Alright.. So basically, EVERYTHING is coming out.
Literally the only equipment that'll be reused are the Singer alt, batts, HU, subs, and tweeters. Thats it.. like even the voltage meter is coming out.
I wont have any progress for about a month when I go back home for summer break.. But I figured Id get this thread started..

Im guessing you want them to be the same brand. For the five channel.. do you want all channels to be full range?

They do need to match as well as match my sound processor.
Arc audio PS8
I am waiting for Arc Audio to release these (http://www.arcaudio.com/p/xdi-1100-5?pp=24), eight of the channels will be range, the two sub channels will each dive a pair of 8's (so four total)

These are all OLD updates.. so don't mind some of the wording
Ugh.. Im so excited..
Because I don't have any build updates, heres something i just took on the way to dinner. Not much, buttfuck it...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just some SMALL updates..
I got the VM1 a few weeks ago, and tested it out for a first time today. Not only is it pure sex, theres seemingly NO lag. It makes my Stinger look like it pauses lol

For those of you who don't know, my Ampere sold for around what I wanted.. so Im about to shoot some money to Populus for amps, and buy some fiberglassing shit.

Im insanely busy for finals.. But I hope to find some time tomorrow to start measuring for a new box and look at new potential amp layouts.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While the subs were out, i figured Id overlook everything on them.. voice coil resistance, actual coil, spider joints, surround for cracks, cone for tears.. etc.
First, resistance of the leads themselves..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/0A0C005C-BC13-4CBD-B7C0-E15B5AB9140C_zpsabt3m2cr.jpg

So, the coils all read between 1 and 1.1 ohms.. lookin good :good:
Everything else looked to be on point too.
The weather was BEAUTIFUL today, so I did a TON of measuring.
I have some friendly advice for you, don't try to make sense of it.. because you'll get a migraine hahah..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/BA76D7EB-4A33-4174-A9CD-400CD94FF065_zpsowthlkbq.jpg
So basically what it says is that I can get 3.9 cubes after wood displacement (all double baffled), but before sub and port. I could fit a pair of 12s.. or hmm.. get another 10 and wire them to have a final load of .66 ohm. :peepwall: We'll see...*
This really makes me think of how not glassing held me back. Ill take a pic of my "trunk"/tire well, as that'll show what I mean best.. but it insanely hindered how much space I could obtain.

Ok.. more little updates..
Last night, I hit up Kevin.. and I picked up 20ft of SHCA 1/0, along with 5 set screw fuse holders and a few 300A fuses. He sent me a few ninja pics of what CNF coming out with.. and I can't lie.. they look sick :D
I did some measuring this morning for speaker clearance. My goal is to NOT cut any metal in the door, as the part Id have to cut is close to the part that holds my window motor and regulator. Id rather not weaken that part of my door.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/87892D57-040D-47EF-A80C-D56EF51B9F7A_zps1ynnhsit.jpg
-----------------------------------------------
I don't want my box jumping around and beating up my hatch.. So heres my little solution..
I already started working on this one.. but my car has plastic bins in the hatch from the factory, which are screwed down into plastic adapters.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/48260123-0505-4BB9-A420-A586EA981C95_zpsjpgbmhyv.jpg
I dont trust these adapters to hold down the weight of the box, amps, and subs, so I removed them. The first one was a bitch because I didnt have a plan. Once I got one done, I was set. Heres my method of madness lol
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/F79F645B-0285-41C9-BE5A-2678C0F145CE_zpsnteatkgs.jpg
Well.. it worked  So, fuck it..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/38E99B39-1A57-455B-A925-AA61E5CE3307_zpslgvasily.jpg
These holes are accessible from under the car.. if your arm is 3 ft long hahah.. but I did see daylight at the bottom. As a result, I need to add the bolts from the top.
I could use small bolts, but I don't need shit snapping.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/5750B0B1-DD33-44EB-BFF7-5FC339CBA5B1_zps280nv7dy.jpg
I knew it wouldnt fit, so lets take out one of my best friends..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/39B06BEB-D89D-4A01-8359-05A08F3F50EC_zpskdpht2qk.jpg
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/EBE510B8-B7B0-46D1-858A-C97FA0A4837B_zpstni2lp88.jpg
Much better.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/1D0EFED9-AE03-4F47-B30A-0841592BEDC3_zpstmfrhkmz.jpg
Now, I need to get the proper bolts, bigger washers, and nuts. The washer is what'll make the most contact area with the metal of the car.
The layout will be: Bolt --> Washer --> Cars Metal --> Washer --> Nut --> Washer --> Box --> Washer --> Nut
Got washers? LOL

Anyway, heres the idea.. The first hole was my test dummy, so it wasnt the best.. But I still have 5 more, which will be spot in. I formulated a better plan.

