Thought I would post my build just to get input and opinions, especially once I start reassembling. Build started when I pulled from a light pulled about 15PSI and heard a loud pop noise and the blowoff valve went off. So coasted to the gas station and the engine idled fine. So I pulled away car just seemed like it had as much power as a 4 Banger and wouldn't boost over 5psi. Compression test showed 90PSI in all cylinders and timing was dead on Except for front bank E-0, I-(-2). So after puling engine I saw the down pipe had more holes and cracks in it and had to be replaced. So I went ahead and unbolted the Catalytic converter and found this:
http://pic100.picturetrail.com:80/VOL603/3022494/24545014/409468982.jpg
So I'm pretty sure the engine was completely fine, in fact it was in excellent condition for 78k… original crosshatch, bearings were fantastic, and heads were great. So I went ahead and decided to do a full out build so I do not have to pull this engine for another 200K.
My first build I'm aiming for 500WHP w/meth. Once I get bored at that power level I'll upgrade the heads and turbos.

Updated Build list:
Bought GC Tech Manifolds/02 Housings, 3SX DP w/Racepipe, STG 4+ Clutch. I also made a pretty significant purchase that will be a surprise :-), going for 500WHP on pump gas only.

I was pretty lucky. Guys posted it on for sale at 1AM and I just happen to be up early and was able to snag them.

Cosmetics will be the very last thing I do to the car. Plus I'm waiting to move from the El Paso wight he sand storms before painting her. Also, got good news from the transmission shop…everything looked in great condition so they will weld in brace and reseal her up. I'm shooting to have her back up by mid september.

Got turbos and manifolds on. Test fitted the 3SX DP looks like I will need to take it to an exhaust shop. It is just missing linning up.

Update: 08/30/14:
I was trying to get the engine in the car by the end of my 4 day this week but that wont happen. Still awaiting on some parts to arrive.
Fixed:
Was able to bend dip stick to clear.
Update: 8/31/2014 Kind of at a stand still waiting for some parts to arrive so I can degree the cams.

Current Issues:
1: Looks like I will need to take the DP to a exhaust shop to get chopped and fit it to the 02 housings. Just not fitting.
2: The oil return lines I bought from 3SX just arn't fitting...Pretty pissed they costed a good amount. If anybody has any ideas/expereince with these let me know.
3: The NPT/BPT adapter is not fitting in the oil pump for the oil psi sender.

On the DP, loosen your bolts on the rear o2 housing to the turbo, any others that wll give wiggle room, install the DP with them loose, and tighten all you can when installed. Remove the DP, and tighten the ones you could not get to with it on. Confirm it lines up after all tight.
Have you confirmed the thread pith on both the sender, and the pickup housing as being what you are trying to fit?

On the GCTechs, have you mounted front, and rear engine mounts, as well as the front turbo support? I had to do some R&D of my own on the early versions.

Yes, both mounts are on the engine bay. There is no fitment issues I have seen yet. Once it goes in car might be different story. Thanks for the ideas about the downpipe. Lol, I was reading through your build, and your asking the same questions about some of those brackets I had lol. I will def be reading through your entire build here shortly. BTW have you started the car, Im cruious to how the GCTECH manis sound :-)

Sound s awesome. Unfortunately I have started it 3 times for the first time. Oil pressure issues. It's all in there...

Yes, both mounts are on the engine bay.
I mean have you mounted the engine side of the mounts to the block yet? That is where the issue is.

Lol, Ya my engine mounts are on the engine.
Quick question I ordered the stud set for the turbo mounting points. I thought all of them were studs but I have 3 bolts. Anybody have any idea where the three bolts go on the turbos?
Update: Degreed stock cams and did the -3 and +1 on the adjustable cam gears.
When I get back from work I will seal up the top portion of the engine and get the manifolds on and test fit the DP. Hopefully if that doesnt take to long I can place the engine up on the cherry picker and get the clutch/flywheel on. Goal is to have the Engine/Transmission bolted on Thurdsday for me to drop it in on Friday.

Ok, had some issues that prevented me from getting this done last week but this car will now be powered by Dr650s. Will do my damnist to get this thing dropped in by sunday.
Update: Got everything for the rear turbo mounted up and stopped working on the front. I will have to take the manifold off to tighten 1 of the 3 turbo to manifold nuts and then remount manifold. Good news is now that is everything is tight the 3SX is lining up pretty damn close. Just need to find some bolts that thread into the GCTeCH 02 housings. If I make good progress tomorrow, I have one of my buddies coming over friday to help get the transaxle and everything install and then attempt to drop it saturday hopefully…if there are no more unpredicted events.

