Thought I'd share this here

A long long time ago in a flea market far far away I bought 2 crossbows for 50 bucks. This was about 20 years ago. One was a wooden one and the other was all brass and aluminum. The brass and aluminum one would break down and cock the string. I thought it was pretty bad ass and worth the investment. It had the limb and just needed the string. I went straight to the sporting good store and got my good news and bad news. The bad news was the limb was cracked, guy said "this has 175 lb pull. Just think what it would do to your face if it broke". With my good looks this just wasn't worth the risk. He said "The good news is this bow goes for $350 brand new, it's a Barnett Commando". At the time it was hard to find parts, he couldn't find the limbs, no internet!

FFwrd about 10 years I tried again to find parts...no avail. Then again about 3 years ago I tried again (with internet) got frustrated pretty quick. Well a few days ago I looked at it sitting in the garage and said this is going to happen. I spent about 10hrs searching and researching this bad boy. Now I have all parts heading my way the only bad thing is I can only get 150lb limbs in the US. I'd have to get Scotty or somebody to order a 175lb then send it to me if I wanted the extra 25.

The commando is a bit of a collectors item now. It was used in a James Bond flick and probably every ninja movie you have seen.

Anyway, before with one of the hooks polished.

It was/is a little rough, now I have the brass polished. I'm ether going to powder coat or sand and polish the rest.

Just to give an idea what it looks polished. Somebody spent a bunch of time on this.

Used nails in the back to keep the boxes from falling then spray glue after I ran out of nail.

This table was a perfect size and this Fender DeVille 4 10 cabinet was heavy enough to press shit down.

I think this thing would stop a 6.72X39, it should stop an arrow.

Very cool.

For target, i would make some limbs coming off the front a few inches and hang a piece of carpet from that. Works fantastic and will make your life easier pulling the arrows out.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind, I'm hoping they won't be very hard to pull out. I was going to make the one most people do with the stacked carpet but didn't have enough to do that.

pew pew pew

after almost 20 years or so I've finally shot this thing! It shoots well

After shooting it a bit more I'll tear it down and get it ready for powdercoat.

Your going to have to use standard bullet point practice heads on that or you'll never get it back out.

Got my 3 dot scope and and dovetail adapter mounted up. I sighted it in at 40ft top dot, 60ft middle and 80ft bottom. Since it has the 150lb pull instead of the 175 it drops too much after 80ft. Now I just need to tear it down and powder coat it.
