:21 AM
It's actually worse than that. It was said that Brady could not have been aware of the punishment being so severe. Basically, "there's nothing in the rule books that says if you deflate balls, or have knowledge thereof, you will be subject to the same punishment as someone who used PEDs."

I'm just glad it's over so hopefully we don't have to hear about it every 3rd minute of the day. ESPN, you can get back to stroking off LeBron now.

CoreyB

You guys always leave out the fact that the balls were never deflated to begin with. You always run right by that lack of evidence and right to judgement on whether the ball boys would do it without Bradys consent.
Questions for those that still dont get it...
When the balls were initially inspected, what were the exact pressures in each one and was it documented?
What gauge was used to measure the balls during the initial inspection?
What gauge was used at half time?
How much under 12.5 were the Patriots balls, bow far under were the Colts?
How many Colts balls were measured?
According to the ideal gas law how much should the balls measure?

Is there any evidence the balls were tampered with? No there isnt, so why are we accusing Brady of cheating?

Lack of evidence...Brady has a "lack of deniability" to match any lack of evidence.

He has the same problem Hillary Clinton has - no explanation for the highly suspicious and damning circumstances that lead unerringly to the conclusion that a cover-up has taken place.

As far as whether-or-not Brady is believable, those of us in the court of public opinion are not bound by any legal considerations, and once again, I find this an ideal time to cite my favorite quote:

"Telling the truth is NOT the same thing as making sure no one can prove you are lying."

Echo419

09-04-2015, 09:54 AM
And if there's one thing everyone--outside of the RDF that's at category 5 in NE--is aware of, it's that there's cheating going on there. Only those in NE are going to be shocked in 25-35 years when evidence becomes "unclassified", and players begin writing tell-alls about how much shiens they got away with in NE.

CoreyB
09-04-2015, 10:06 AM
Looks like you guys are in more denial than I am lol. When facts dont support your argument you just deny there existence.
Big FACT for Echo, yes the amount of air loss is easily explained by the ideal gas law. Those who want to believe they cheated will believe it regardless of any proof that they didnt. Goodell himself could anounce it publicly that the whole thing was bs and the haters would just accuse him of being bought out.

After glossing over most of this debate, I'd like to point out that I despise NE as much as the next guy, however if you think every team in the NFL isn't doing as much as they possibly can (to include messing with the balls) then you are in denial. I don't think it changed the course of the game in any meaningful way, and there is no evidence that it was a season long event either. Fact is, with or without the suspension, NE probably is going to walk to another division crown.

Kind of funny since the Redskins realized 2 years ago they needed to build up the line to protect Griffin from his injuries. Now they have one of the best O-lines in the NFL and have decided Griffin won't be their QB anymore. The running game is now the beneficiary of the upgraded line.

The o-line mash up is troublesome, but even when Luck did have time, or scrambled to make time, the receivers were straight getting their asses kicked. Granted, the Jets defense is no joke, but those receivers have got to win the battles some of the time. But, it's also beyond difficult to open up the pass game when you can't run the ball, which falls back on the o-line. Lot of problems in Indy...

Damn Redskins sh*t the bed in prime time once again. Since 2008, here's the scores of their prime time embarrassments:
16-7
23-6
27-17
45-12
59-28
18-16
33-26
33-27
34-27
27-6
45-14
27-17

I think they've only had 3 wins in prime time since 2008 and the losses have been colossal blunders. If you missed last night, they got a punt blocked for a safety, threw an int. when pinned back inside their 10 and fumbled the ball out of the endzone when going in for a TD that would have cut it to a manageable 12 pt game.

One of the best recent Redskins prime time showings came when they beat the Cowgirls a few years back for the NFC East title though. :D

I still remember watching that game. I was seeing a girl that lived in the Richmond area and went to visit her that weekend. We went out to dinner at Applebee's and they had the game on there, with sound on and everything. There were a ton of Redskins fans there as well as some Cowboys fans, wearing their garb and all.

As the game was winding down and the announcers were talking about "Romo's magic" and how he could lead them down the field to victory I said, out loud, "Now's about the time Romo throws a pick."

