Just figured that since some guys think a stock Viper can be expensive ... Here's my Twin Turbo '99 Twin Turbo Viper GTS. I drive the car on pump gas at 10 psi shich makes 1100whp. I drove the car from Houston to BC, Canada (4,000mi) and got 17mpg.

I bought the car 90% built. A couple years ago this Viper was the fastest street car in Houston. It had just a 6 point roll bar. I spent a month and welded together a front cage so I could race the Mojave Mile (spaceport) in the 200+mph class.

I ran the car on pump gas (10psi boost) and found the car went too fast and I ran out of rpm so I had to ease off the throttle and wait for the finish line then back on the throttle to cross the finish at redline. 215mph. My pump gas tune goes 215mph in about 3/4 mile wearing 14 x 28" x 18" Hoosier R6s (road race tires). Then I bolted on the 26" junk street tires and race the Halfmile at Ely, Nv. Part of the Silver State Classic Challenge Inc. (http://www.SSCC.us) (silver state classic challenge Open Road Rally event) is a Halfmile run. Also a Mile run on a closed hwy at an altitude of 6,500' I slid the car back and forth up past 140mph and ran a 176mph in a halfmile (still on 10psi). Unfortunately the input shaft on the GForce race tranny busted so I didn't rally the beast.

Idea of cost ... TT Kit was $18000. Rear Axles were $5000. posi was $3000, mags were $5500, 6spd Transmission was $7,000, Clutch was $3,400, Stereo was about $10,000, powercoating intake and valve covers was $1300, HID headlights $1200, 4" SS exhaust was about $3000, 24" driveshaft was $2,200. upgraded rear calipers were $1300, Penske shocks were about $14000.Engine ... was ????? Roll bar was $1800 and I added the cage. Car came with an outdated (must be replaced every 2 years) $550 seat belt harness. AEM ECU $4000 and about $4000 worth of tuning ... Another few tens of thousands of fuel pumps, braided lines, filters and air suction tubes. I bought remote actualed fire ext systems (required for over 200mph) for $2000 incomplete. I recently bought a Motec ECU that is worth $18,000 and all you get is a ECU capable of perfect engine control needed for non explosive 1500+whp engine control. I expect $3000 to be my cost on the tuning after I tow the car to Oregon to get the expert tuner to tune it for me. I have an ezine with this and my Roe Twins Screw Supercharged Viper articles and pics as well Viper Nation (http://www.vipernation.com) Also a story on one or two of my Stealth R/T TTs.

This car went 9.2@155mph with a missed 4th gear shift. 10.00 on KDW drag radials Kirk drove the car to Goliad in Tx and ran a 212mph

Badass. I'm also very glad to hear you didn't skimp on a single thing, $14k Penske shocks made me smile :)

Lol, although we're on opposite sides of the U.S/Canada. I'm the slow one with only 670rwhp, but I'm fine with that since I'd rather not dump that much money into it. I thought about going TT, but it gets expensive fast and the simplicity of my SC setup it nice. Plus I'll never use that power and if I do compete and lose then it's not the end of the world for me.

Not to hijack the thread but these two Vipers below tore it up at the Last TI event. I believe the Nth Moto Viper won the RWD class, but lost the final to the AMS GTR in the overall finals. The sequential trans in the Vipers is a mere $30K,lol.

Read that again, that's just shy of $110k! wow!

So either buy a stock 911 turbos or buy a viper and make it 1500hp. No brainer to me!

I love seeing fast cars, and reading about crazy builds. Don't really care about cost, that's more of a look at how much money I have thing.

It never hurts to know how much coin you'd likely have to cough up to build a car like this.