Im going to get a wider top washer.

Make believe my fingers are the false floor.. This is sorta what it'll look like.. I fucked up a little.. One of the washers that on TOP of my fingers will be UNDER my fingers when all said and done.

First, black & blue 4awg OFC; along with black, blue, and red 16awg primary wire. Cody hooked me the fuck up.. Thats all Im gonna say.. Thanks!!

Next up, some 8awg OFC speaker wire from Kyle and Bryan. I couldn't have gotten a better deal. Thanks to you two, along with Laura for shipping it out.

I also got a new passenger window regulator. My old one was starting to go, and the bass throwing the window back and forth didnt help. Remember, I have frameless windows.

Before I replaced the regulator, I threw the batteries on the charger. Its been like 3 weeks

Worked a LOT today. Fuck, the whole day was spent on Diamond.
So, first thing I did was take off the a pillars, strip 'em, and then sand them.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/IMG_0001_zps0e7351dc.jpg
Then, I mounted the rings..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/IMG_0005_zps9b98aa52.jpg
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/IMG_0016_zps0a217005.jpg
Following that, I wrapped them and got started on the doors.
SURPRISE! Under the vinyl, theres foam that had to be sanded off. Ugh..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/IMG_0006_zps2e44f9a0.jpg
Meh, whatever. Sanded here down a little, and drilled a hole for the second speaker.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/IMG_0002_zps7565d4df.jpg
Next, I looked at how much depth I need for the panels.
This is where i got*PISSED!*When I checked for depth before I even bought the drivers months ago, I only looked at the drivers side.
The drivers side has adjustable seat bolsters, which i had "in" so that theyd hug me for more spirited driving. Sounds good, right? Allows for more speaker depth.*
NO! The passengers side doesnt have adjustable bolsters.
I debated calling it quits, gave up, and just throwing in an 8 per door.

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/IMG_0003_zpsac7a92e6.jpg
This'll never be seen, so I didnt try to make the holes too clean.

Yes, I cleaned up what I could from the ponte. It didnt want to let any of my blades cut it though. Scissors only get so close.
Next, was my dash piece.

Nothing crazy going on here, but crazy enough to need to be glassed.
Heres how it all sits now..

I ran out and need to get some more. Im actually glad I ran out, because I wouldve caked it on. Now that the filler has cured and I've sanded, I see how it works much better.
*
Unfortunately round 2 of the filler will have to wait until NEXT weekend, as i have plans this weekend.
*
Here are pics of them BARELY sanded..

Im going to throw them on for like a week and a half until I could do some more work on them.*

Well.. an update on the doors and pillars.. Im not finishing them. Key word is "I'm." :p I don't wanna put him on blast.. but some fheg in Arizona is taking care of them.
*
He's filling them with short strand filler, filling with smoother filler, sanding, priming, sanding, priming again, and then painting. Talk about a workout lol
*
Now, heres what I started with..
*
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/B396581E-1695-4C57-A50D-3B7DFE593BA0_zpsmgb98qxv.jpg
*
Eh, i liked it. It served its purpose. After I took it out, I could barely break it.. and even getting as far as i did, i put in work lol
*
Everything out:
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/4FEE63A7-7510-46F6-A2BD-25F59EB70C5E_zpskznhcovw.jpg
*
Then I found out something FUCKING AMAZING!! By my strut mounts, theres plastic covering them. What i didnt realize is that theres a hole that goes STRAIGHT through. The hole is huge too. So, I took out my drill and went to town. This makes wiring everything so much easier, because I don't have to hide really any wires.
*
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/EE31C9DD-D369-4249-9DF9-B029E2F74400_zps4kpo9guu.jpg

*
Then, I checked the time.. I need to head to work soon.. So i didnt have much time. Instead of making even more of a mess by cleaning up those holes, I started taping. Ill get to cleaning up the holes another time.
*

09-01-2014, 11:45 AM
Ok.. So the wood I used yesterday was just to see if my idea worked. It was like 1.25 x 3" wood.. Meh.. To hold down like 300lbs tops, I wanted 2x4. Not needed, but what I want.
*
So, I tore the old wood out. It also made more sense TO ME to lay it down "vertically"
*
I also cut off the extra threaded rod. We have like every tool but an angle saw, so I used a reciprocating saw.. I know.. Stupid, but Im young..*
*

Most of the amp rack outline has 2 layers of 1.5oz chopped mat.. weaker areas have 3.
Its pretty sturdy.. but thats JUST a bonus. I only used glass for cosmetics.

