Looks like we're finally ready to Rock-n-Roll
In response to my thread for the large SMIC's (http://www.3sgto.org/3000gt-stealth-gto-related-topics/14178-oohnoo-large-smics.html) I'm proud to offer these to the community. These intercoolers are made from BELL cores with a size of 8" x 4.5" x 8.1" with a cfm of 683 per core, along with custom end tanks that I designed. With these intercooler you'll be able to use your stock ducting and I've also included some custom brackets to move the oem oil cooler back and down a little for clearance.
There's a couple of things you will have to do to make these work on your car. First is the ABS bottom shield has to cut for clearance for the upper pipe. This is thin material so it's easy to cut. I haven't tried it as I already cut mine but you might be able to just bend it out of the way. Actually I can test it on my '97 once I fab up the next set. The other thing is you'll need to transfer the rubber isolators off your old side mounts to these new ones.
With these intercoolers there are many pipe options I would like to offer. But basically these are what I have come up with. Anything else you might need please don't hesitate to ask.
Now...on to the pricing. I'm going to offer these with an initial 15% discount for the first 15 units. I'll be updating the list accordingly.
I'll be listing the pricing with the difference piping options but all come with the same Bell cores. Pricing does not included shipping. I will calculate that at time of shipping based on zip as prices vary to much with the weight of the box.
All kits have piping configuration like oem...see pic below.
Kit 1: 1 3/4" piping (used with DNP) - New Price +10% = $1045
Kit 2: 1 3/4" piping with 1 5/8' reducers welded on for oem setups or CXRacing setups) - New Price +10% = $1112
Kit 3: 2" Piping - New Price +10% = $1112
For right now I want to get a list going. I'll have to figure out the turn-around but I'm hoping to make at least 1 or 2 per week as I do have to keep the wife happy :)
I will require a $500 deposit with balance due at time of shipping. I will only be taking deposits for 3 orders at a time when I'm ready to start your order. So first come first served with no worries.

You want 2" piping like the 1 3/4" as shown above without any reducers? You will have to enlarge the opening on the drivers side where it comes up by the AC dryer. If you want I can put a couple mid section of the long pipe for some flexibility as the cost for it is minimal

I believe so. I'm assuming the enlarging wouldn't be too much more than what the older style FMIC piping required? That would be awesome.
I believe you mentioned the DNP piping is 2 inch that tapers down to 1 3/4 for the sidemounts right? I'm planning on copying my DNP kit but keeping it 2 inch the entire way. 700AWHP on DR750s or BUST! Hopefully the former and not the latter.. lol

I'll see if I can take a pic to show you. It's the area around the ac drier where the piping goes through.

Will I be able to see that from the engine bay? I am not against enlarging that area would just need to seal the bare metal so it wouldn't rust.

Hard to see from the engine side as you have two intercooler hoses and the AC drier all in there. Only pic I have but it's the lower right hand corner in the pic.

LoL
The mounting tabs for the air ducts come with it standard. I require a $500 deposit and turn-around will probably be a 5-10 days as I have to order the cores. Might be sooner as I do have a set in stock but they were allocated from someone else which I think they can wait but need to ask. PayPal is (oohnoo @ optonline .net)

OK...Kit #3 = 2" Piping it is.
If I may suggest if you already have DNP pipes and want it the full 2" all the way is to cut the ends off the DNP pipes where they taper down to 1 3/4" and then weld on 2" extensions in place.

Just to verify Bob...
The 2 inch option will be 2" all the way to the core correct? Not the 1 3/4" piping flared out to 2"?
oohnoo
08-14-2014, 10:31 AM
Yes that is correct.
Hopefully I can enlarge the 1 3/4" hole that's in the end caps to 2" without too much trouble. But that's my problem not your's really.

Bob, I see you have the for sale thread over on the other site as well. I'll take a Kit #2 but could you show more detail on the ABS mount trimming?
oohnoo
08-15-2014, 01:35 PM
Looks like very little has to be trimmed. I did a quick test fit on my '97 and it looks like you'll only have to trim the corner edge. You can see in the pics how close it is but it was hard to get good pic as it wasn't jacked up or anything. Ray will confirm as he's installing a set so once he does I'll know more.

09-04-2014, 07:59 PM
Sorry about that. Waiting on the cores and then I had additional brackets made for the air ducking delayed things a little and Labor Day weekend I got zilch done. But any-who making multiple sets ones at once was a mistake I made so I stopped that and then started concentrating on one set at a time....yours :). But the 2" piping gave me a hard time for some reason as it fought me here and there. But I'm almost done with your set as I finished the drivers side and now almost done with the passenger side. Should be completed this weekend and ready to ship out on Monday pending final payment.

This is just a heads up that I will be taking a Holiday break and not working on any NEW orders till mid January. I will be completing the orders listed above of coarse but not starting any new orders till mid Jan. Thanksgiving is coming up quickly of which we usually host 28 guests and the wife could use all the help in getting the house in order. Then of coarse you got Xmas. And after New Years we're taking a long overdue Vacation to beautiful Hawaii.
With the extra down time I'm going to finally start working on my own car as I've just have not had the time to do so. The engine was dropped in but that's it, I still have to button it all up and get her running and tuned.
If you want I will still take deposits for orders but wont' start on them until mid Jan.
Oh and hopefully I may have a new product coming out then....Stay tuned :)

But to add to that Ray wants a set bad but just doesn't' have the time since he took oh his new job. He works all week and then has to finish cars that are in the shop on Saturday. Once he gets caught up I'll be making him a set for sure. I'll bet he has better gains as the IC's on his car now look very restricted.

I thought I would throw up a couple of shots of these mounted on a '94 3000GT.
The ABS fitment is different from what has been shown but no cutting necessary. The unit is mounted on slots so just needed to slide the whole unit up to clear.
And Maximal's Seatrab oil cooler fits with a slight tweak.

Bob, I hope you don't feel this derails your thread, but I've created an excel sheet and ran some data for various pipe sizes, according to Corky Bell's formula for velocity in an intercooler pipe.
Let's assume 1.5 CFM per horsepower.
According to Mr. Bell it is not good to exceed 450 ft/s as that would incur substantive losses (exponential). Each calculation is based on a turbo taking half the load.
Please draw your own conclusions. Keep in mind even the "2.0" kits are really smaller inside diameter than that in some cases, they have smaller sections to connect to the turbocharger and intercoolers, and bends all contribute to losses.
Also, you can't view this as if the smallest section of your piping is what the overall result is based on because they are just losses, the length of the piping in that size will cause the losses to stack, so a short smaller piece will not be devastating to flow, or we'd all be screwed because of how small the turbo outlet is.