There were two Boys fans sitting at the table next to us on the next level down and they both gave me the stink eye. Wouldn't you know it, Romo throws an INT the very next play. I busted out laughing, my girlfriend busted out laughing, the Cowboys fans slammed there hands on the table, gave me a dirty look, and walked out the restaurant.

ftfy.

Tom Brady is like the MJ of the NFL--the bit players are what make him so great. He's got the good fortune to have the NFL's Phil Jackson coaching, and the best supporting cast in the league. MJ without Scottie Pippen, Horce Grant & Phil Jackson---would be the Dan Marino of the NBA at best; he's pretty darn good, but can't possibly be called GOAT. And that's not even mentioning the continuous cheating that--hand to god--is still going on this day behind closed doors in Foxboro.

ONLY an overzealous NE fan (actually, there are no other types) would credibly argue that Brady's overall QB numbers are better than Peyton's. All NE fans care about are rings--and that's why Belicheat is willing to stop at nothing to keep racking them up (what, I lose a draft pick? LOLOL!) And when Brady is forced to retire, NE will acquire another Curtis Painter to replace him, and will CONTINUE to go to the playoffs at 12-4. Unless, of course, Belicheat calls it quits too. And that's quite possible--because it would allow NE fans to remain smug forever--even though their team would instantly return to Tampa Bay/Oakland status.

Last time the AFC East had 3 teams in the playoffs in 1 year (which is usually a solid indicator of conference strength)--was 2001. It's happened in the AFC north quite a bit more, recently (a bit less with the AFC South, NFC East, AFC West, etc--but still more recently). Ironically, that's also when this "dynasty" happened. I'm sure spygate had nothing to do with that coincidence. /sarcasm

HilbillyHomeboy

2001 is quite the operative date, as well. Considering that's the year BEFORE realignment. That division has been dead ever since. Pats have been the only team worth mentioning in the East. Buffalo looks like they may make some noise this year. Jets are getting better, but still a ways to go. Miami is still schizo.

IIRC, the "other teams" (aka not the Steelers) of the North have been to to the playoffs 15 times and won 1 superbowl since realignment. The "other teams" (aka not the Pats) of the East have been to the playoffs 6 times.

Jeremy

CoreyB

Its funny watching people try to make sense out of how the Patriots could be so good for so long. Yes the AFC east has been terrible for a long time, last I checked the Patriots rarely see those teams in the playoffs and never in the SB. Go back and look at who the Pats had to play last year, I think you will find they had to play pretty much all the top teams regardless of conference and I think they ended up doing ok.

So if its not the weak division, and its not under-inflated footballs (As is obvious when looking at a SB victory against the best D in football and ridiculous stats in 3 consecutive games) could it be, just maybe that Brady is a damn good QB (the GOAT to most people including Montana) and Belichick is an amazing coach?

j2k4
09-30-2015, 12:05 PM
Okay, Corey.

If we grant as unassailable fact (and I think most would) that Brady is a superb quarterback, and that Belichik is likewise a visionary coach...why did they need to cheat?

Why can't you get beyond the ball-inflation issue and grant us those facts?

The Pats have a history of cheating, and that's all there is to it - whether or not they continue to cheat will be revealed in the fullness of time.

:corey:, the NFL's oversight credibility is about as poor as the USAF's--and likely worse. This is but one story amongst dozens that indicate a clear lack of due-process, oversight & leadership at the O-6 level and up...in many places.

http://www.jqpublicblog.com/congress-demands-answers-from-air-force-in-laughlin-witch-hunt/

Much like the USAF, I would not be surprised to see the NFL forced to capitulate with 3rd party oversight--due to catastrophic failures within the organization to self-police appropriately.

So the NFL is a cozy affair...so cozy, in fact, that the Commissioner and the the owner of the Pats conspire to destroy evidence of cheating in order to keep the "health of the league" from jeopardy - for the good of the other owners, which fact they can definitely get behind, cuz, well, MONOPOLY.

Since discussing any of this openly is arguably a threat to the entire league, Pats-fans are directed to deride those whose unblinkered view of things irritates them.

