Lost my big brother a month ago. Mom has been taking it really hard.
It feels strange going back to 'normal' with work and people and such.
I think you hit the nail on the head a few posts up: it isn't about the money, because you can't take it with you. It is about the people you love the most in your life and cherishing the good and bad times you have together. Have no doubt, we are all mortal and will one day leave this planet. The thing is, you never know when - you could live a long life or be hit by a bus tomorrow.
Holidays are gonna be rough without my big brother. Sorry to put a damper on your thread, just had to get that off my chest.

We have missed you here on the boards.
You and your family have been in everyones thoughts and prayers.
We never stop missing the ones we love when they are gone.
In time the good memories are what you will carry with you the rest of your life.
Be sure to share them with his son and he will live on forever in your hearts.

OK you are getting the best of me!
Project 500hp 1g is the official name at the shop but I call it the heart breaker.
http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp10/R3KGT/IMAG0052.jpg
The owner spent big money on the block and heads with another shop just to walk away with a car that didn't run and brought it to us.
I had everything ready last night to pull the engine and tranny.
JJ will do the magic to the engine and the tranny is being sent off for an upgrade to handle the HP we are going to throw at this beast!
Kalamazoo I am told! lol...Really!
We are building the owners dream car...I am so excited to be a part of that!
And my favorite project has more problems then we anticipated. :BrokenHeart:
DJ is the best! He is going to make the numbers work to put this car back together.

It sounds like your little man is well on his way to being a chatter box. :)
It's been too long for me to remember but I do recall the wise words of my Granny when my son was a baby.
"Yea...you can't wait for them to start walking and talking....and before you know it you wish they would sit down and shut up."
It's a concept a little hard to visiuallize when they are so cute but one day you'll remember me telling you this.
I think it's great you're so involved in your sons care. Keep up the good work and please share more of his accomplishments. No better place to talk about your children then a "Dear Granny" thread. :bigthumb:

I started my day being greeted by an excited 3 year old holding a Sponge Bob Valentine with a bright red heart shaped sucker attached.
Best Valentines Day ever!
One day I asked my Hubby why he never gave me roses.
He looked at me and replied “What do you mean I never gave you roses? I planted you a whole garden of roses”
Indeed he had…I had a beautiful garden of roses he had lovingly dug holes for and planted so I would enjoy them for the rest of my life.
Who could deny something with roots and ever giving?
Certainly not me!

Ive only once forgot to put oil in before turning the car over o.0 Dont worry it wasnt in the VR4, this was longg time ago.
(I do not trust quick lubes or mechanics)
i must say, that's probably one of the best reasons i have for always taking it to the quickie-lube. granted, i stand over them and watch everything being done, and i always bring my own oil--but it's still quicker & more convenient. yes i know how to do it, and even at that, i don't have a dedicated garage, so i won't be nearly as fast. plus you have to dispose of oil afterwards for DIY.

Not only that, but if something goes wrong and the oil change is flawed they are forced to pay for any damage resulting. I take my car to Great Canadian Oil Change, and watch carefully at everything they're doing. I've yelled on more than one occasion for the person up top carelessly flailing the fill hose around on my car and spilling oil all over the engine.
For the most part they do a good job, but I like the fact that I don't have to pay for damages doing it myself. And yes, I also know very well how to do an oil change :)

I bet this is actually a true story too, lol.
On the 3's I never had a problem. Haven't lowered one yet, so I never need to jack it up. I can reach under just fine and the smaller drain pans slide right under. But I do often drop the oil plug, but I'm fixing that next oil change with a quick drain plug. More Information for DORMAN 092007 (http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1261282)
I've had quite a few messy oil changes and it usually is cheaper to just take it somewhere. Mark your oil filters tho. Some places just drain and refill, some just top it off, some just take your $ and drive it through. You probably don't want to know how often they don't change your filter. A while back, jiffy lube was caught on video doing these things. Or "Not Doing" I should say.

What would Granny do?
I've got a loud upstairs neighbor in my apartment building. It's not partying or fighting... it's the kid! Sounds crazy I know, but I am going insane because of it.
They moved in a few weeks after I did. I traveled a lot my first few months here so their noise didn't bother me much. Now that I've stayed in one state for a few months, their noise is ridiculous. I can barely hear them walking around (normally)... but the kid runs, jumps, screams, cries, etc from 6:30 to 8:30 AM & PM nearly every day. It's loud enough to where it is hard for me to even watch TV. Everything in my apartment shakes - light fixtures, pictures on the wall. Some of the crashes I swear are going to give me a heart attack (think perfect quietness and then BOOOOM.) The noise reminds me of a fully grown mentally handicapped person running around and stomping their feet. I seriously don't understand how they can be this loud, this consistently.
Now I am not an unreasonable person, but I like loud music and feel justified to be able to play it occasionally considering their lack of respect for me. I don't know if it was the upstairs people or the ones across the hallway, but I had the cops called on ME last weekend.. 8:45pm on a Saturday.. WTF?
I am thinking about calling Child Protective Services, because I cannot imagine what they are doing to this kid to make him run around and scream so much. Calling the police is an option, but I'm afraid they won't even validate it because they were here first- because of me. I will be talking to management and likely speaking to a lawyer next week to see what can be done to get out of my lease. I have 6 months left and there is a $2000 buy-out.
Anybody ever have something like this happen to you?

