Hey guys, Ive been hunting down this noise for quite some time. I thought it was just my 2 piece alu/steel drive shaft resonating the drive train, but listening to it now it sounds like it is coming from the front of the car near the TC. (TC was rebuilt by jacks). Perhaps the tooth contact is off in the TC? Could be the drive shaft u joints? Let me know what you guys think. It is a high pitched noise, like a metallic whine. It sounds like I have straight cut gears sometimes. The noise is load dependent. It goes away when I push the clutch In, but if I am in neutral coming to a stop it will whine

Stupid, but obvious first question: Have you checked the fluid level lately and made sure it's not leaking anywhere?
When did the noise start? Have you tried going back to the factory drive shaft and seeing if the noise is still there? Is there anyone near by you could borrow a t-case from to swap and test?
Changing the D/S and t/case (independently of course) should let you know which of the two it is. Or if your issue is something else.

So I swapped in a 1 piece CFDS and it still made the same noises. The Output shaft from the TC was able to be moved a tiny bit up and down by hand. I am thinking the midcase bearings. When I sent my TC to Jacks for a rebuild they told me they had a good midcase/ assembly there that they would use. Im guessing it was not good... Contacting Jacks.