So, about a week ago.. I noticed that my car sounded like a Honda whenever I accelerated.. No matter the RPM.. But above 5k.. Wow... LOL
*
Anyway, I put my car up on my boy's lift. We took a look, and my front flex pipe was leaking.*
*
This was a bit of a pain because I got my original flex pipe started leaking like a yr and a half ago, so I got an aftermarket down pipe.*
*
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/Untitled2_zps377729c7.png

Top is OEM, bottom is 3SX. You can see what broke..
*
So I went to an exhaust shop yesterday to get this fixed.
*
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/F814B1D6-A323-40A3-ACC9-36210712DE7C_zpsgm6yw81z.jpg

The guy told me that a clogged cat could be causing that. I thought about it for a second, and it sorta made sense. Maybe the heat could be eating up the flex section.*
*
So, he replaced the flex pipe, and we removed a little restriction ;)
*
Heres a SHORT clip.. My sister hit the "stop" button by accident.

I saw a charcoal option. However, rather than worrying about the adhesive and fibers being too light or dark, i just got black. I know it'll look good.
So.. I have 2 stores within a 30 min radius that carry Evercoat products. However, they both closed yesterday at 4 and are closed today. I need the filler for tonight. My choices were either get raped by buying Bondo, or trying this for like 1/2 the price. I picked this up from NAPA.

I know, its lightweight.. so its prone to a bit of pinholes. Ill try to control that by mixing. BUT if it does have a couple, thats perfectly fine.. and heres why.. Im flocking. The flocking adhesive tends to fill out SMALL imperfections.

Expect updates tonight :D

So, I picked up my car today. The odd clutch pressure issue was my bad clutch master cylinder. The guys replaced it, added new fluid, and bled that.*

My only compliant is that they I didnt have ANY clutch free play. Mitsubishi's Technical Service Book calls for .2 - .5" of free play. So.. I adjusted that as soon as i got home and went for a test drive.

A few small updates.
I got my smoked license plate LAST November.. So a year and 8 months ago. Never got a warning.. Cops didn't even take a second look.
Thursday after work, I got a warning. He had a slight attitude until I showed him what was up.
Now yesterday, I got another warning. The cop was cool.. So I didn't even show him anything.
Well.. I know.. It was only 2 warning.. But it got annoying. I pulled the cover off until I leave to go back to school. Meh.
Also, I changed my oil last night.. Nbd..
And.. I got an email :D

If only I could smoke the bottom...
Also, I finished the ports. On the inside, I used 2 part plastic epoxy. On the outside, I used amazing goop (I know). On both, the inside and outside, I went over with some gorilla tape. She's sturdy for sure!
Ports and subs are installed.
Subs are D1. Each sub has a coil wired in series. I see 2.1 on one sub, and 2.2 on the other.
Then, the 2 subs are wired in parallel.. I see 1.2 ohms at the end of my 8awg to my amp. Looks good to me.
I'm happy.. Also doors are in the gone stretch. Hopefully they'll be shipped out in 2 or 3 days.
If I went in circles in this post.. My bad.. I'm a bit.. Yea...

I've been insanely busy, but here's an overdue update..
I got the subs playing last Saturday morning.
All amps turn on, along with the 3sixty. All channels have output too. Woot!
My doors/pillars aren't done, so I'm just using the factory rear speakers for the time being.
Now, with these (2) 3" ports.. There's ZERO port noise. Whereas, the single 4" port had noise.
From 32hz up, it pounds. The mid 30s - mid 40s straight up SLAM!
I'm tuned to 35ish hz, and am strong down to 32. I can play 30 and 31, but it's quiet. Under that, it straight up unloads.
My box designer and I figured this would happen though. I would extend my port, but they're as long as they can be.
My only other solution is removing the 1/2" wood I added to the inside of my box. I added 4 layers to shrink my box.. But may take out a sheet or two to lower tuning. I just hope that the internal volume doesn't raise too much.
I still need to overview my box sketch sheet and specs that I drew up when I built it. All should be good though. Meh, I don't have many songs under 30hz. Ill test, and test.. I guess.
Now.. Voltage story.. Well.. Fuck. Lol. For the FIRST and one of the few times, I was able to get my voltage under 13.7 at idle.
Makes me want to throw in the 2nd 3500 now lmao
But I have solid plans for the future. I have 2 plans.

Did you drop your fuel tank to anchor the bolts on the underside of the unibody?
Surprisingly, no! I used 1/4" bolts and washers. I took out the plastic plugs. The "hole" was actually a square. As a result, the bolt and washer fit though at the angle.

This is good to know, I just used the square plug, and with how my amp rack, sub box, and battery tie downs inter lock, I still know I am good.
I amp rack is secured to the spare tire lug, the sub boxes are locked in by the sunroof holders, the batteries even if they do break free (VERY doubtful) they are not leaving the cubby that they are in.