Had a couple living in the apartment next to me and the walls where paper thin. I swear she was a nice addict and would go out late every night to score drugs then come home and stomp around in high heels. Fight with her husband and scream at each other..... then have very noisy sex afterwards LOL. Thank god they moved out. The funniest time was whe nthe people on the other side of them had freinds staying over and they thought the noisy sex was them
I think you have grounds to complain in this case. If it's so noisy etc that the fittings shake then just complain to the manager and they will be kicked out. Not sure how It works over there but in the apartment complex I own an apartment in I am on the body corporate committee and in these cases we just tell them to stop it and if they don't then we exict.

Have you looked at you lease to see what it says about noise? Most places specify guide lines that they may be breaking.
I would go to the apartment management first and see if they will help.
You probably will not be able to get out of your lease until you make them aware of the problem.
Calling Child Protective Services will be a waste of time.
If there are noise curfews in your city/county and they are breaking them then you are within your rights to call the police.
In our city it's from 12-6am and that includes such things as baking dogs.
And of course you can always approach the people directly but it already sounds like it's not a concern to them.

Mike has been looking for a job over a year.
He just keeps sending applications to any and all jobs that look like they may be suitable.
If this dosen't work out something will come along. Just don't stop looking!
With the amount of people looking for jobs companys are probably taking longer to decide so don't give up yet. :)

It needs a lot of work but I know where's there a built FWD on jackstands that could make it screem.

Get rid of the wheels if you get it though!
On a positive note:
I might have an actual big boy job! Got an unofficial offer today, waiting for the papers now!
After that, background check and drug test.

This is for Corey..Hope you enjoy
Today was Grandparents day at school.
I parked the 3k and proceeded to the office to check in and was instructed to go to the lunch room and wait there for the children to come in.
I stood there against the wall looking at the other Grandparents as we waited thinking about how fast life gets away from us and basically throwing a pity party for myself because I was feeling pretty dam old at this point.
It wasn’t long before my youngest Grandson came bobbing thru the door and we filed thru the lunch line.
Something I haven’t done in many years! Then we were seated by the teachers to enjoy our meals and interactions with these lively first graders.
The little girl across from us strikes up a conversation with her Grandma about how old Granny was.
She keeps insisting that Granny is 99 YEARS OLD and Granny would protest the she was not 99 years old.
My Grandson turned his attention towards their conflict and after thinking it thru a moment turned his cut little face up to me and asked
“Granny how old are you…………………….30?”
I couldn’t help but to smile and I could see him starting to squirm not knowing if he had given the proper guess.
“Yes baby, Granny’s 30”
He returned the smile happy he was correct.
He learned two things today.
How to get anything he wants from Granny and
women will lie about their age!

Dear Granny,
If you have sex with your clone, would that be considered gay or masturbation?
Dear Granny,

both. but if you have sex with your wife's clone, it's not considered cheating.

tip to anyone applying for jobs... be proactive. I applied for a job with the competition becuase the current guys where not paying enough and had not hired another tech like they said they would so I was hardly getting any time to see my son. SO I had an interview and a week passed and still nothing. So I sent an email to the HR woman who then called the guys I did the interview with and they said yeah i'm happy to go with him  I suspect if I had not emailed then it would have been put off even longer then may not have had as good a chance.
So always call or email to show your interested and serious about the job.
That is all......

LOL..I have spent a few days pondering on this. I even asked Hubby what he thought.
We both agree it's just too sick to think about.

I would like to discuss who is coming to my house to help cut up the 20ft section of pecan tree that fell last night during the storm. There sure is a lot of clean up to do and I would like to get the volunteers organized and ready to go.

Thank y'all for the support!
Im back where i used to be, on the rig, drilling for oil!
Long days, short nights (or long if I'm up all night) but worth it! Its an adjustment for me and my wife because I've been home so long, but the paycheck and the fulfillment make things a lot easier!
Doing my third hitch right now in a blazing hot South Texas, getting covered in mud but loving it!
I love my job!

Granny, you seem to always have the best ideas! Thanks for the life lesson!
Do you reccomend larger quantities to move the product fast? Or do you feel its better yo use small bags to maximize profit?

The squares are just a base, to make it stable for the rig to stand on the ground (divide the load) they're 30ft square, theres three squares on a plate. (or 4 on bigger ones)

I have a very rambunctions grandson that is 3 going on 30.
He wants to help with everything!
A few weeks ago I was cleaning the basement with him on my heels. I had sweep up a pile of dirt only to find he had scattered it back all over the floor.
I said someting to him like..."Granny is really getting mad at you....yaudi yaudi......."
After a short silence I heard him mumble "Well that wasn't very F**cking nice" :eek5:
Not sure what I had just heard I asked him "What did you say?"
His response was "Nothing" :lol7:
We had a long conservation about the "F" word and I still haven't told his Mom but in all reality I'm still laughing under my breath.
Some people were just born to tell it like it is......

I believe that 90% of life is a self fulfilling prophesy, and 10% is out of ones control. The list you present is only determined by society, and it's localized moral standard which differs by location.
That being said, I believe in the experiences I have lived, the ability I have to learn from them, and the trust/lack of built between acquaintances/friends.