I don't blame you for all this, Corey - even Roger Goodell (the 45-million-dollar man) can't figure out how it works.

As inept as Goodell is, he's worth in excess of 2X what Brady is worth to the owners.

umm no. the judge ruled that the penalty of a 4 game suspension was over the top. he did not rule that they cheated or not. when in fact they did and still had to pay the fine and lost the draft pick. had he ruled that no cheating happened the fine and draft pick would have been overturned like the suspension.

Wrong on many accounts, because well, you didn't actually listen or read anything involving the case.

The courts ruling was that Brady was not treated fairly by the league, this was the only ruling he could make. The case was about whether the league had the power to treat a player the way they treated Brady, whether the process was fair. The judge was not allowed to rule on whether or not a violation was committed. He did however do a good job of destroying the NFL's case against Brady, even getting them to admit that they had zero evidence that Brady did anything wrong. He also questioned the Wells report when he discovered the little detail about the league using 2 different gauges to measure the balls. One gauge for pre-game (higher reading gauge) and one for half time inspection (lower reading gauge). When the league tested the balls at half time they tested them with the higher gauge 1st, this put the balls at an acceptable deflation from the weather, the league didnt like this so they switched to the lower reading gauge. Anyone who actually followed the case in court or actually read the Wells report knows this whole case was BS.

Lol. Goddell dropped the hammer on the Pats because he basically sucked Belicheat's cock when spygate erupted---and he pissed off EVERYONE in the NFL outside of NE when that happened. That's why Kraft was so pissed about the initial ruling against Brady--because he (butthurt) believe that Goddell was again going to gargle his balls.

Of course, since Goddell is--in fact--still in cahoots with NE, the intial "strong showing" to give Goddell public-face credibility, was soon lifted so that he could continue being buddy-buddy with his favorite owner in the NFL. Goddell is pulling off the NFL equivalent of what Turkey is doing with Syria/Iraq.

In other news, comedian Bill Cosby has been accused of drugging countless women for sexual purposes.

Cosby has remained largely silent on the matter, preferring to allow his layers to carry that particular ball.

Subsequently, court records were opened (how did THAT happen?) which indicated that, in order to financially settle prior legal complaints from an incomplete record of women who had similar sexual congress with Mr. Cosby, required him to elocute as to events between him and these women, where he freely admitted to drugging the women in order to have unimpeded sex with them.

This was, presumptively, to satisfy the record in order to complete those legal proceedings.

Mr. Cosby was not, however, subject to any criminal liability in that case.

So, from this example, we may draw the conclusion that while certain things may happen, the normal stink associated with them can be made to disappear, if one (or more) of the parties involved wishes that to happen.

Corey, do you regard Bill Cosby as having committed any sort of legal trespass, given those circumstances?

Goodell tried to tell the judge that it didnt matter if Brady did anything, it didnt matter if he treated Brady fairly, that he had the power to do anything he wanted. The judge disagreed.

The ball boys were suspended because the league asked the Pats to suspend them. The Patriots in complying with the league, as they did throughout the entire process suspended them. you say I'm wrong on many accounts then confirm everything I said. :lmao:

me: the judge ruled that the penalty of a 4 game suspension was over the top.
you: Brady was not treated fairly by the league.
over the top/not treated fairly. I'm not sure how you can interpret that any other way.

me: he did not rule that they cheated or not.
you: this was the only ruling he could make
again, I already referenced the ruling he made and that he did not make another. fact. regardless of why that's what happened. you can't get around that even with Belicheat logic.

even getting them to admit that they had zero evidence that Brady did anything wrong
you're right. but for some reason Jesu....sorry Brady felt the need to destroy his phone. literally every former player and coach interviewed or that commented on this said that the chances the "ballboy" decided to deflate the balls on his own for a playoff game because he thought Jesu...damn it Brady, would want it that way if demonstratibly felaticious at best.