Heres a little write up..
So.. I kinda torture tested my substage.
I had to drive back to school tonight (just got back like 20mins ago). The drive is just over 2hrs total.
I had my rear seats UP.. So not much air flow. I made one stop half way through the commute. Anyway, 99% of the trip was full tilt.. Decaf.. DJSNT.. iTunes music.. You name it. I played below tuning, at tuning, above tuning.. Whatever.
Anyway, tuned with the -0 db tone at the HU and 3sixty, and -7.5db tone at the amp..
Subs barely got warm.. Barely.. I didnt smell anything..
The proto amp however.. Oh my god
When I got to Albany (school), the amp was warm.. That's it. Warm. After 2 1/4 hrs full tilt playing rough stuff. I mean, it's wired to 1ohm nominal and didn't see under around 13.7v.. But still no air flow.
No hick ups, no protection, nothing weird.
I'm real happy with this amp. The whole heat thing shocked me. The thing is vinyl wrapped for god sakes.

I LOVE it. Ive used it for my 3 previous setups, and this current one. I plan on keeping it until it dies. :)

I threw on the decals. I LOVE the matte black ones. They look sick against my tint..

Well.. I just got an update.. and the doors are basically done. They just got their last layer of paint..
Here are pics of them in the "dark."
Do you see the OEM-like texture? Mmm..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/10608499_755820331131599_5932127096972405741_o_zps 43a5aca2.jpg

Now, heres how they change to a dark bronze color once some light hits them..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/10700482_755820121131620_223642726288174303_o_zps6 157163b.jpg
Now, keep in mind that the paint is still wet, and that pics make almost everything looks worse.
Now with that being said.. If they look this great in pics.. just imagine the result in person :D

Ohh... Where to start? Meh, lets start with subs..
So, I was driving into work on Thurs morning. I was playing like half volume.. and heard a ticking. So, I turned down the setup a tad.
After 5 mins, the ticking was apparent at that volume too.
Play lower, and same thing happened.
Whatever.
After work, I unscrew the sub in the work parking lot.
Coil was still wound a copper in color, cone wasnt "bent", surround looked fine, spiders wasnt teared, tinsels were still connected. Everything LOOKED fine. With the car off, I pushed down on the cone. No coil rub.
I checked impedance, checked out fine.
I figure that Ill have to recone anyway.. so I just burp it.
I find this in my backseat..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/5EB39162-0D21-42C8-BC16-7B3F29679BD0_zpsr5pjpadt.jpg
I was so relieved.
So I turned off the 3500, picked up glue, and drove home like this..
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/hdorre95/3000GTv2/878504C5-9637-4705-B82F-A339EFE2F631_zpsy0yg0mg8.jpg
Ate up a good bit of the cone too..

So, I reattached the dustcap and let it dry overnight. Im going on 57 miles of driving, with no issues.
:good:

Over this past long weekend, I got a substantial amount of work done.
Lets discuss the amp rack area first..
AJ hooked me up on some carpet and adhesive.

This adhesive is no joke.. Even when sprayed on just one of the surfaces..

are you using both the same speakers side by side?(appears so?), as I wanted to add a lower(mid/sub) beside my current Polk Sr6500's to bring a bit more bottem end up front!! but not sure if I would have any issues of cancellation ect as I know it not normally good to run different drivers close together(atleast when it comes to subs ect?? again thanks for posting pics of custom door pods as exactly what I needed!!!

I found a speaker(mids not tweets!) that fits perfect in the dash of our cars and they totally kick ass!!(a bit pricey $450 a pr)but can find onsale at $325 a pr! Pioneer stage 4 Ts-S062prs(i believe)so clear/loud and though I have over 8grand in my system these puppies are one of my fav pieces! infact I think im gonna add a 2nd set in the pillars I am mostly into Sq(not a blurper lol!)and always looking for ways to get the most outta of our crappy acoustic interiors!!

Yeah, both of the mids are the same exact model. The only way I would do a midrange and mid bass driver per door is if i separated the airspace between the two different speakers.
Me personally, I planned to (and currently am) upgrade my substage drastically and need my frontstage to keep up. This is the sole reason why i have 2 mids per door (feeding them 150wrms per) and 2 tweeters per a pillar.
For an SQ perspective (please note that SQ isn't my forte), adding speakers complicates staging. Adding DIFFERENT types of speakers just makes staging THAT much harder. Its more time aligning, x/o properly, EQing, etc. Many times, its more of a hassle i hear, than anything.
Where do your Polks seem to "drop off" at?