Update: 9/15/2014
Car is pretty much done. Engine and Transmission filled with oil and no leaks (Hopefully none with pressure is applied. List of things to do:
1) Wire Oil Pressure, Fuel, and Wideband Gauge
2) Install Transfercase (Having a hard time getting that SOB on)
3) The water Housing I bought from 3SX one of the lines had a bad thread that was causing it to go in at a angle and leak. Awaiting Parts.
4) Pressure Test
How she sits today (Had to remove alot of stuff on top to get to the leaking water line on the housing:

Sorry for not updating in a while. The army took over the last couple months and been really busy. Anyways I fixed the coolant leak and oil leak (Blew out my cam seals on the front head because I pressurized my intake system without moving the line that goes from intake bubble to heads…Oops). Took her for some break in pulls….I just bring her to high RPMS nice and slow and let her engine brake down to lower RPMs. I did two WOT pulls and rolled into it in 2 and 3 gear and she moves damn good for stock map and waste gate boost at 15PSI. Things that are left….Ordering some two hard pipes that go to the turbos from intake manifold (They keep blowing off at around 15PSI when pressure testing, need a new rear turbo pipe for the Dual Core…the little bracket that screws into the rear turbo cracked, new BOV(Bought a used Greddy RS to replace knock off that comes with kit and its leaking really bad), and I need to find a plug for the nipple on the back of the IM that Im not using.
Also, I posted on the other forum about my lower plenum leaking at the heads under about 18PSI of pressure when pressure testing. Very slow leak. But I unbolted everything, cleaned off surfaces and gaskets (New), and put a few more ftlbs of torque on the nuts/bolts. I asked If I should use some light gasket maker which I seen done on other platforms but the other forum said not too. But if this doesn't work I don't know what I will do to seal it up.
Also Im taking recommendations for seats to replace my driver/passenger. Looking for something that is a all around, Im a bigger guy 220LBS/6FT. This is a weekend cruiser/track car, I want something that is in the middle of the price range.
Anybody know the thread size for the nipple on the back of the intake plenum right by the throttle body….its the big one. I forgot what use to go there but I did vacuum reduction and I want to plug it instead of just having a vacuum cap on it. **So I used a 1/8 NPT Plug.....I think it wasnt the right size but was close enough to screw in and I put a shit load of thread sealant on it and it doesnt leak up to 25PSI.

Another update. Ordered 1000CC Injectors going E85, 3.75" GM Maf/Translator, hard pipes for intake bubble to turbos since they keep popping off during pressure test. Still need to get DP installed at exhaust shop. Interior is 99% complete (Wiring and All), just waiting for my new A-Pillar and floor mats from 3SX. The light of the tunnel is getting closer!

Update: Intake Plenum is leaking. Continuing to trouble shoot I have new gasket on the way for the upper/lower plenum where they mate up. if that doesn't work I'm going to go and them decked at the machine shop. It is holding right about 11-12 inches solid and when decelerating in gear it will pull 22 inches. I boost leaked check the car and the two places are still BOV (New one inbound) and plenum. It is very hard to tell where it is leaking on the plenum thought since it is so tight. So any ideas please let me know.

Make sure the plenum is sitting flat on the lower intake. I've seen where the rear lift bracket that bolts to the plenum gets bent where is prevents the plenum from sitting correctly. This is the one on the drivers side by the brake booster.

Oohnoo great advice…I already checked that thanks for the advice though! Loosened the bracket and bent it back just to make sure. My new ported and polish lower plenum is coming in tomorrow. I will take everything off clean the gaskets really good, place the new gasket that goes between upper/lower plenum torque everything down to spec, new 1000CC injectors will be going in so that includes new fuel rings, if it still leaks I will have to take it to the machine shop :(.
Also what type of gap should be running on my Coppers? I believe I did 30 but I'm thinking I need to go lower if I will be pushing low 20's PSI. BTW I took the Spyder to the gas station and had logger running, for some reason my front and rear fuel trims are way out of wack. One is -9 and the other is 9….brand new 02 housings/headers, new sensors, and doing the same thing that it was doing before the build.... Ill worry about fixing the vac leak first, but any ideas throw them out there please.
BTW just quick story. OMW to the gas station, this mini starts following me and gets on my ass. I was getting a little pissed and then he switches to left land comes to my drivers side door, gives me a huge thumbs up and big smile, so I returned the thumbs up. The car is open 02 housings, and doesn't have the bumper on so you can hear the turbos spooling/whistling a mile away…since I got a thumbs up from mini cooper, this means I'm legit now…...right ;-)
