for anyone who doesnt know what an accumulator is, is it's a housing with a plate and spring in it, so that when you press on the clutch, it dampens, retains and the applies the retained pressure. In the same way a fuel dampener works. To my knowledge, it makes activation and deactivation of the hydraulic fluid more more uniform and smooth.
A lot of high end cars with big torque have these things. And our JDM transmissions have TWO.
Just wondering if anyone who has swapped to an MR trans has kept them or just deleted them. If they make the clutch pedal softer I am all for keeping them because the car is my DD.
Do JDM vr4s have clutch vacuum assist?

The NA transmissions have a clutch damper. They actually make some things more difficult. Mine caused major issues with being able to bleed the clutch properly. I deleted mine and the feel of the clutch improved drastically. With the damper there was almost a dead spot in engagement. Without it, it feels much more mechanical. I now advise other NA members having bleeding issues to delete theirs as well.
Really it seems like the damper is for "comfort" for pansy drivers.

Clutch dampers make clutches feel like ass. They remove the feel at the engagement point. I'm this || close to deleting the damper on my daily because it's annoying as hell not having predictable engagement. My VR-4 was fantastic. My Evo felt like ass too and it had a clutch damper... My Supra (and my dad's pickup) don't have dampers and feel great. Seeing a trend?

The are designed for people who operate a clutch as a switch.

I put the demise of 2 clutches down to those dampers, it restricts the flow of fluid away from the slave cylinder.
If you are launching or flat shifting it's not good to have the clutch slipping!.
I got rid of the lot and fitted a braided line straight from master to slave.

I removed them from my euro spec car and it improved the clutch feel significantly. With those damper my clutch would slip during fast shifts on the track.

I think Keyan is starting to see a pattern here. LOL

I tend to overthink things and wondered if you installed multiple accumulators in series that it would make our clutches easier to operate without a vacuum boost
:p
i overthink a lot.