He also questioned the Wells report when he discovered the little detail about the league using 2 different gauges to measure the balls. One gauge for pre-game (higher reading gauge) and one for half time inspection (lower reading gauge).
um so? unless these gauges were proven to be inaccurate via a certified calibration test by the department of weights and measures that's a moot point at best.

Goodell tried to tell the judge that it didnt matter if Brady did anything, it didnt matter if he treated Brady fairly, that he had the power to do anything he wanted. The judge disagreed.
see Carlos' comments on this matter.

on a side note what business is it of the federal gov't how the NFL of all places deciplines it's members?

me: ballboys were suspended and reinstated by the Pats not the league.
you: league asked the Pats to suspend them. The Patriots in complying with the league, as they did throughout the entire process suspended them. A little over a week ago the Pats asked the league to allow them to reinstate the ball boys,

you can spin it however you want. the fact remains the the Pats were the ones doing the suspending and the reinstating. I can tell you to jump and if you jump then you jumped. that does not mean I jumped.

I'm sorry that your team/owner/players are cheaters. that sucks big time. what sucks even more is that they can't man up, admit it and fix their behavior like others have. what next? are yopu going to try and tell us that Barry Bonds wasn't using drugs because he didn't do the injecting himself?

But hey, why not let the haters enjoy even more as I show them that their teams in fact have cheated MORE than the Patriots. So with that I will deflect and post this Your Team Cheats - The Definitive Guide to NFL Cheating (http://yourteamcheats.com/)

I know I know, only one of those teams has been exceptional for the past 15 years, so all those other cheating teams dont count.

Go ahead with your post's like "Typical Pats fan, deflects by pointing out other teams".

Echo419

 tell me that wasn't written by a Pats fan.

so lets take the Falcons for example.

Most recent: Noise Gate. caught, admitted to it and tok the punishment without federal involvement.

PEDs. a bunch of washed up players with the most recent being a practice team guy from 5 years ago. all of which served their punishment without federal involvement.

Cellphones gate. that was just Jim Mora being the dumb ass he is and violating a rule that he had no idea existed and gave no competitive advantage what so ever.

then the rest of everyone's list is riddled with bullshit like tampering which that list itself admits that it's so rampant that it really shouldn't even be a rule. dude that's a pathetic attempt to make everyone look as dirty as the Pats and Belicheat have been proven to be.

edit: The Patriots score "A Touch Below Average"?! are you kidding me?! this is comedy gold! protip Corey, don't show this to anyone that you want to take you seriously. ever.

P.S.
PED scandals are player-related scandals. They have never been team-related scandals.

CoreyB
09-30-2015, 08:20 PM
Oh that site is most definitely slanted. But to put things in perspective, the Falcons ADMITTED to cheating in a manor far worse than anything the Pats have been accused of or admitted too, yet nobody cares, why? Because they suck that's why. If you think deflating a ball will make your team as good as the Pats your an idiot.
Think about it,what is a bigger advantage, making an opposing offense unable to communicate or playing with a football 0.35 psi below the limit?
My guess is Brady is thankful that the league has figured out the team was wrong to use balls at the low limit and corrected it judging by his recent numbers. Just imaging what he could have done if they were over inflated like Rodgers likes.

Brady went to court for redress, correct?

He did it cuz "They done me wrong!"

In light of that, this-

let me tell you something about the crowd noise at the Georgia Dome. the team was VERY bad last year and the year before. so bad that people stopped going to the game. in fact during games like the Steelers it sounded like a Pitt home game in there because there were so many of them. I'm as certain as I can be without actually knowing that the sound pumped in there was so that people on tv didn't think it was a Pitt home game. I can't think of one instant where the away team had to take a time out because it was to loud. except maybe the Aint's. we show up for that game no matter what because F the Aint's.

at some point Corey it's stops being everyone else who is wrong. ;)

CoreyB

So you are of the opinion that the Falcans cheating didn't matter and therefore it doesn't make them cheaters? The team sucked so bad they had to cheat to not look pathetic to those watching on TV.

I think this topic has pretty much run its course.

