I always liked the stock gauges look on the 3S, but as every owner knows, they're awful, so I decided to retain the look with aftermarket sensors.

I wanted to have something like the Euro GTO, a small LCD screen with the actual sensor/gauge value.

I'm using the stock Voltage gauges with the Temp/Pressure faces (since that one is accurate and I can just control the position via PWM).

Somehow fitted a Nokia 5110 LCD ($6 from ebay) and shifted the Temperature/Pressure to the right, those are the Voltage gauge with a lower resistor to give them the full range (80 Ohms vs 150 Ohms).

The oil pressure sensor was removed, same with the oil pressure gauge useless coil thing that cant be precisely controlled, I found that is some kind of switch operated gauge, for the sake of simplicity I put a 5V 0-150psi sender that has a linear equation/relation, for the coolant temperature I'm using the stock sensor (ECU) and measuring the resistance but I think that there is an easier way to do that with the temperature scaling tables.

So far, it works, haven't had the time to pull the old gauges, some say that you can remove them without pulling the dashboard but.. I'm still thinking of some extra features, like having a way to check the Diagnostic codes or some datalogging, sensor values (tps, o2s, crank/cam signals), rpm-oil pressure warnings, what you think? :)

Any pictures of it powered up yet?

nice idea

another nice spot to put blackstealths lcdbc but with that screen.

Blackstealths LCDBC is amazing! I finished the gauges (New oil pressure sensor, analog gauge is moving with that values, both pressure/temp values are shown in the LCD) and I'm still hesitant to install it, I never removed the dashboard, its a 2G should be easier but.. :jaded:
