Ok, so ever since I bought the car about 2 years ago, the hatch plastic has been loudly rattling every time I hit the slightest bump... I took a look and it appears the interior trim that goes around the inside of the back hatch window glass is cracked around the screws and the trim circle thing area around the screw has apparently separated from the rest of the interior trim piece, so now the trim isn't being held in place, or at least not by that screw, so it rattles, especially during the summer when it's hot. Has anyone else had this problem? I was wondering if there is some kind of easy fix for this that anyone knows of, because it's really starting to drive me crazy, and it looks like a problem that is caused by just regular use of the hatch. Not from damage or anything.

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, besides just replacing the entire interior trim around the hatch, which I'm sure is pricey, I'd really appreciate the suggestions.

Unsure of a DIY fix, but if worse comes to worst there are used parts on the forums. Check out the vendor forums, Ground Zero and 3000GT/Stealth Supply both sell used parts.

easy fix, but maybe not the prettiest is to get a big washer and a longer screw...

^Exactly - big washer, longer screw. While you're in there stuff some old newspaper or magazine paper behind the trim to keep it taut.