On actual football talk. The guy who was given Brady's 400 TD ball by Amendolla gave it back so Brady could have it, that's pretty cool. Also the Patriots traded Hooman for Hicks, a bit surprised at this. I know we have good depth at TE but didn't think we really needed a DE.

pretty much this. that's what I think. maybe those that were doing it thought otherwise but based on the performance on the field that is my guess. still wrong regardless. but unlike the Foxboro Cheaters they admitted to it and took their punishment like a man.

OMG this. When Ben went down 2 weeks ago he was hit in the EXACT way that was made illegal because of Brady's injury. The play was not dirty, but it was illegal by the book. Ben has never gotten any of the calls like Brady gets. Hell, he got his nose broken once, and wouldn't you know it, no flag. Ben almost has his helmet ripped off, no flag. Well, had the Seahawks not been blessed with another ref gifted game, they'd now be 1-4. :lmao:

Well, the refs did miss one today too. PacMan took his helmet off arguing with a ref and was not flagged for it. While it may not have changed the outcome of the game, it could have.

What specifically makes you think that? Is it because I think Obama is a shitty president, but not an evil Muslim plant from hell who will only be happy after he rapes every white woman in America while their gunless husbands are forced to watch, all while living under sharia law?

People like you are the reason the Republican Party is fractured. You're the reason we'll have yet another democrat president.

Shouldn't you be busy hiding from terrorists or something?

Go stillers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
calls others Republicans. literally opposes them at every issue. claims not to be a liberal. :lmao:

I also call democrats democrats, socialists socialists, etc. I know I'm doing something right when hard lefties call me to right, and hard right people call me a dem. It's a symptom of ideology to assume someone with any different view to be a member of an opposing ideology. Truth is, I'm not an ideologue.

I have nfl network. What I don't have is dish, so I can't get all the games. If something I really want to see isn't on in my market, I'll find a way to stream online. Go stillers!

You're left of Libertarian--that makes you liberal in my book.

I to have terrorists tirelessly searching for me, my friends, and family. A simple tin foil hat can block a majority of their signals.

As to this, well this just SMACKS of leftist sarcasm and indifference. Furthermore, liberals are classically the ones who believe singing kum-by-yah around a campfire is and entirely possible and preferential alternative to actually sending people into combat to deal with belligerents who simply cannot be reasoned with.

So yeah, you're about as "right" as NE is collectively.

Now can we please get this thread back on track...back to bashing on the cheaters?

Pats wouldn't score 10pts if they couldn't run so many pick plays. those midget white WR's aren't getting away from anyone otherwise

If the Patriots were not SO GOOD, they wouldnt WIN SO MUCH!!!

For the record, even 10 points would have been a win yesterday.

After Spygate, Deflategate led to additional questions about New England’s credibility. Adams said he doesn’t believe the Patriots cheat but that they do what they can without breaking rules.
“I’ll tell you straight up, that’s a great organization,” Colts linebacker D’Qwell Jackson (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/9620/dqwell-jackson) told ESPN.com. “They win, and when you win, people try to nick and pick and pry to find the weakest one on the chain. Those guys have done a great job of winning. When you win, all the negativity comes out. It’s hard to walk into every game with a bull’s-eye on your chest and still be able to dominate games. I did not expect the story to go as far as it did. Crazy that it took off the way it did with some interceptions by me and Mike. It’ll be a story to tell whenever I have kids and grandkids.”

I never suspected the 90's bulls of cheating. Or even the 00's lakers. Not the 90's cowboys, the 80's skins, the 70's steelers, or even the fucking yankess.

Patriots are cheaters in the most epic sense of the word.

You probably were too young to notice or care or maybe you hadn't yet become so liberalized driving that deep seething hate for success you have. You can do your own research but you don't care.

Cowboys used illegal steroids made for horses in the 90s.

Redskins are apparently clean, though I don't think they had a big enough run to raise eyebrows.

Steelers are well known for being the team that largely popularized steroids in the NFL.....Starting.... You guessed it, in the 70s.

Yankees are well known for out spending everyone, so it's no secret to why they have success. Cheating in baseball is generally not considered a bad thing, it's pretty well known to occur.

And basketball.... Um yeah.
